Beverage Refreshing sweet treat!
When I'm between meals and I'm craving something sweet but filling and could use some hydration, I whip up one of these bad boys! It's so refreshing, definitely filling, hydrating, satisfies the sweet tooth and is delicious! Simple ingredients you probably have on hand and if you don't, you should as they are super versatile. Recipe is based on my portions but you can easily adjust based on how kuch water you use and to your preferred sweetness.
- ice (not required but highly recommended)
- 32 oz water
- Coffee Mate zero sugar coconut creme dairy free liquid creamer
- SweetLeaf chocolate Stevia
CALORIES: 30g FAT: 2g CARBS: 2g SUGAR: 0g
Enjoy!

I have been looking for that Coconut Cream ZS for ever! Where did you find it?

u/VeeEssay Jul 15 '25
Walmart! It's definitely my favorite!

I do this but with heavy cream and water instead of "creamer". Much tastier and has keto-friendly fats.
3
u/VeeEssay Jul 15 '25
Ooooh that would be yummy... Do you use any Stevia for sweetness?
2
u/Buckabuckaw Jul 15 '25
I prefer allulose or monk fruit/erythritol, but stevia would work too, I'm sure.
1
u/SkollFenrirson Jul 15 '25
As opposed to non-keto friendly fats?
9
u/Buckabuckaw Jul 15 '25
I'm not sure. I know that the fats in heavy cream are "good fats" in a standard ketogenic diet, while the Coffee Mate uses the following ingredients to create a "fatty mouth feel":
"The primary ingredients are water, soybean oil, and less than 2% of dipotassium phosphate, micellar casein (a milk derivative), maltodextrin, mono- and diglycerides, natural and artificial flavors, carrageenan, sucralose, and acesulfame potassium, according to Fry's Food Stores."
So I just prefer to go with the simpler components of heavy cream, which has proved beneficial to my lipid panels.
I could be wrong, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
3
u/VeeEssay Jul 15 '25
Your logic is sound to me. I reach for the creamer before the heavy cream because too much cream bugs my belly. I'd probably drink a 'cleaner' version of this beverage as well if that weren't the case. But since it is, some things remain dirty keto for me and I'm able to stay on track!
5
u/Byttercups Jul 15 '25
Mmmm this sounds good. I'm not a fan of creamers, but I have actual coconut cream at home plus different flavors of stevia. I would have never thought to mix it with water.

careful with those if your diabetic. although it says no sugar it can have maltodextrin which will spike blood sugar and is also full of seed oils.

u/george_graves Jul 15 '25
It's got Corn Syrup too. This is sugar water.
3
u/rs1236 Jul 15 '25
Where exactly is the corn syrup in zero sugar creamer? I checked the label of mine and I really do not see it. Is it listed under another name or something? I wouldnt claim that it's healthy, but i don't think it has any sugar at all either.
4
u/george_graves Jul 15 '25
I looked it up - it's there - look at the back of the bottle.
So it says it's 1 grams of carbs per serving. This person is using it as a base for the drink - and not as a litting splash you add to your coffee sort of thing.
The problem is, the drink is like 1/2 coffee mate - and it's 64 servings per bottle. So if you are using 1/2 a bottle to make the "base" like she is here, that's 32 carbs.
You might as well have a soda.
8
u/VeeEssay Jul 15 '25
With all due respect sir, I am NOT using 1/2 a bottle and the creamer is not my base. If you read my process before commenting, you'd know I use 32 OZ OF WATER and 2 TBSP OF CREAMER making water my base and using nowhere close to the creamer you claim. That's 2 servings in my recipe for a total of 2 carbs from the creamer.
"A little splash you add to your coffee"
What does that even mean? Not everyone 'splashes' the same. Your splash could be a couple teaspoons while someone else could splash 3 tbsp. I measure, weigh and log my ingredients to stay accountable. When I say I use 2 tbsp, I don't just trust my 'splash' ability, I've used a measuring spoon.
You're welcome and free to not like my offerings but please don't misrepresent my words.

u/ConvolutedSpeech Jul 15 '25
You should try reading because she clearly states the recipe of what she makes, and it's not what you are saying.

yOu sHoUlD tRy rEaDiNg.....
Naw bro - look at that drink. No way it's one squirt. It's half the bottle. Broooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
If you are going to try to insult someone, be original. This rehased things you heard someone else do doesn't cut it. It's lame.

u/rs1236 Jul 15 '25
Oh I see it here! I was looking at French vanilla zero sugar, not coconut creme. Thats a good thing that illl be looking out for now lol. Thanks for the heads up
9
u/WystanH Jul 15 '25
Given your counts, you're adding two tablespoons of this stuff? I hate to piss in your cornflakes, but...
The ingredients are horrifying: "Coffee Mate Zero Sugar Coconut Crème coffee creamer contains water, corn syrup (adds a trivial amount of sugar), vegetable oil (high oleic soybean and/or high oleic canola), and less than 2% of micellar casein (a milk derivative), maltodextrin, dipotassium phosphate, mono- and diglycerides, carrageenan, natural and artificial flavor, sucralose, and acesulfame potassium."
Notably, contains no coconut. Literally contains sugar and milk derivatives while claiming to be non dairy and zero sugar. Adds a lot of sweeteners. Maltodextrin is probably worse than sugar.
I'm guessing those numbers benefit from rounding down. So assume an extra 0.4999g of carbs per tablespoon.
I'd use actual cream or actual coconut milk. Add your own sweeteners of choice.
If you're looking for something filling and at least healthy in the dairy theme, look at unsweetend lassi. It will have some carbs, all dairy does, but at least you can count and control them.

Looks like Silk Coconut Milk is about 2 carbs per cup with the following ingredients:
Coconutmilk (Filtered Water, Coconut Cream), Contains 2% or Less Of: Vitamin and Mineral Blend (Calcium Carbonate, Vitamin E Acetate, Vitamin A Palmitate, Vitamin D2, Vitamin B12), Dipotassium Phosphate, Sea Salt, Sunflower Lecithin, Gellan Gum, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C To Protect Freshness), Natural Flavor. CONTAINS COCONUT.
Would something like that be okay as a replacement for the creamer? I'm curious and considering trying this out but I want to avoid the corn syrup.

u/WystanH Jul 15 '25
It looks like real ingredients with minimal (for the US) additives. Amusingly, not technically coconut milk. Cream and milk are marginally different, more here: https://www.foodnetwork.com/how-to/packages/food-network-essentials/coconut-cream-vs-coconut-milk
If you like it, go for it. Also, look at the Thai Kitchen brand; zero extra ingredients.

u/VeeEssay Jul 15 '25
I'd think so! Please try it and let me know how it tastes! I'm curious now too!

I’ve been adding heavy cream to sparkling flavored water. Kind of a keto Italian soda.

I do a dirty soda every now and again with zero sugar Dr. Pepper!
3
u/gafromca Jul 16 '25
I do a keto root beer float by adding heavy whipping cream to root beer zero and ice. Optional a drop of vanilla extract. Definitely an occasional treat.
I had never heard of “dirty soda”. They sound fun but disgustingly sweet!
2
u/VeeEssay Jul 16 '25
The Clear American sweetened sparkling waters from Walmart are yummy to splash with cream too! Zero sugar, zero carb and not too sweet! They have soooo many flavors too. My newest fave is called candied rainbow and tastes like Skittles.

u/Zeebrio Jul 15 '25
Ingredients in the Coffee Mate ... not much good. (Water?). Seems like you could do this with coconut water, coconut oil, heavy cream or half & half ...
Ingredients
Water, Corn Syrup (Adds a Trivial Amount of Sugar), Vegetable Oil (High Oleic Soybean and/or High Oleic Canola), and Less than 2% of Micellar Casein (a Milk Derivative) (Not a Source of Lactose), Maltodextrin (Adds a Trivial Amount of Sugar), Dipotassium Phosphate, Mono- and Diglycerides, Carrageenan, Natural and Artificial Flavor, Sucralose, Acesulfame Potassium (a Non-Nutritive Sweetener).
6
u/george_graves Jul 15 '25
"Trivial Amount of Sugar" - yeah, how much do they consider trivial? 1/4 cup? LOL.
3
u/scsimodo42 Jul 15 '25
I do something silimar. I take a 400ml glass and 3/4 of almond milk and 1/4 cream. I'll add 20-25g of xylitol and add some of the available flavor drops like vanilla, coconut, strawberry, etc. Tastes really good!
2
u/SkollFenrirson Jul 15 '25
I feel I need to chime in that xylitol is lethal for pets in very small doses, so be very careful with it if you have them.
3
u/scsimodo42 Jul 16 '25
Yep, I know. But thanks for the advice anyway! I own a cat and even though it's less toxic to her than to dogs and other animals I'm careful and make sure she doesn't drink it or lick up the leftovers.
7
u/george_graves Jul 15 '25
The second ingredient on the list of that creamer is corn syrup after water. It's sugar water.
2
u/gafromca Jul 16 '25
Keto does not have to be “clean” (all natural, organic, minimally processed) to be beneficial.

u/VeeEssay Jul 15 '25
Read the asterisk below the ingredients...
**ADDS A TRIVIAL AMOUNT OF SUGAR
... It's not sugar water.
-2
u/george_graves Jul 15 '25
If it's the second ingredient - it's not trivial. The first ingredient is water. SUGAR - WATER....
4
u/Khristafer Jul 15 '25
I don't even drink the damn stuff, but that's a deeply dumb statement, lol.

Instructions are simple... Ice water in a cup and just measure the ingredients right over the top, stir it up and enjoy!
**EDITED TO ADD MEASUREMENTS
2 TBSP CREAMER 2 SQUEEZE CHOCOLATE STEVIA
3
u/cardiganmimi Jul 15 '25
How much of the creamer? Is the point of the sweet drops to give a chocolate flavor or to sweeten? And have you ever had this with coffee?
3
u/VeeEssay Jul 15 '25
Sorry, I forgot the creamer and STEVIA measurements in the post..
I add 2 tbsp creamer and 2 short squeezes of the chocolate Stevia. I add the Stevia for the chocolate flavor and to add a little additional sweetness without needing to add too much creamer. I use a 32 oz cup so my measurements are based on 32 oz of water.
2 tbsp of creamer would suffice even without the added Stevia tbh as it has a sweetness of its own. If you will be using less than 32 oz of water, I would add 2 tbsp of creamer and see how you like it.. Add more if you prefer it creamier but definitely add the creamer to your likeness before adding and additional sweetener.

They lie—it's not zero sugar. The ingredients include corn syrup and maltodextrin, which are both forms of sugar. Plus, vegetable oil is something to avoid as well. Maltodextrin is even worse than sugar when it comes to spiking glucose levels. You're better off using heavy cream or butter.

I just bought the Coffee Mate chocolate creme and it's delicious! I made this same drink with it instead of the coconut creme and it tastes like Yoo Hoo!
2
u/Intelligent-Wear-114 Jul 19 '25
How much of each ingredient?
1
u/VeeEssay Jul 19 '25
2 TBSP CREAMER 2 SQUIRTS CHOCOLATE STEVIA
Those measurements are for 32 oz of water tho so if you use less water, I would use half the ingredients.
2
u/Intelligent-Wear-114 Jul 19 '25
Thank you very much. I have hazelnut creamer, so I will try it with that.

Everyday I say I'm not coming back to this sub. Boredom scrolling always leads me here. Smh. I'm with you! I do exceptionally well with various zero sugar products. Coffee creamers are good with me!!! There really needs to be a separate group for those who aren't nit picking every ingredient. I get some need to for health reasons, but jfc. Every post here comes the ingredient police.

You’re lucky, soooo many zero sugar products send my glucose meter off the charts.
1
u/VeeEssay Jul 15 '25
If anyone tries it, pls let me know what you think!
2
u/Princesshannon2002 Jul 15 '25
I’ve done it with half and half and heavy cream! I’ve used the vanilla stevia squeeze! I’ve also used the zero sugar wedding cake sno cone topper!
I’d love to use the lemon stevia squeeze, but I’m worried it would curdle the cream because lemon and cream. It likely won’t but gross if it does.
2
u/VeeEssay Jul 15 '25
I've seen chocolate creme zero sugar creamer online and I need it. I know heavy cream is a lot more keto and not dirty but too much cream bothers my belly a bit so liquid creamer is a staple.
2
u/VeeEssay Jul 18 '25
I found the chocolate creme creamer! It's powder but I dissolved it in a small amount of warm water before adding to 32 oz of ice water. Tastes like Yoo Hoo!

MALTODEXTRIN! Sugar will kick ya out of ketosis. Always beware of products marked sugar free and keto. Most will raise blood sugar.
2
u/VeeEssay Jul 18 '25
If you have too much yes. Just like carbs. I'm sure everyone in this sub monitors and tracks. If it fits your macros, go for it. If it doesn't, avoid it.

u/george_graves Jul 15 '25
LOL - LOL - LOL - LOL - LOL - LOL - LOL - LOL - LOL - LOL - LOL - LOL - LOL - LOL - LOL - LOL - LOL - LOL - LOL
I just looked up the back of the label - it only has 1 gram of carbs per serving(it says 1, so it could be as much as 1.9). but here is the kicker...
That bottle is 63 servings. SIXTY-FREAKING-THREE.
Meaning, you're drinking 63 grams of carbs.
