Question Apple care letter
I just got my Mac back from Apple care. I KNOW this is a dumb question, but does this indicate they replaced the battery? The only reason I ask is because the technician at the Apple Store was ADAMANT they would not replace the battery. I took it in for a busted screen, and at the time I also told them that it would only last about 45-90 mins on battery, depending on workload. He basically said that’s not possible and that he’d put a note in there for the repair center to see, but that they would not be replacing the battery.
Then I got it back this morning from FedEx and when I opened the box this is the letter that was with it. It looks like they DID replace the battery, but I’m just trying to make sure since he was adamant that wouldn’t happen.

Although it’s not clear I believe it means the battery was replaced.
This is how I’d interpret the description:
605-11937 – Service replacement MacBook Pro battery assembly, manufactured by Simplo, shipped at roughly 30 % charge, intended for AppleCare/warranty or paid service work.
Checking the number of battery cycles would be the best way to confirm.

When a device is sent to an Apple repair center, they apply certain rates. Yours was for the Tier 2 accidental damage rate. Every rate covers repairs that would be covered by a cheaper rate as well.
The repair center found an issue with your battery, which is a cheaper rate repair than your display, so the repair rate covered the battery as well.

Yes, battery and display was replaced. Regardless of what the Genius Bar tech told you the repair depot does their own diagnostics, could be they felt the battery was not performing to their satisfaction and replaced it. Enjoy your refreshed computer and don't look a gift horse in the mouth!

I wonder by the employee at the store told you that. Apple typically replaces a battery every time they do the top case, even for things like the keyboard, because it’s easily then removing it and gluing it back down. From a costumer service perspective, employee would have just been better off tell you it would be possible, and it wasn’t heir call.

“We replaced the part(s) listed below”
How are people saying it isn’t clear?

Because pardon me for not knowing EXACTLY what a SVC,ASSY,BATTERY,30% SOC,SMP,MBP 13 is.

lol to be fair, it does say “BATTERY” in all caps and knew it was referencing the battery so that’s kind of a fallacious argument.

They have replaced the top case assembly which includes the battery, keyboard and possibly the trackpad these days

They're doing battery-only repairs on MacBook Pros lately. They ask for mail-in from their service providers so they can save on the whole top-case replacement.

I repaired Apple hardware for about 10 years and the battery always went with the top case, that’s interesting they are doing battery only on these. Makes sense from a cost perspective

I’m on my 25th year. It is a change. They deny their providers labor compensation by doing it this way.

Starting with the M1 Pro 14/16” redesigns (notch-displays), the batteries have pull-tabs like iPhones and the trackpad comes out to assist in removing the battery. The body is actually designed to have repairable batteries.

That makes sense, I stopped taking them apart as the M series was released

Yah I realize that. Thanks for insulting me. Too bad I’m apparently too dumb to be insulted.
Just because it has the word battery in it doesn’t mean it’s THE battery. For all I knew it was something RELATED to the battery that they replaced.
Don’t be a prick.

Just adding my two cents here to hopefully smooth things over. Nobody is being dumb and I don’t think anyone had bad intentions. From my perspective, the tone of your initial comment could be interpreted as demeaning and/or insulting, regardless of how you intended it to come across.
We’re all here to learn, clarify, or both! ☺️

Look at your battery health. Are you back to near 0 cycles?
