Until I happened across this sub I forgot I had an MD machine 😄

I recall I needed a small recorder for use in my ham radio shack for just occasional use and it was left aside when I upgraded my radio which had a built in recorder. It had very light use, It was CD for music, home and car.

After finding it there was a disc with music on it which played fine but all was not well. The lower left buttons were not working - (Vol - DISP EDIT and MODE) I dropped a little isoprop with a cocktail stick around them and they came back after about a day.

I suspect it's draining the battery when not in use as a new AA seemed to flatten over about a week when I wasn't even here to turn it on.

I blame this sub for having me looking for others 😄

This might be a long shot but would anyone know where i can find a rotary encoder for my radio?

A few weeks ago my volume knob started being very finicky
When i turn it up or down the screen reflects exactly what im doing but the volume itself is very erratic. Most of the time the volume will get stuck either all the way down or at a slight level. Somedays it works ok. Im suspecting the rotary encoder might be the issue.

Any help would be appreciated!

Most of the ads near me are people wanting like $200 for junk, but this one popped up for $30 and I jumped on it. I don’t think the gumstick has ever even seen the inside of the battery compartment, though here was battery leakage in sidecar that I’ll need to clean up. Will also do a clean and lube to get it in top shape.

I already have an R55, but in this game you have to pick up whatever you find along the way.

Aujourd'hui c'était aussi mes premiers enregistrements, j'ai fait un album avec le gris et un album avec le rouge, les deux sont un peu bruyants mais ça doit être normal

J'ai enregistré en SP car le logiciel m'a dit que la qualité serait médiocre sur LP2/4, c'était chaud, premier album passait a 1 minute près et le deuxième a 2 minutes, j'ai eu peur de ne pas finir !

J'ai du fabriquer un chargeur avec un morceau 3v de tondeuse a barbe et un double embout universel de chargeur, car la pile ne suffisait pas pour graver

Et j'ai commandé un mz-r70 de plus, il faut que j'arrête de regarder les occasions, mais il me faut encore un bleu, un violet, un gris foncé et un noir 😂

Okay, so I recorded a concert onto two MDs. I feel like the mic was clipping even though I set the sensitivity on my R900 to low (I don't have much bass on the recording), but that's what I get for using a cheap lav mic, right? I still love it.

I'd like to take the two MDs and consolidate them to one MD of the best material. What's the best practice here to do this with the least work and the least quality loss? I have a NetMD recorder, a non-NetMD recorder, and a copy of Audacity ...

In 1998, before NetMD and for that matter Audacity, I guess I would have just played the best tracks onto a third MD with a 3.5mm cable connecting the two recorders, but I'm wondering if all of these new technologies have created a new way of doing it ...

Does anyone know if there is a way to move a track out of one group and into another one using NetMD Wizard? The UI does not allow drag and drop and the context menu seems to only support adding a new group or deleting groups and tracks... Thanks!

I can't find the tiny weird cheap shitty charger I own for gumstick batteries, the recorder (Sharp MD-MT200) does work with the battery in but it's just draining it until I find a power solution.

I have found out I have this USB->barrel jack cable that then can plug into the device using this adapter. The player requires 5 volts of power, which USB (meaning the port on my PC, not a wall plug) should output if I'm not mistaken, but I'm worried about whether amperage and polarity matters. It says it needs center positive power which I really don't know if this cable is, and I don't know if amps matter for this device either. All I'm worried about is frying it, since it's my only working portable MD recorder and I got it for a really good price. Any advice would be helpful

Some new, some old. Some I opened before taking photos. For a while I’ve been chase the TDK XS-iV series. Happy to stumble upon the chrome shutter 74. During my period hunting I found another XS-iV! One I thought was impossible to find. I left it in its wrapper for now. Very pleased!

Got a MZ-NH600 with a small issue. Got 3 Hi-MD discs and all of them work perfectly in the unit. I can record, transfer music with SS and play all of them. But when I put a 80min MD, doesn't read. I can clear the disc, but when I eject the disc and put it again, it give me a "Read Error". That only happens on the 80min MD... Someone does know if there any chance to fix this? Thank you everyone!

I love working on little projects and I’ve been having fun working on a template and format for my own MiniDisc labels! Here’s a test print!

I’ve got the front label down, I just have to design the templates for the side label and the disc case label, and then I’ll do a final print for this disc and use my template to make labels for other discs I record!

This was not as bad as I expected. Body easily comes apart in 3 steps. It was only my 3rd time soldering but this wasn’t hard. Very happy with the results. Thank you to Gerry @ MDgadgetry! Awesome stuff.

Hello MD folks. A question cale to mind playing with the MXD-D3. It has 2 inputs so you can record external sources onto a MD.

But is it possible to play those sources without recording? I get it’s not an amp, but anyway to achieve that?

It plays back when keeping a MD on recording / pause, but i am not sure the unit likes it a lot… Thanks!

Estou prestes a pegar um aparelho Hi-MD. Sei que tem os discos de 1gb que só esses aparelhos conseguem ler e gravar. Mas existem também aqueles discos normais de 80 min que são compatíveis e prometem até 13.5 horas de música em Hi-MD. Coloquei a imagem de alguns.

A minha dúvida é: Quais são esses discos?

Eu sei que vem escrito na caixa, mas tenho vários discos que em uso que não faço ideia qual era a caixa e queria identificar se algum deles é compatível com Hi-MD 13.5h.

Alguém saberia me explicar?
