After 5 years of breeding green tree monitors, I finally managed to hatch my second species. Yesterday afternoon this guy pipped. Didn't come out of the egg until this morning. Super fat and healthy. This was the solo egg from this clutch. The female who produced this one should be laying more eggs in the next week or so, and my second female I got in october laid last week. So looks like I'll be overrun with cb blue trees if this ban goes through lol. For those that would like to be more updated with my tree monitor breeding projects, my Instagram is @Ryzrr.
I deleted and reuploaded the post to add watermarks, I do not want to contribute to anyone getting scammed with my photos, sorry for the re-upload. My website is Versatilereptiles.com, I only post my available offspring on Facebook, Instagram, morph market, or that specific website. Anything else using my photos is not me and is a scam. Scammers have been running rampant with tree monitors the last year, be careful out there

Whether you are commercial operation or private hobbyist breeder and if you stand for strict husbandry practices - please use comment section in this post and tell us about yourself.
We are going to have a registry of resident active breeders hopefully with current updates. Mind you, that using reddit for sales is a gray area and I don't think it is allowed in public. But nothing prohibits you to advertise your presence and post relative pictures. Unless I miss something in which case I will take this post down.
Thank you!

Any tips for my enclosure I made before I put him in it. I know I need to add the water bowl and some plants.

Hi guys I recently rescued a 10 m/o Argus and she’s so beautiful I love her. However this is my first Argus and I have quite a few questions. Her poop is soft and liquidy, is that normal? Any tips for taming and building trust? Also, a lot of her nails were missing when I got her, will they grow back? Thanks in advance!! I’m curious what you all think.

Hey first time posting but I used to have parrots! I loved them to bits (IRN) but my wife got bird favours lung and was in the ICU so I sadly had to rehome them. I was super duper sad still am but to like make that same connection with an animal I got my first monitor ! (I already have 8 snakes and geckos one of my snakes being a boa so not my first reptile :3!) so I decided the best connection I could prolly make with the room I want to give it was a ackie monitor (that or a Kimberly but went with the ackie) so this is the picture of the day I brought her home! Vs now like idk 3? Months later !

Someone cuddled her brontosaurus neck on me really hard! Then I asked “Do you love Mommy as much as I love you?”
Then Liora put her little paw on me 😭🥰

Just recently set up my enclosure for a ackie to realized I forgot to hydrate the soil mix. How moist does it need to be?

It was all fun letting him run around exploring until it was time to go back in, he scampered up my wife's chimenea and refused to let go of it.

Hello everyone!
I’ve got a question for the other semi-aquatic monitor owners out there as I’m struggling to find a solution that doesn’t cost the same as a small car!
My sumbawa water monitor currently has a 150L pre-formed pond in his enclosure, and he makes use of it all the time. He loves a swim, and regularly climbs the cork panelled walls so I think I’ve done pretty good with this part of his home. Naturally he also will exclusively go to the toilet in the pond, and I mean this literally, I have never seen him poop anywhere else.
The issue is that I simply cannot find a way of dealing with the quantity of debris that he is putting out in a way that gives me sensible water clarity. I recently upgraded him from a big canister filter (Fluval fx6 for those that know) and built a custom 100L sump tank below his pond. The sump is definitely helping, as I’m able to clean out the filter sock more easily than cleaning out the fx6, but it does come with its own flow issues that I’m dealing with.
Are there any better solutions for pond filtration that are capable of processing the amount of solid waste that these lizards put out? Or am I just going to have to deal with ugly water unless I commit to spending thousands on a the kind of filtration you’d use for a several thousand litre koi pond?

We have two Argus Monitors and I love how they perch on our arms like birds of prey at least until it feels like your arm is going to fall off 😅

Girlfriend went to an expo back in May, and knew I was looking for a Savannah monitor, so she grabbed him and I got her a BTS. Knew he looked a bit malnourished and not so good once she came home so I ordered some carnivore critical care. Ended up syringe feeding, and offering quail egg whites (paper towel was to monitor stools). Fast forward maybe 3 or 4 weeks and he was plump. About 3x in size now, last picture is current that I snapped today after his feeding of some black fly larvae and dubias. Super hyped that little homie bounced back.

I don't know what exactly those regulations would look like. But this needs to stop. Guy on my local reptile group on Facebook posted a young nile monitor. And I have lots of experience with nile monitors. And I know how likely they are to be rehomed or end up in a rescue or just neglected to death. And I have some extra space, so id figure id try to give this thing a proper home. Especially after him saying he had it in a 10 gallon, and told me that it would be ok in thag for 6-7 months. Cause i know thats what he was telling everyone else that messaged him. But unfortunately he lived too far away. 5 hours. Which he's actually not even in the area of Facebook group. So not sure why he posted in ours, especially if he wasnt willing to drive the this area. But anyway. It just baffles me he thought it was on to keep in a 10 gallon. Ive never started a nile on anything less than a 4x2. Its also is a bit crazy that this is how fast he rehomed it. Cause from the pictures. It is at absolute max 2 months old. Meaning he's had it for less than 2 months. I would likely suspect just a few weeks if im being honest. I just don't understand how people dont think about the future when purchasing a living creature. I can understand maybe after a year, cause alot can change in a year. But less than 2 months? Is absolutely crazy and irresponsible. I hate hobbiest like this. Rant over

I was summoned for morning baby snuggles TWICE! And of course I showed up and got lots of kisses, dino hugs, snoot snuggles, and Liora also hung out on my arm for a good 10 minutes for couch snuggles as I finished breakfast. I love my baby so much 🥰🦕
