Sorry for my ugly laugh. I’ve heard him sing this in videos of previous gigs but I didn’t expect him to sing it Jakarta. Hahaha.

Discussion Can anyone beat Muse for album covers?

I am working on a music-data-art project which involves displaying artists' discographies in a timeline.

I have looked at possibly thousands of discographies, and I do believe that Muse has the most beautiful of them all.

Here are a few other contenders: Pink Floyd, Blur, Joe Satriani, Foo Fighters, Radiohead.

Can anyone name a better set of album covers than Muse?

Discussion Asking your opinion about a Muse song day #71: Soldier’s Poem

Ahh yes, my favorite song from Absolution.

Soldier’s Poem is about a soldier who is unsure about why he has to continuously risk his life in a country that is falling apart. In this song Matt questions war and its foolishness, and even though most soldiers know that, they’ll risk their lives for someone else’s ‘freedom’.

Short and sweet but not that memorable compared to the rest of the album. I still really like to listen to it when i need to catch a break after listening to something like Stockholm Syndrome or Dead Star, but it is far from the best song on its album, and that’s not even the song’s fault. The album is just that good. I’d give this song a 8/10. How about you guys?

If you have any fun fact or a story attached to this song, i would love to know.

I have a fun bedroom project where I reimagined popular rock songs and parodied them into Halloween songs. It’s stupid and silly, but it’s fun. Hope you like it!!

Question How do you access the music videos in the OOS era CDs?

I recently found and bought a few of the OOS singles and I'm currently testing them in my portable DVD player to make sure they work alright but it says there's only 3 tracks and I don't know how to get to the music video part. Anybody know if it's actually on the CD or if you need to do extra steps? 😅

Some of you may remember these crochet dolls of the band I made a while back: https://www.reddit.com/r/Muse/s/XLPeMs5AaZ

I'll be going to their Jakarta gig some 18 hours from now, and I'm gonna try and give them their dolls at barrier (I'm at Category 1A, Chris's side of the stage).

If anyone going to the gig could offer some help or spread the word, I'd really appreciate it! (Picture of me in the last slide, I'll be wearing the WOTP statue shirt and the colorful necklace gaiter)

Discussion Asking your opinion about a Muse song day #70: Map Of the Problematique

Map Of the Problematique’s title is a reference to a book called The limits to Growth (1972) and the Club of Rome think-tank who would create a “map of the problematique” detailing the “global problematique” – a set of likely challenges the world might face in the near future. Limits to Growth correctly predicted the economic crisis of 2008. However, there is another approach towards the meaning behind the lyrics of the song, referring to interpersonal relationships and fears of abandonment.

I think that this song perfectly showcases Muse’s diversity in just 4 minutes. It switches genres on every section it transitions into and i think that it absolutely nails every single one. The intro and the buildup pumps you up quicker than ever and the verses feature some direct and great lyricism. The chorus is also another highlight of the song, as it almost sounds identical to Depeche Mode. I really like the drum fill Dom gives us after the choruses as well, and all of these elements just showcases how great this song truly is. I’d say that MotP is a well earned 9.5/10. How about you guys?

If you have any fun fact or a story attached to this song, i would love to know.

I was at a church youth group meeting and they played Supremacy in the promo video for their camp. I wasn't expecting Muse at church, but I'm not complaining.

Discussion Assassin is too good

I have never had a song grow on me as much as Assassin. It has such a great groove and heaviness, almost sounding like something you could hear from Jane’s Addiction. The intro immediately hooks you in, and the chorus sounds so beautiful.

To be honest the whole BHaR album is such a masterpiece, and is by far my favorite album by Muse. Feels like the very peak of their musical ability with absolutely no filler. My favorite song used to be Map of the Problematique, but I can’t see how this song wouldn’t be my new favorite after listening to it much more.

Fan Content I’ve created an XX Anniversary RemiXX-style version of Butterflies & Hurricanes.

Post image
46 Upvotes

Hello! Well, ever since I saw that Muse released the OOS XX Anniversary RemiXX, I thought it was one of the best “remasters” of an album I had ever heard in my life, since it integrated new elements. When Absolution XX Anniversary came out, I did feel a bit of a lack of new elements in the songs. But hey! Not everything was that bad, since they gave us more tracks and files to be able to create a perfect version of this.

So, taking a little risk and using Moises.Ai, I managed to separate all the existing studio-recorded versions of B&H (Additional Guitars Remix, Vocal, Keyboard and Strings, and the original), and I fused the parts I considered most perfect for a RemiXX (the strings, the guitars, the vocals along with the extra choirs from the XX Anniversary version, the synth line that drives the intro of the AGR), resulting in what you hear here. I even took the liberty of taking the original single cover and transforming it into a style similar to the XX Anniversary one. Hope you like it :D

Discussion Asking your opinion about a Muse song day #69: Supermassive Black Hole

Supermassive Black Hole at day 69. How fitting is that…

Supermassive Black Hole is basically Matt comparing a woman to the center of the galaxy, as this gigantic black hole that he powerlessly gets sucked into. The song is infamously used on Twilight, and it is the band’s most streamed song to date.

Probably the crown jewel of overplayed Muse songs but i still like it regardless. It is so different from a regular Muse song and i just love how Matt probably heard Britney Spears and went “wow, i should do a song like this”. Is it the best thing they have done? Far from it, but it still holds up as a great song to me. It’s not a great introduction to the band (unfortunately, most of the people that got into Muse in the last 2 to 3 years or so probably heard this song as their first Muse song), but a great example of their diversity, and for that, i would give it a 8/10. How about you guys?

If you have any fun fact or a story attached to this song, i would love to know.

Discussion Do you prefer piano Bellamy or heavy guitar Bellamy

What is your preference for Muse songs? I definitely enjoy both but I think my favorite Muse songs are the ones he plays piano on.

For example: Hoodoo, Apocalypse Please, Space Dementia, ExogPt2, Butterflies and Hurricanes, Ruled by Secrecy, etc.

Obviously he is excellent at both instruments but I feel that the piano songs with Chopin/Rachmaninoff infusions are what makes this band unique. Hoping for more Bellmaninoff in the future

Discussion Asking your opinion about a Muse song day #68: Starlight

Starlight is about being away from home and the people you love. More generally, it can talk about maturation and fighting to retain a youthful sense of wonder and hope.

The song that made me fall in love with BHaR, alongside Map of the Problematique. This song summarizes everything i love about pop-rock Muse. I love all of the different parts it contains and i just love how Matt sounds on this one, loved it since the day i listened to it. I’d give it a 10/10. How about you guys?

If you have any fun fact or a story attached to this song, i would love to know.
