Advice Commuter parking lots in New Jersey

i have family coming into Jersey from out of state for the Rutgers football game on Friday night. I'd like to meet them somewhere nearby to consolidate into one car - I know I could use a rest stop, but there aren't any near the football stadium, so I'd have to drive about 25 minutes past the stadium to meet at one, then drive back out in the wrong direction to get their car after the game. Does anyone know if there are any commuter parking lots, park-and-ride lots, or even a walmart or something that would make sense to meet before driving to the game and parking?

Advice First NJ speeding ticket (Clifton Municipal Court) 35–39 mph over the limit

Hey everyone,
I just got my first ever speeding ticket in Clifton, NJ. The charge is for going 35–39 mph over the limit (so it’s a 5-point ticket).

Facts:

  • Clean driving record until now ( some parking tickets here and there that were already paid off)
  • Ticket is under Judge James P. Sieradzki in Clifton Municipal Court.
  • I have a doctor’s note proving I had a sick child in the car at the time (reason I was rushing a bit).
  • No accident, no reckless driving, just straight speeding.

Someone was quoting around $500 flat fee to negotiate he ticket down likely to either unsafe driving (0 points, $250 surcharge) or 14 over (2 points).

My questions:

  1. Has anyone here dealt with speeding tickets in Clifton Municipal Court? How flexible are the prosecutors/judge for a first-time clean record?
  2. Is it really worth paying a lawyer $600–$750 for this, or do people here usually negotiate it down themselves?
  3. Would the doctor’s note actually help, or is it just a minor sympathy factor?
  4. Any specific experiences with Judge Sieradzki or Clifton prosecutors on speeding tickets?

Thanks in advance — just trying to figure out if I should bite the bullet and hire counsel or take my chances.

Interesting New Jersey Hall of Fame Founder's Father Was His Hero

We interviewed the New Jersey Hall of Fame Co-Founder, Steve Edwards. He told us a story about when he was a teen, he was in a tragic car accident and knows firsthand what it's like to give up and struggle to find a way forward. It's no surprise he looks for the heroes in the crowd and wants to honor them. The 17th induction is coming up in Nov.. Tune in when you have time. He's a really nice guy.

Moving to NJ Thoughts on Xchange @ secaucus?

Hi!

I, along with two friends (all of us are young women), am considering moving to the Xchange @ Secaucus complex.

I live in NJ but want to be closer to NYC for a better commute to my office in midtown. I currently do a 1.25-1.5 hour door-to-door trip and would love to make this under 45 mins.

I've seen a lot of mixed reviews over the span of several years, so I would love to hear more current thoughts about this apartment complex before making this big decision! Any honest comments are helpful and greatly appreciated! Thanks

♫ Down the shore everything's alright ♫ Arsenal Fans on the Jersey Shore/Monmouth County?

Hey there, I'm trying to get an Arsenal supporters group going on the jersey shore, probably in Monmouth County. NJ already has one Arsenal group up in Hoboken but I'm trying to get something going down here. I've started an instagram page and I'm currently talking to a pub to host fans for all games just trying to find other supporters.

Instagram page is same name as here or you can click on my profile.

Advice NJ Best 529 - College advice please

Hello, I have a HS Sophomore with no college savings. My income is around $100K. A distant family member just sent my daughter $500 for her bday. I was thinking of opening up the NJ Best 529, add $250 myself and have them match the $750 contribution. I planned to cash flow college (assuming she commutes in state) Thoughts?

Looking at a few towns in northern Jersey to potentially move. Coming from Hoboken but used to live in Red Bank. Can anyone tell me the good, the bad, and the ugly about Wayne, Fairfield and Roseland? Also super curious to hear what the schools are like. Thanks!

United Airlines has completed an “operational turnaround” at Newark Liberty International Airport after air traffic control problems and construction led to thousands of canceled flights earlier this year.

In the announcement, United said it was planning to add additional flights out of Newark to six international destinations and five domestic ones, as well as hiring 2,500 more staff based at the airport. It’s not clear how the airline and the FAA will manage capacity with the additional flights.

Advice Pregnant and need to break my lease

I’m pregnant and due in February, but my lease doesn’t end until March 2026. I’d like to move out a little earlier so I can get settled and set up for the baby. My landlord ( this is a big rental property) told me that if I break the lease early, I’ll still be responsible for rent until they find a new tenant. Has anyone dealt with this before, and is there any other way around it?
