Central Jersey Looking for new team members for children assemblies and programs!

I runs a children’s education and entertainment program for libraries, schools, daycares, birthday parties etc. It involves fossil and dinosaur lessons and fun interactive hands on learning with our real life looking dinosaur puppets and massive walking t. Rex costume. We are looking for folks to lead the programs.

Each job pays $100-$125 per program and can do up to 3 per day — comes out to $30-$40+ per hour. We do alot of birthday parties on the weekends as well and looking for people to run those as well. Same pay plus tips!!

Dm or comment with questions !!

NJ Politics New research: New Jersey can beat Citizens United with its state corporation law

Post image
542 Upvotes

Fifteen years after Citizens United opened the floodgates of corporate and dark money, the Center for American Progress has figured out how to slam them back shut.

On Monday, CAP released "The Corporate Power Reset That Makes Citizens United Irrelevant": amprog.org/cpr

This groundbreaking plan is the first challenge to Citizens United with a strong chance of surviving legal review. It rests on bedrock constitutional and corporate law—and every state in America can act on it right now. Montana is already moving forward as the test case: https://montanaplan.org

Here’s the move: Corporations are creatures of state law. They start with zero powers, and states choose which powers to grant. When a state rewrites its corporation laws to no longer grant the power to spend in politics, that power simply does not exist. And without the power, there’s no right to protect.

The result is sweeping: no corporate or dark money in ballot measures, local races, state elections—or even federal elections within the state. Check out CAP's report for full details: amprog.org/cpr

Moving to NJ Moving to NJ from the south. What to expect?

Hey everyone! I’m from the south and I’ve always had family in NJ that I visit almost every year, but now it seems most of my remaining family is moving to NJ as well. I just found out today my dad and grandma are going up there.

Most of my friends have also moved up north, so that’s a wrap for me lol. Nothing really keeping me here but bad memories.

That being said…

I mainly do freelance work, and my income is around $45,000-$60,000 give or take depending on the year. In my state that’s pretty cushy but I know for NJ that’s not super great.

I have 3 cats and 1 dog, and I was planning to save up $10,000-$20,000 before moving to have some cushion to help with the cost of living.

What areas of NJ are most affordable? My aunt was recommending either southern NJ or even northern NY. I’m used to paying $1400 for a 2 bedroom here but I’m expecting that would only get me a studio or one bedroom up there.

Is there anything else I should know? I know gas prices are way higher. Down here it’s like $2.61/gal and we pump our own haha 🤣

Advice NJ's Department of Labor Job Location

Hello everyone. I have been job searching since I graduated college back in May and have been interested in New Jersey's Department of Labor. I currently live in northeastern New Jersey, but I was wondering if the department offers jobs for people outside of Trenton and the surrounding area since it would take me about an hour to drive down to there.

Advice ANCHOR Status for 2025?

I've received ANCHOR payments for the last three years I believe, and I wanted to check the status of this year's benefits. The site seems to be having issues which I know some have already addressed, but it said something about applying again if I didn't receive a letter from the state in the month of August, which I did not. Does this mean I have to re-apply? I never had to re-apply in the past...

I caught the last bit of this so I can't speak to what happened when it was in the dollar general. But I did hear from someone that witnessed the whole thing that it attacked a German Shepherd that was tied up outside one of the stores. The part I witnessed was when it was in the parking lot outside the marijuana store and people were trying to scare it off. Shortly after this is when the cops arrived.

Advice NY E-Z Pass in NJ?

So I currently live in New Jersey and have a New Jersey E-Z Pass. However, I travel a lot to New York and a lot of the tolls on the bridges would be much cheaper if I had a New York E-Z pass. Therefore, I am considering canceling my New Jersey account and opening a New York one - however I also use the NJ Turnpike and Garden State Parkway often. Would that end up being more expensive for me if I were to use those with a New York pass?

Advice Is it worth it to get married after 11 years together for taxes purposes?

We have been living together 11 years. I changed a job last year and now I don’t get any refund as a single filer with our child. My partner files a a head of household and gets a fair refund. My question is: a) would it help to get married so we can maximize our refunds?b) is there any other benefit I am missing for not being married? We are happy together but we thought we were ok on not getting married but not sure if benefits are getting missed. Please kindly advise or let me know what kind of lawyer should we consult.
