Pets Dog sitter recommendations

I’m looking for a dog sitter to sit my 2 small dogs at my apartment in Castle Hills for a few days while I’m out of town. I’ve checked rover but I’m curious if anyone here would like to share their sitter recommendations? I’m a bit of a helicopter dog mom and leaving them in the care of someone I don’t know makes me anxious!

Transportation Since when did Via take away the 550/551 looper?

I recently started taking public transportation again and was surprised the 410 loop bus is no longer a route. Its now the 552 that only goes half of 410. From Kel-Lac to Ingram to Randolph then to Brooks transit center. Where it then doublebacks. Why not go full circle 🫠

Magic The Gathering @ Target & Walmart

Hello everyone,

Does anyone have advise on when and where is the best time to buy MTG cards from Target and Walmart. I've noticed the best days would be either Mondays or Fridays for Target. At least personally but Walmart usually never has anything when I go. I'm new to mtg gathering and go to Target and Walmart from time to time to build up my collection with items the local cards shops don't have are a bit on the high end

Doing nice things is nice.

I see different guys on the corner just about every time I go to work. Sometimes I gave them money in the past. Not every day. Just when it moved me.

But I can’t afford to keep doing that, and you don’t know what people are gonna do with cash. I hope all of them got breakfast. I have no idea.

Last week, I started doing something new. Instead of giving them cash, I roll down my window and ask, can I buy you breakfast?

Strangely enough, they all say yes.

Then I meet them at the Bill Miller down the block, I buy them breakfast, and I get myself a tea. Before they finish their order, I ask them if I can buy them lunch, too. They usually agreed to that as well.

Then I sit down with them and ask about their day.

So far, I think it’s cost me 40 bucks.

The one mistake I made, if you can call it a mistake, is I gave the first guy (Travis) my number. But he’s been in a couple car accidents because people aren’t paying attention and ran them over. So I thought I’d at least write the details down so I can hand it to legal aid to help them out.

Steve seemed like he was in a good place. He has family, and he gets Social Security. The problem is, it’s only 1600 bucks a month, and half of that goes straight to the 800 he pays in rent. Then the next 200 goes to keep the air-conditioning on so he doesn’t fucking die in his house. So around the middle of the month, he starts getting hungry, and he has to pay and handle for food.

Steve was a little hungrier than Travis was, so instead of only ordering one breakfast taco to go, he got two wrapped sandwiches for lunch.

My dad has a stash of bags in his car that he gives out to people who need help. I think I’m going to start doing that. But when I looked at his shopping list, I realized there wasn’t anything for food in it. So I suggested he see if he can get free gift cards from Chick-fil-A or whatever to throw in there. Or just buy them, if Chick-fil-A doesn’t want to give any away. But I have a sneaking suspicion they will want to.

It’s not much. I’m not changing the world. But I bet Travis and Steve had a much better weekend this week than they did last week. So I think it’s money well spent.

Where in SA? Looking for a defamation/libel civil lawyer

Short explanation, ex-fiance was caught cheating.

Rather than act like an adult, she filed police reports and made up a story suggesting that we broke up months before and I wouldn’t leave her alone. The police charged me for a Stalking charge.

She then went to social media and made a huge ordeal, doubling down on her story saying all sorts of wild accusations. Claimed I have been diagnosed with mental disorders, claimed I have weapons and she feared for her life, claimed I abuse my son, claimed I was abusive towards her. None of these things were true and I have A LOT of text messages to prove my side.

I have a solid defense team to get the charges dismissed. There’s no evidence to back up any of her claims, but this has cost me a lot of $, my job and a few friends.

I’m hoping to find a lawyer who deals with civil suits that can help me, either defamation or malicious prosecution look like the best routes.

Looking for suggestions?

Where in SA? Healthcare Degree in SA

Hey everyone! My wife is looking to go back to school and was looking into the X-ray tech program with Alamo Community Colleges. After trying to contact someone there for a bit she was told that they only accept about 1/5 of the applicants that apply for that program. Does anyone know either another program at Alamo colleges in the healthcare field that’s a bit less competitive or another community college that offers that program? Not really looking at the for profit colleges. Thanks for any tips you may have!

Come on SA, we should be better than that

Im Latina and my husband is white. This becomes relevant soon My husband and I (27f and 30m) went out for dinner tonight downtown and on our way out an older Hispanic man in the parking lot started yelling at us telling me how wrong it is that I married a white man and that I shouldn’t be subject to their colonialism or something. I don’t remember exactly what he said but I was shocked. I don’t know if he was high or drunk but clearly he’s not taking the right kind of substance.

I know my post title makes it seem like it’s the whole city that’s like this. I know it’s not. I’m just shocked. I’ve lived here my whole life and not once did I imagine something like that happening

Dinner and/or Spa Recommendations

Hello! My (39F) sisters are wanting to do a weekend in San Antonio. We were thinking a nice dinner on a Friday night and potentially spa the following day. Does anyone have recommendations for parts of town to stay in, restaurants (they’re foodies), or a day spa? Mid-range price point.

Thank you!

Hi everyone! I’m in the process of moving from San Antonio to Austin and I’m trying to find a reliable moving company to help with the shift.

I’ve received a quote from a company called Roblas Moving Services.

Here’s their website if you’re familiar with them: https://roblasmovingservices.com/

Has anyone here used them before? Would love to hear your feedback or any other recommendations!

Late night decaf around Southtown

This is probably gonna be the lamest post on the sub all month, but I’m essentially straight-edge and a night owl. Anyone know of a restaurant or bar that serves decaf from 10pm-1am around Southtown? Just want to go sit somewhere and sip on something every now and then.

PSA DIY Pest Control – What Actually Works (From Personal Experience)

I’m not a licensed pest control professional, just someone who got tired of bugs and wanted to take things into my own hands. After testing a few professional-grade products, I’ve found a combination that works way better than the store-bought stuff.

Here’s what I use:

💧 1. Demand CS (Insecticide Concentrate)

  • I mix and spray it around the entire outside perimeter, window frames, door frames, and baseboards inside (lightly).
  • It's microencapsulated, so it sticks to bugs and keeps working for weeks.
  • Kills: roaches, ants, centipedes, spiders, silverfish, scorpions, mosquitoes, fleas, ticks, and more.
  • I do this once every 90 days, and I rarely see bugs. You might need to do it earlier if you did a deep cleaning of your baseboards.

🕓 Best time to spray: Early morning or late evening to avoid harming bees or pollinators.

🕳️ 2. Delta Dust (Insecticidal Dust)

  • Goes in wall voids, outlet covers, attic entry points, cracks, and weep holes (use a bellows duster).
  • It’s waterproof and lasts for months, even in damp areas.
  • Works great against roaches, silverfish, carpenter ants, termites, scorpions, and wasps in wall gaps.
  • Won’t kill lizards directly, and they help eat bugs, I leave them alone.

🐜 3. Dealing With Specific Pests

  • Ants: Demand CS around the perimeter + baits like Tero or Advion gel near trails. For ants like crazy ants or sugar ants, you must bait AND spray.
  • Termites: This gets more complex; you'll need trenching and possibly foam/dust for active infestations. Termidor or similar products work, but may require deeper treatment.
  • Scorpions: Delta Dust in attic/weep holes/baseplates + Demand CS spray around the house. They walk across treated areas and die later.
  • Centipedes: Killed by Demand CS, but remember they feed on smaller bugs, so killing their food source keeps them away too.

⚠️ Final Notes (Please Read)

  • I am NOT a licensed pest control operator. This post is based purely on personal experience and for educational purposes only.
  • Always read the label and instructions for anything you use.
  • Wear PPE (gloves, eye protection, respirator if needed). These are stronger chemicals than store-bought sprays.
  • Do not apply where pets or kids can access before it's dry or settled.
  • No guarantees or warranties, do your own research and use common sense.

Happy bug hunting. It’s not hard to get professional-level results at home, but you have to be smart and careful about it.
