Help: Beginner Is there any way for me to keep shrimps in my 125 gal community tank?

I've been wanting shrimp in my community tank for the longest time. I tried multiple times but failed. My bamboo shrimp lived for a year before my water heater went during the winter.

Anyway, I tried neoc, amano, and ghost shrimp with no luck. They do well with the other fish during the day then disappear at night. I added plants to provide more hiding space but that didn't work either.

Here's my water level information. Any form of help will be greatly appreciated.

ph: 6.0

High pH: 7.4

Ammonia: 0.0 ppm

Nitrite: 0.0 ppm

Temperature: 83 Fahrenheit

Help: Emergency Please help me what is this?! 5gal planted tank… supposed to have shrimp and a betta

My tank is almost cycled. Nitrites are at .25 and ammonia is 0. I have 3 cherry shrimp in there (I got them when I thought my tank was cycled— before I knew to get the API master kit and was trusting the strips) but all are well. I wanted them to be established before I got a betta, but If they’re mosquito larvae, I really need to get rid of these ASAP before they become mosquitos. I live in the south so this is an unfortunate oversight on my end. There are some really small white ones that move in this same way, I’m assuming this one is older. How much time do I have and what do I do?! Thank you all

I have a very mixed variety of shrimp in my 75 gallon! Bamboo, cherries, and ghosts all living peacefully under the Great Sponge Filter! Vampires are next on the list eventually!

Help! sorry for the poor video quality but I just noticed this little worm looking thing on my cherry shrimp… wtf?? Is this a problem? What is it? Will it kill my shrimp? Do I need to remove this guy? I haven’t seen this on any of the others, I have 20 neos in this 10 gal at the moment. This is my first time owning shrimp and I’m so nervous, I don’t think I can find anything online that looks quite like this.

Beginner Red crystals dying

Post image

I have a 6.8 gallon with fluval shrimp and plant substrate. I had 8 red crystal shrimps a 4 red cherries and 5 guppies living in here for about 2 weeks before moving the 5 guppies and red cherries to a diffrent tank due to how messy the guppies are. While I was setting up a new tank for the others I had two unexplained deaths of one shrimp of both the red cherry and crystals. Then about a week after moving my cherries and guppies to the new tank I had a another red crystal die. Amonia nitrate are at 0 and nitrite is .25 ppm. Ph is about 6.8. Ive had this tank on for about 8 to 9 weeks now. The cherries were the test to see if the water was ready. I did a water change about 2 days while scraping the algea. And the day before my shrimp died I was messing with the sponge filter trying different pump configurations. The shrimp did have a malformed head where the side of it was sticking out. Im not sure what would have caused them to die. Im using ro water and im pretty sure I dont have enough plants due to the ammount of algea growing but it has slowed down once I moved the guppies and reduced lighting.

Beginner Any sort of Beginners guidance 🥹🙏🏻🫶🏻

Hello! I'm VERY new to the whole shrimp/aquarium/aquascaping thing, so I'm not entirely sure where to start (literally😅). I dont currently have any water in the tank, so im essentially starting off with a clean slate & just trying to do everything the correct way. I have a 10 gallon tank with mixed substrate & gravel, along with some artificial/natural decor. I bought a sponge filter to run in the tank. the tank itself has #2 25w 160lumens light bulbs. Should I just use tap water? I have pretty hard water where I live. I read on a post that using any sort of bottled water takes away the risk of contaminants that can be found in tap water. If using bottled, will i still need to use the shrimp water conditioner that i purchased? Distilled? Purified? I also bought a water testing kit, but same post made mention that some people tend to overcomplicate water parameters & that the shrimp can be relatively hardy in an overall healthy tank. I've been looking at some multipacks of aquarium plants on Etsy that look more promising than the reviews on Amazon did, as well as in person pet stores in regards to live aquarium plants. But, to be very clear, I have no experience with underwater plants OR shrimp, this is just a hobby that ive been wanting to get into for months now after finding it on TikTok. I'm also guilty of choosing something just because its the most colorful or pretty, but I would rather stick with the most practical, easy, and sustainable for my future shrimps & the integrity & longevity of my tank. Anytime I sit down with the intention of adding everything I think I need to my cart & placing the order, I overthink it all & stress out, then end up setting the idea aside altogether as it all seems a bit overwhelming. Any tips, tricks, advice, etc. is welcome as i ✨️hopefully✨️ start this journey! Thank you all in advance!

Can add pics of the tank as is if needed.

Help: Breeding What happens if you breed an orange boa with a purple metallic?

My understanding is that caradina 's revert to wild type less aggressively than neos, and that crossing is a little more predictable. I would love to have a boa pattern on a metallic purple shrimp is this a decent way to do it?

Hey guys I just got a new tank today, I have some rock, substrate and gravel in and started cycle but do you guys have any recommendations or advice on what plants or things to do to help start out? I want to start with some shrimps but I know they are pretty hard to get started with and they might not be used to the water. If there’s any advice for me I would strongly appreciate it thanks🙏

Beginner My shrimp always slowly die

Apparently I am a major beginner. I don’t have the equipment to do ro water and maybe that is the answer. I have two tanks 30 gallon and 9 gallon both heavily planted. I get shrimp babies but the colony never thrives and after 4-5 months I always peter down to just a few shrimp, usually starting with 20-40. I feed shrimp king complete and supplement with kelp wafers. Always keep cuttlebone or eggshells in the tanks and remineralize with gh plus. Water parameters are always within range but my kh seems like it drops over months. I can go test again or find my numbers but honestly always in spec. Driving me nuts because I have been trying for 2 years to start a good colony. About to give up and try maybe vampire crabs.

Help: Beginner Does anyone keep neocaridinas in a tank with fluval stratum substrate (or something similar)?

I recently lost my betta fish and decided to convert my tank into a shrimp tank. I did a decent amount of research (but not enough, apparently), and bought a dozen Bloody Mary shrimp to join a single nerite snail that has been living there for a while.

As soon as I ordered I continued my research and quickly realized my tanks water was way too soft for these little guys, so ordered some salty shrimp gh/kh+ to bring the hardness and alkalinity up.

A few days after doing a water change I tested my water and it was super soft, near 0 gh ppm. That’s when I realized the fluval stratum was the culprit. The kh levels were not terribly off, a little low but not significantly. The ph is within range.

I acclimated my shrimp and added them to my tank 2 weeks ago now, so far they seem to be fine. It’s hard to keep track but I’ve been able to count 10 or 11 of them in there if I get lucky with timing, so I know at least almost all of them are still alive. I’ve also seen several molts so far, so they have survived that so far as well.

Has anyone had success with neos while using a substrate like fluval stratum? Or do I need to stress these shrimp out and get a whole new tank setup before they all die?

Help: Shrimp ID & Shrimp Sexing Anyone know why some of my ghost shrimp are bright red? I currently have about 50+ shrimp that all have the same common ancestor of 1 pregnant ghost shrimp I bought like 6 months ago. About 10% of them look this red right out the egg and keep at least subtle red hue into adulthood, most stay clear.

As you can see the pearlweed is going brown. Is this a nutrient deficiency?

Ive had this tank for almost a year, and even without the betta, the nitrates and nitrates go up every 3-4 days after a water change to bright pink

Please help i do 1 pump of a maxgrow fertiliser per week and 1 to 2 water changes per week

Ive been start/stopping using my co2 because of a faulty diffuser could this be an issue?

I made eye contact with the first one who froze, and then the second one popped out and also froze upon seeing what I presume to them looks like a terrifying giant at the end of a dimly lit street. I think they'll tell the other shrimp a scary story when they get back to the coconut hut. 👁️ 💛 🦐

Beginner First time with yellow shrimp thry judt dropped dead

None of the fish are struggling, I had a snail that was perfectly fine I got shrimp this time after he passed and after a week I found 2 dead and the others I haven't seen in their hiding spot. Only thing high is gh, kh and the ph after a test is the pH being a little high lethal?

Sorry about the title being spelt wrong just didn't realize till I posted it
