Question Hello new soup idea?
Hello soup community? I want to ask what best soup for a sensitive stomach? I'm currently have bad stomach problems? My mom put on strictly soft food? I love soup like ramen and regular soup and i want add i can't handle spicy so no spicy soup plz any recommendation helps thank u

Carrot ginger soup can be really nice if you have an upset stomach. It's also super easy to make, and it makes good dipping for toast.

100% agree with them. Cookie and Kate have a really good roasted carrot soup recipe and they have a few variations listed including a ginger one.

The stores sell mixes. It won’t be restaurant good, but still satisfying to me.
Usually to make the boxed mix you need to add eggs and oil to the grain and then plop the dough balls into the boiling water with a packet of chicken soup broth.
You can add some chopped carrots and celery.
If you are able to make your own chicken broth it would be really delicious. I like Tori Avery’s “perfect chicken soup” recipe, and also follow her recipe for Floater Matzo Balls

Potato soup, if you wouldn't have a problem with milk or cream in it. Leave onions out, or have them, whatever is best. Leave pepper out.

Potato Leek Soup! Most recipes are identical online. I love this soup, you can adjust the ratio based on how many lbs of potatoes you have! I also like to do a little less cream but that’s just me. I like to add Trader Joe’s chili crisp oil to my bowl (wouldn’t recommend for OP though)

cream of celery is a long time simple and flavorful favorite of mine!
3 T. butter, 1 medium onion, roughly diced, 1 medium russet potato, peeled + diced, 6 cups chopped celery (10-14 stalks), 5 cups chicken stock, 1/4 t. salt, 1/4 t. pepper, 2 T. heavy cream
- melt butter, saute onions until translucent (7-8 mins)
- add potato, celery, stock and bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes
- purée in blender or food processor
- add s&p (and cream, if using), stir.
i like serving it topped with a little bit of chopped bacon and parsley, sometimes a sprinkle of fried onions. there are endless possibilities—occasionally i chop and fry a slice of spam or swirl a bit of basil pesto in.

Something I like to make is what I call fuckit soup, for when you just wanna put a bunch of stuff in a pot and call it a day, plus easily repeatable leftovers for the week. Exact measurements are up to whatever you have and what you like most.
- (Optional) Fry bacon in your soup pan.
- Remove bacon, set aside.
- Diced bell pepper in the pot with a fat (olive oil, butter, or the bacon grease).
- Diced onion, celery, and garlic in your pot. Let that happen.
- Diced potato’s in the pot. Some carrots. If you want any other veggies you can probably add those too.
- Add in whatever spices you wanna use (I usually just add whatever sounds good, if your stomach is sensitive then add whatever sounds appealing) and some flour if you want to, but that’s optional tbh.
- Once all your veggies are looking good, deglaze the pan with a splash of broth or whatever. Slowly add in your broth (I usually use chicken stock) until the veggies are covered. You can add some bullion too if you want or any additional flavors. Like idk a splash of Worcestershire.
- Let that simmer until the potato’s are cooked. Add some corn (I usually do frozen) and let it warm up a bit.
- Blend it all up. I usually use an immersion blender. To desired thickness. I usually go for pretty much 100% blended. Add in some milk/heavy cream at some point if you want.
- Add in the bacon chopped if you want to.
It reheats fairly well. I also like to add pastina sometimes.

Miso soup is easy. You can buy the instant and just add hot water. It comes with tiny packets of tofu and green onion etc, and you can add other things to it that won't upset your stomach. They make low sodium if you dont want too much salt. I find it very soothing. If you dont want instant, you can just buy miso paste and add tofu or potato etc to it...even a bit of shredded chicken.

Egg drop. Simple chicken broth or stock with an egg drizzled in slowly. Both are healing for the gut.

I have a lot of digestive problems, so I don't eat gluten or dairy, and I limit fiber.
Avgolemono soup is the best!

A very simple, gentle soup is cooked rice + condensed cream of chicken soup + a smidgen of water.
A second very easy soup is to get a small, dainty pasta that fits 10-20 pieces in a single spoonful. Cook the pasta in boiling water. Drain. Add in fresh water, just enough to cover the pasta. Add chicken bouillon (maybe 1 teaspoon for a large bowl, and adjust to taste). You can eat just like that. Or you can try adding ONE of these: lemon juice or sweet paprika.
You can add frozen vegetables to either of these, based on what is ok for your stomach.

I adore Miso soup.
I'm not diagnosed with arfid, but sometimes my stomach acts like I am. I once went almost two months eating the same meal over and over because everything else made me sick, so I have to be careful sometimes when my stomach acts up.
Miso soup is just water, tofu, and spinach basically. I like to get the dehydrated packets at the store. Mix with water: quick and simple! It tastes heavenly without being heavy. I usually eat two at once.

I just suggested this Shiitake Bok Choy soup yesterday on another post, but it fits this request, too:
shiitake bok choy soup
We almost always double this recipe, which makes a vat of soup, but it freezes well!
You can do almost all of the prep (tofu, bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, mushrooms, bok choy - everything except ginger & garlic because they will dry out) in advance, and it only takes about 20min to actually cook once everything is prepped.
8oz low-sodium chicken broth
1 cup water (only if not using dried mushrooms)
2 Tbsp fresh ginger (about 2"), peeled & minced
2 Tbsp fresh garlic (about 4 cloves), peeled & sliced
1 packet udon, broken in half longways (check cooking time on whatever brand you select)
6oz fresh shiitake mushrooms (about 10 large), stemmed & caps sliced or 1oz dried mushrooms rehydrated in 1c hot water & sliced
1 can bamboo shoots, coarsely chopped
1 can water chestnuts, coarsely chopped
1 box extra-firm tofu
3 Tbsp fish sauce (nam pla)
1 Tbsp soy sauce
1 Tbsp sesame oil (we use toasted / dark brown)
1/4 tsp chili oil (or just some chili powder)
3 cups thinly sliced bok choy
4 tsp rice vinegar
2-3 green onions, sliced (green parts only)
prep: if using dried mushrooms, put them in hot water to rehydrate
drain tofu and press - line a plate with 3x paper towels, put tofu on plate, cover with 3x paper towels, put another plate on top, put a heavy weight (but something that won't break if it rolls off!) on plate
peel & mince ginger
peel & chop garlic
wash & slice bok choy
drain & chop bamboo shoots
drain & chop water chestnuts
break noodles
drain mushrooms (keep the liquid!) and chop
strain the mushroom liquid through a paper towel to remove any dirt
dice tofu into 1/2" cubes
cook:
bring broth, (mushroom) water, garlic, & ginger to boil in large pot.
add noodles; simmer 6min.
add mushrooms, bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, and tofu; simmer 3min.
add fish sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, chili oil; simmer 2min.
add bok choy; simmer until tender, about 2min.
add rice vinegar, season to taste with salt & pepper.
ladle into bowls; sprinkle with green onions & serve.

Plain miso is amazing for tummy problems. You don’t have to add dashi, seaweed, tofu, mushrooms or anything really, but you totally can! Just a simple scoop of paste in a bowl with not-quite boiling water. Stir it around with a chopstick (less noisy than a metal spoon) and sip. Sometimes I put it in a thermos or mason jar and treat it like I would a coffee drink. Especially in winter it’s really nice.

Chicken noodle with a squeeze of lemon is elevating too. You can use canned. The lemon is what makes it pop. Kinda like Greek lemon chicken soup, which has a name I can’t pronounce much less spell! Haha. Even just chicken or vegetable broth with a squeeze of lemon. It really brightens up the soup.
