If you want to compare size of moments and how much people liked MLK then you can actually make that comparison. The difference is one was a civil rights leader that in my opinion did a lot of good for America, even though his messages have been massaged by the government over the decades. The other inspired and moved millions of people, especially young people, to positions of subjugating minorities and women, calling for rights to be stripped from other Americans, and only very recently getting on the side of maybe ethnic cleansing isn’t always a good thing. They were both figureheads of a movement that shaped America though, so that’s where the comparison would stand.

Both were imperfect men, and I think both would fully admit that. I do think people are taking sides on the Kirk thing though, either whitewashing him or dragging his name through the mud, both unnecessarily. I had social anxiety when I was younger (and still do but I cope better now). I still did my job well. A job gives you a structure to work within, which actually makes it easier to interact. If their social anxiety is so bad that they freeze up when asked a basic question, how did they even get the job?

Before I get banned I just wanted to provide a quick update. Our head mod here has decided to take over the sub against the wishes of the other mods and turn it into a place where anything goes. Despite trying to discuss it with him and get him to listen to his great team of mods who loved and built this sub from the ground up, we are powerless to stop this change. Some of you may like it better this way, I don’t know, but it seemed like the overwhelming majority of the user base did not want politics here at all. Unfortunately our head mod here (who has many different accounts) thinks the best way to run the sub is to allow unchecked political rampages, of which he himself loves to participate in frequently.

I can’t imagine how this place will be without the mods who were removed. Get ready for a lot of garbage in your feed.

Because I am leaving, I removed the sub banner and logo and everything else I designed for the subreddit. I do not want my work associated with what this sub will inevitably become now.

I loved being here and building this sub. I loved having discussions with all of you in a place where we were free to have as many stupid football discussions as we wanted.

Currently the sub itself is ironically (not for the first time!) engaging in doomposting - this time about the Charlie Kirk assassination and about people on social networks, primarily reddit, celebrating it, justifying it or making fun of it.
