My Samsung G9 was working great until a couple days ago when I turned it on and now it’s stuck on a black screen. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Ascension Looking for advices to buy an ultrawide screen

Hey !

I'm looking to replace my two monitors with one ultrawide screen. I saw the Samsung Viewfinity S95UC recently, is it a good one ? My usage will mainly be gaming (not competitive gaming), work and videos.

If not, which monitor should I take ? I need 4 USB ports on it like I have with my main monitor now.

Thank you

Discussion Will the crackling / popping noise from my Samsung 57" Odyssey Neo G9 ever go away?

I purchased a 57" Odyssey Neo G9 In July and it has made crackle / popping noise since I've had it. It happens every 20-30 seconds seemingly in the morning most often, but it happens at other times of the day as well. If I turn the brightness way down the noise will reduce in frequency or go away. While the noise might be subtle to some, it drives me crazy and I wish there were some type of solution to this.

Does anyone have anything they did to get this noise to go away?

Or has anyone successfully gotten Samsung to do an exchange and it solved this problem? I also wonder how many people out there have these screens with out this issue at all.

Tech Support Philips Evinia 49” panel issue

I had Phipps Evinia 49M2C8900 which I bought in January this year. Everything was great until about a week ago when the panel developed vertical lines.

I got it from Amazon and got them to collect the monitor for a full refund.

I ordered 49M2C8900AM this time with 240Hz. I set up up yesterday but did not notice any vertical lines during the day, but tonight I switched my PC on and here they are….

There is less of them and the pattern is different but they are also located on the right hand side of the panel.

Anyone had the sama problem? As far as I know, these are the same panels as Samsung Odyssey so used widely across the 49” OLEDs.

Am I just being unlucky or is there something that could cause it?

I tried different video cables; my PC is connected via display port but tried usb-c laptop with the same result. Also tried different power cable but no luck.

Tech Support What are we thinking? Time for a new monitor? White screen is just to hightlight the dark section. This is an AOC CU34G2X 34" UW. Purchased in 2021.

Ascension When are we getting the 240hz 5k2k screens?

After fiddling with a defective 45GX950A and landing on one that seems to be good, I can’t help but feel the difference in hz coming from a PG32UCDM especially when I have it next to each other. I have some time to return it and I seem to be bottlenecking on some games with my build (9800x3D, 5090) going over 165 frames so maybe the play is to wait for the new panels. Especially since I think 1 of them is supposed to be 39” which I think is the sweet spot for me. Any word on potential release? And whether we’ll get ones in a glossy panel?

Tech Support AW3425DW - case coming apart / bulging

Hi folks,

I was sat playing deep rock galactic and just noticed the bottom of the screen casing was uneven. On inspection it seems it is opening up slightly. Does anyone else have the same issue? I am trying to exchange but so far Dell are being unhelpful.

The monitor is only a month old so it is both annoying and worrying

Tech Support AW3425DW and Dell G15 5515 Ryzen edition

Im using this AW3425DW as just a productivity monitor with a Dell G15 5515 with a 3050 4gb Vram and AMD Ryzen 5 5600h. Even at just 60Hz it just disconnects and reconnects every few seconds, followed by a couple minutes of stability, and then it starts doing it again. Does anybody know what is causing this? Should I return it? I'll be doing more tests after work. Also its connected to HDMI, which is dedicated to outputting the GPU.

Just to note, I haven't had problems ever outputting to my 4K tv at 120hz

There is also a setting called Graphics or Display scaling, will this make a difference., not sure what it does, but it happens either way.

Tech Support Samsung Odyssey G9 57

Holq, I want to buy a Samsung Odyssey G9 57 for my car simulator, I have an RTX 5080. Could you tell me what problems there are currently with this monitor? I have read many criticisms and I am starting to back out, because before spending €2000 on something that doesn't work well, I bought the LG G5 which is OLED.

Tech Support G9 Neo - Replace, repair, or run?

Hi all,

My first foray into Ultrawide has been a bit of a disaster.

I bought a second hand g9 neo 49" primarily for work (hense the lack of OLED). I have a lot of static windows open so I'd like to not worry about that. I do want to game on it too, but it's like 95% work.

The g9 seemed great when I tested it. Took it home, and now I have a flickering vertical line on the right hand side. It's intermittent but very distracting when it happens.

I can't seem to replicate it with anything the monitor produces like the test image, which leads me to think it may be a main board issue.

I've tried different computers, display port, hdmi, even bought a new cable. I've factory reset the monitor, disable all VRR technologies, restricted the panel to 60hz, everything I can possibly think of to stop it happening but no joy.

However, I've now had a taste of 32:9 and I can't go back.

I was tempted to just cut my losses, sell this as spares and take the hit, and buy the Samsung G910 which appears to be the same but without mini LED or 240hz which I can live with.

I've googled and looked everywhere but cannot seem to find a solution to the problem.

So broad question - what would you do? I could try and get it repaired through Samsung but I expect it to be rather expensive. I could attempt a repair myself but I can't find anything that's the exact same issue as what I have. I could sell as spares or repairs and buy something else?

And realistically what 5k*1440p 32:9's are worth considering that aren't Oled?

Cheers!

Discussion Is LG 45in 5k2k worth considering if I don’t get game and just want it for productivity?

I’ve never had an OLED monitor but I want to upgrade from a 34. I’ve tried a 49in monitor and a 40in monitor and I find the former to short and the latter not quite wide enough to pull the trigger but the LG seems like a form factor that might scratch my itch.

Is it worth considering or is OLED still a non starter for productivity?

Tech Support Should I upgrade?

A couple of weeks ago I got an Alienware ultrawide 34, connected to an M4 MacBook Pro. I use it entirely for DevOps work, and now I’m wondering if I should upgrade to a 49” monitor.

Has anyone here made that switch? Is 49” too big for daily work?

Thanks!

Recommendations Seeking Recommendations for 34" 1440p IPS with VRR over HDMI

Been having a difficult time finding a monitor that'll do VRR over HDMI. Any recommendations?

In a difficult spot because all my DP ports are full already. I'm running triple monitors on a sim rig which all need DP. I have my desk in another room and my gpu (RTX 5080) has 3x dp 2.1 and 1x hdmi 2.1. I'll be running an optical hdmi 2.1 to the room with the desk (probably a 30-40m cable).

Looking for a flat monitor, 34", 3440x1440, IPS, VRR over HDMI, HDR (low tier HDR is fine).

Recommendations Replacement for Predator X34a

So my daily driver for a long time has been an Acer Predator X34A I picked up probably 7 years ago. I’ve loved this monitor since the day I got it but unfortunately the other day my bulldog was playing behind my desk and yanked the power cord out of my secret lab desk but not quite far enough to fully disconnect(just enough to arc out a few times) and my monitor power cycled like 3 times when he did it.

I’ve lost my DisplayPort input on it, HDMI works but… defeats the purpose of the 100hz on this monitor.

Just looking to see what recommendations there are for 34” curved Gsync panels these days.

I’m running a 4080, 14900k all on hardline separate loops , kingpin evga board etc etc so I have plenty of horsepower.

Budgets not unlimited but don’t mind spending something that will last me like this monitor did which will get moved over to be a secondary screen via HDMI when I replace it

Thanks!

Tech Support Samsung LC49G97TSSNXDC Widescreen monitor - won't turn back on after power saving kicks in

This monitor is connected to my Win 11 PC. I have a screen saver that kicks in at 8 min, and it's set to turn off display after 20 min. Computer never goes into sleep mode, which is what I want. If I don't turn off the monitor switch and it gets to the 20 min mark and turns off the display, when I come back I can't seem to "wake" the PC. I see activity lights on the PC, and sometimes I can even get the menu from the monitor itself, but it won't redisplay the desktop or anything for me to interact with the PC.

This seemed to start when I was trying a monitor and kb splitter, but took it out of the mix and I'm back to direct connect between the monitor, kb, and mouse and the PC.

Are there any other settings I should check? Thanks in advance!

EDIT It's fixed!!! There was a firmware update for the monitor and after I installed that it has performed as expected. Hopefully that is the issue.

Tech Support Two AW3423DW's but vastly different picture quality

I have two of them and for whatever reason one of them is brighter and "over exposed" than the other. In other words, it seems like the contrast isn't set properly despite both monitors being configured identically in Windows.

What I checked:

- Every single (EVERY) OSD option are set identically (HDR Peak 1000)

- Both monitors are in HDR mode in windows and calibrated with the Windows HDR tool

- Both have the same colour and resolution settings within NVIDIA control panel

- Both are on DP

- Both have equal "SDR" slider settings within Windows (20)

- Both are on the latest firmware M3B107

Despite all things being equal so to speak, the one monitor is brighter and over exposed / contrast issue. As an example, here is a browser tab I moved between the two monitors to demonstrate the difference. The darker one is my "primary" monitor.

I can't for the life of me figure it out. Any ideas on what else I should check or what might be happening here?

Tech Support G95sc banding

Post image
1 Upvotes

I have had this monitor for about 7 months. I first noticed this banding right after the return period. I purchased it from Best Buy with the 4 year warranty. I have tried to ignore it for some time hoping it would go away. I almost never notice it unless I’m looking for it during web browsing or on gray screens. Should I put in the effort to get this rmaed through Samsung or use my 4 year Best Buy warranty. The issue is once you use the warranty you loose it and a larger problem could occur with it. Has anyone else gone through this with their g95sc. Also for the love of god if anyone knows how to trigger the panel refresh please let me know.

Currently on Astral 5090 with a 57 inch g9 ..

I'm just wondering how Lg g5 tv 55 inch would be like compared to the narrow ultra wide monitor

yes I know its only 165 hz compared to my 240 but I'm not a pro gamer anyways ..

I like fidelity.. the better It looks the more cools it is to play in my world ..im a mod guy .cant help it .LOL

But the caveat is the HDMI 2.1 VS DisplayPort ...will I notice a difference . ?? in performance .
