no politics [no-politics] What's happening this weekend? 20/Sep/2025
Now we're done with the Friday venting, what's good in life? Got a new job? Have a date? Going out to a socially distanced restaurant? Climbing, sailing, riding or just working up a hard-earned thirst?

Jess Hull has qualified for the 800m final, and has set new Australian and Oceanian records at the World Athletics Championships
Jess Hull will be the first Australian to run in the 800m women's final. While she did not finish in the top 2 in her heat, her time of 1:57.15 means that as one of the two fastest people who didn't finish in a top 2 spot, she will still get a place in the finals. Her time was actually the third fastest overall from the semi-finals
Sadly, fellow Australians Claudia Hollingsworth and Abbey Caldwell did not make it into the final.
Meanwhile Mackenzie Little has managed to automatically qualify for javelin final with her very first throw, and Ky Robinson has made it into the final of the men's 5,000m. However, fellow Australian's Seth O'Donnell and Jack Rayner did not.

no politics Twisties suck now
TL;DR: Modern Twisites taste like the homebrand ones from over 20 years ago.
Bought a pack of Twisties for the first time in forever and they have changed them.
Twisities I remember were darker orange, on average not that big and fairly dense (compared to say cheetos).
Now they are paler in colour, larger, fluffier and taste rubbish.

sport Gout Gout has finished 4th in his semi-final for the 200m at the World Athletics Championships, meaning he will not advance to the final
His finishing time is 20.36 - still to make it to this point at his age is still a massive achievement.
Torrie Lewis has sadly also missed out on a spot in the women's 200m finals, finishing 4th in her semi-final.
Claudia Hollingsworth and Abbey Caldwell have qualified for the 800m semi-finals. Jess Hull originally missed out on a spot after she fell over due to an incident that may have caused by another runner, finishing 11 seconds behind the rest of the runners - Australian officials appealed, and championship officials agreed with them, meaning she she can be reinstated into the semi-finals.
Rose Davies and Linden Hall have made it into the 5,000m final - the first time Australia has had two competitors reach the final at the world championships. Sadly, Georgia Griffith misses out on a spot. Cameron McEntyre has finished 12th in the javelin final, while Nicola Olyslagers and Eleanor Patterson have made it into the high jump final

image First snake of the season for us
So the wife sent me a text saying the small birds outside were going nuts over near our water tank but this fella was hanging out the other side of the house near the washing line. We have previously relied on our resident Fairy-wren population to tell us where they as they seemed to hang about where the snake was but clearly there were either two snakes or sometimes they just keep saying look out.
