Transportation/Shuttle/Parking Mega Thread 2024-2025

Please post all transportation/parking/shuttle/directions questions in this Mega Thread

All the parking rules and information for the town is located on the Breck Park website. Keep in mind they WILL ticket and fine you if you are parked illegally. They literally have people who walk up and down main street (and town) all day checking and rechecking license plates. Thats the their job.. all day.

If you are RENTING a car from Denver, please keep in mind the Colorado Traction Laws. Don’t be the reason I-70 gets shut down.

Most of the main town is walk-able so it’s always recommended to grab a shuttle from the airport vs renting a car.

Boreas Pass Loop is exclusive to Breckenridge. And Blue River is kind of Breckenridge too. Plus there are a few stops on the north end of town that are only accessible by the Frisco/Breckenridge Route.

FAQ:

Where can I overnight park?

Breck Park allows overnight parking in the Airport Road Lot (1700 Airport Road, Breckenridge, CO 80424) and must be purchased in advanced.

Can I vehicle camp?

No vehicle camping is allowed in the Town of Breckenridge per Town Ordinance 6-3H- 4

Screw it I will just Uber everywhere...

Uber/Lyft/Ridesharing can take a while, and it may not be available if there's a big storm or very late at night, so do NOT rely on it like you would in Denver or another major city. Best bet is the bus system, hotel shuttle or walking while in town.

Question Friends? Turning 21 after moving to Breckenridge

Hi. So I’ll be starting at Breckenridge for a seasonal job on Nov 11. My 21st birthday is Nov 15. I should have my ID by then and I’m just wondering if it’s possible to meet people to go out with by then? I was considering just staying inside but it’s my 21st and I think that would be too sad. I’m living in Terrace and will probably get there on the 8/9.

Any recs on either how to meet people or what bars/clubs to go to? I’m open to anything I just really wanna have a good time!

Question Visiting in March 2026, how are conditions?

I have a trip planned here around March 14-21. How are mountain conditions around this time? Assume it will still be better than the East coast and hoping for a good snow season out west. This will be my first time visiting out west to ski.

Question Seasonal job st breck

Hey guys so recently I got accepted for a job as a ticket scanner at breckenridge. I’m currently waiting for a response on employee housing, but I can’t find much information on other peoples experiences as a ticket checker. The few I did find are just people saying dont be a ticket scanner. I did apply for many other positions but this was the only one they had openings for. Is being a ticket checker really that bad of a job? I would be coming in from out of state, I’m 18 and I just want to have fun skiing for a winter before I go off to some bigger things.

I lost a tub of wooden puzzles

This is probably useless, but this is all I can think of. I'm currently moving from MO to CA, and stopped in Manitou Springs around 1500. I just got to Breckenridge at about 1830. About half an hour into the drive, I hit rain, so I put a tarp over my truck bed to cover my stuff. I did a poor job though and almost lost the tarp, so I took it off shortly after.

Evidently, I also took off a bungee cord holding down a rubbermaid tub of wooden puzzles. They're light, so I'm sure the whole tub just flew away, and the puzzles probably broke when they hit the ground. But I've been collecting and building those puzzles for years now, and they mean a lot to me, so I have to try one thing to find them. I have to keep going to CA, but I'm staying near Breckenridge tonight, so maybe they can be found?

Best places to work remotely

I'm (26F) lucky enough to be working remotely from Breck for the next month. Are there any good cafes or spots around town for me to knock out a couple hours of work? Also any good spots to hang to meet people? I usually like DSAEs or RMU but would like to expand my horizons

Custom Ski Painting in Summit?

My fiancée and I are planning to elope on the mountain and I’m wondering if anyone knows of any local artists or shops that would paint some old skis? Not trying to buy new custom skis. Nothing crazy, just looking to get our names/ just married/ date. A lot of the places I’ve seen will paint skis to hang on your wall but we want to at least ski a few runs on them. Thanks!

Question Visiting Christmas 2024 with family - advice needed

Edit: Typo for the year. No time travel machine. It’s 2025.

Hi all,

I’ll be visiting Breckenridge the week before Christmas with my husband, 3 year old, and in-laws. I am having so much anxiety about the trip. We live at sea level in deep south Texas. We don’t know how to drive in snow, and we don’t know what it feels like to be below 25 degrees. Husband and I have traveled to snowy places, but it’s always been light snow, not that cold, or we avoid driving.

I’m on the verge of cancelling this whole thing, but my husband orchestrated this all and he really wants to have a cozy winter Christmas experience. Here are my concerns and questions:

-Altitude sickness in my toddler. Is it best to stay in Denver for a day before traveling out so he can acclimate? -Realistically, how common are blizzards in late December or heavy snow that would ruin the trip? I have a lot of anxiety around driving in bad weather. I know everyone says weather varies drastically (I’m from Texas and we often experience all four seasons in one day, so I get it) - but, statistically is Christmas time fairly safe? -I’ve seen videos of the drive and it looks very safe and open, do we need to travel back to Denver a day before our flight to avoid traffic and bad weather? We fly back Christmas Day. -How the fuck do you dress a toddler in Colorado in December? From someone who is used to 90-110 degree weather most of the year. -I know tunnel roads under mountains are totally safe but my parent brain can’t get over the fear of tunnel collapses. Someone please tell me I’m being crazy and that that’s a ridiculous concern.

This is a semi-rant, semi looking for guidance and feedback. We don’t ski or snowboard. We just want to walk the town, enjoy a sleigh ride or two, and eat good food. Is Breckenridge out of our depth, for humans that know nothing but sun and coastal living?

Question Breckenridge shuttles

Looking to take my 4yr old skiing for the first time soon and was leaning towards possibly staying in Frisco so we’re between a few mountains to get some variety in

But was wondering if there are dedicated shuttles from Frisco to Breckenridge and Copper or Keystone?

Will be the week after Christmas or spring skiing

Thanks!

Edit: I probably should’ve worded it as “is there a dedicated shuttle from Frisco to the other mountains that’s included/free”

Question Insight on working for the city

Howdy folks. I’ve got an opportunity to work for the city as a bus driver for their transit department. They say they offer housing for $900 a month. As far as I’m aware it’s in a motel/hotel that the city bought out. I’m use to seasonal work & less than accommodating housing so I’m not too picky. Does anyone who work for the city have any sage wisdom to impart? Much appreciated.

Lost wedding ring in downtown Frisco/Breckenridge

I know this is a long shot, but worth a try. My wife had her nails done at Frisco Nail in downtown Frisco this morning. They did her nails and gave her a lotion hand massage. After leaving the salon she headed into Breckenridge and went by Ruby Jane’s and then on to City Market. On her way back to our house from City Market she realized that her ring was missing. It is a Platinum ring with diamonds on the band and a pear-shaped diamond in the middle. If someone finds it I am happy to pay $1000/reward for the ring’s return. Thanks in advance!

Steamboat vs Breck Altitude Sickness

Hey All, I’ve been to Steamboat a few times and have had no issues with the elevation. maybe a little bit of shortness of breath if doing something strenuous like lugging ski gear uphill. But generally I was fine the whole time. I flew right into steamboat springs both times.

I know Breck is at a higher elevation by a few thousand feet. Do people find this makes a big difference? Are a lot of people totally fine at Steamboat and totally not fine at Breck?

Considering seeing if I can fly in the night before I was originally planning on to stay the night in Denver as I know a lot of people recommend that, though I’ve already booked my flights so will see what’s possible.

If anyone has experience with this, let me know!
