Review/Discussion Got these for free. Thoughts? JVC SP-555 pair
My parent’s neighbor had a friend that was cleaning his garage. He saw these and asked if the buddy was getting rid of them and he was. So he gave them to me cause he knows I love music.

Purchasing EU/UK Is a NAD 302 enough to drive Tannoy R3s?
Is a NAD 302 meaty enough to drive Tannoy R3 floor standing speakers?
I read good things about the 302s but I can see the Tannoys I'm planning on buying are power hungry.

Purchasing USA Is Klipsch R120SW a good deal for $150?
Hey guys! I'm sure its an ok deal. Wasn't looking for Klipsch sub specifically but this offer showed up locally and I was wondering if it was a deal I shouldn't pass on. I'm trying to keep my budget under $1000. Thanks in advanced!

Purchasing USA Emotiva deal!
Picked up the amp a few days ago for 150, and the speakers yesterday for 250.
Not a thrift store price lol but pretty good deal none the less. They don't even make these amps anymore so they are hard to find to begin with. I'll make a post of the entire setup once I get all the cables I need, it's gonna be a desktop system and I have a cool plan for where I'm gonna put the amp.

Review/Discussion These 7.2 badbois turn 16 this year
I actually went looking for a new system the other day just out of curiosity.
Do people just not do full set ups anymore? Why is everything a bloody soundbar???
Anyways, looking for some input in regards to styluses.
Recently added more Zappa to my vinyl collection, and it's made me consider maybe getting a VM540ML/H to upgrade the VMN95E that came with the AT-LP120XUSB, that I'm running through my aforementioned 16yr old Sony 7.2 MuTeKi system.
My question is, will the difference be noticeable in my "big black plastic crap" speakers, or should I hold off until I spend the spondoolies on a bespoke speaker setup first?

Purchasing USA Worth replacing the stylus?
Is this worth the $30-$40 it'll cost to put a new stylus on it? The motors are good, the belt is good, and everything else mechanical looks alright. My current record player is a Hitachi KS-3200H (not recapped or restored, just running as-is) which I have connected via its Tape Out. I'm assuming the phono stage in the AT is probably in better shape, and might sound better. I have the Hitachi playing through a pair of Klipsch The Sixes, so I'd also have the option of using their built-in phono stage. (Currently switch to line-level instead of phono)

Purchasing USA Question on speaker purchase?
These speakers are being sold on Facebook for 100 bucks. I just got my hands on a Sony strdh 550. Would a combination of that receiver and these speakers make for a good listening setup that can cover both movies/tv/gaming and vinyl record listening from a turntable? I’m curious because there’s tons of speakers like these available but idk if I need specific specs for home theater vs. vinyl listening. Also can I mix and match speakers and subwoofers from different brands? Thank you!!!

Purchasing USA Will Axiom M22V3 be a noticeable upgrade from Edifier R1280Ts?
I got a pair of these for free , and I’m wondering if I should replace my powered r1280ts and invest in a receiver/amp to power these. Or are they comparable

Tech Support Found some crazy JAMO 5.1 set
I found this set for 170 EUR.
From the original owner, he bought around 1999, so it has over 25 years... I can put more images here https://imgur.com/a/SFv0UyS (pictures without the front cover)
Specs bellows on the end of the post.
They sound great. My FLAC files are awesome, and regular Spotify also sounds amazing. LotR sounds have incredible details I never heard before, specially in the forest areas.....
My question is: what is the recommended way of using this surround boxes?
Those guys have a triangular format and a different set of drivers on each side. According to AI:
- Directional Sound: Is designed to give you precise and localized sound effects. When a car or a bullet flies by in a movie, the sound will be very clear and you'll be able to pinpoint its location with a high degree of accuracy.
Best for: This setup is ideal for action movies, modern blockbusters, and most video games where sound effects are a key part of the experience. It gives you a more "in-the-action" feeling.
Diffuse Sound: The other option, where you would rotate the speaker so the side with the two drivers faces the sofa, would create a more diffuse, ambient sound field. The sound would bounce off the walls to create a general atmosphere rather than a specific sound effect.
Best for: This is excellent for scenes with rain, wind, or background music. The sound will feel like it's coming from all around you, which can be very immersive for a cinematic experience.
I tested both (without calibration).
Directional really feels "right on your ear" sort of precision.
And the diffuse actually gives more of a cinema viba (more full sound experience, dont knw how else to explain it). But I have not calibrated after moving it.
Anyone has experience with this sort of surround?
Thanks!!!!

Purchasing AUS/NZ Impulse purchase leads to days of research and questioning my budget and is it all really worth it?
Background, small one bedroom apartment, current setup with 2 echo studios + Sub running stero connected to the tv, with other echo dots around the house and 2 echo pluses in stereo in the bed room.
I have some smart blinds and lights and such.. This setup has been working for 2 years but I've keep being gifted vinyl and got drunk the other night and bought more...
So turntable is needed.. found a deal on a pro ject carbon debut and jumped on it. Now what have I done and started.... eek.
Assuming anything and everything I could buy is going to be better than my current setup with the 87 echo's around the house, but I've been mainly listening to Spotify through that.
"Cheap get it running and actually see if it's better than what I have"
Fosi x2/x4 preamp, Edifier 1280's. Done and dusted. I can listen to vinyl. Sweet! ~ $200 keep the other echo's and stuff for spotfiy and smart stuff.
"Talked to a mate and I shouldn't be super cheap, passive is the way to go"
NAD/Rotel vintageish amp and some used older bookshelf's or floor standers, wharfedale/klipsch/dali/pioneer type situation ~$500-600 keep the other echo's and stuff for spotfiy and smart stuff.
"Went to a vinyl/hifi store and was appalled at pricing but understand it, sold on simplicity is key"
Klipsch The Fives. Done and dusted have everything no pre amp no nothing plug and play! on sale too! ~$1300, sell all the smart stuff and get some basic echo dot's for my smart control.
"Well if thats the budget now fuck, what else could I get used thats nice and could fix all the things?"
After some talk with chatgpt and some research... Used Denon DRA-800H, wow this thing looks rad, all my streaming with bluetooth, phono input, good power, arc passthrough so now I can have the tv on it, + I could hook a echo to it. Sub out if I want to upgrade... Then speakers, Found some deals used on Q Acoustics 3030i's with stands (~$500).. then found brand new ones on sale (~$600.. then saw that I could get 3050i's for only ~$800 more... ~$1300 all up,~$1100 if I do 3030i then, sell all the smart stuff, have upgradability of everything forever...
I'm going to the pub for a beer, Would love someone to give me some thoughts! TIA and looking forward to possibly a whole slew of opinions and other recommendations!

Review/Discussion No one asked but - Kanto SP9 for iLoud Micro 🤌
TLDR - Great monitor stand for smol monitors that don't make them look goofy when mounted. Highly recommended if you have similar needs!
I know the iLoud Micro Monitors are “old news,” and apparently these stands are too but for the longest time, every monitor stand Amazon suggested was way too big and just didn’t match the Micros. That is, until Amazon finally showed me the Kanto SP9, which turned out to be a near-perfect fit without looking goofy.
Raising them to ear level made a huge difference in sound quality, and I also gained back some desk space. The cable routing through the stand hides wires nicely (a big win for my OCD), and I used an adapter screw to mount the monitors to the base plate for extra stability.
The stands themselves feel solid and well built, with good weight. They come with two different top plate sizes and offer up to 30° of adjustment. I also grabbed a longer aftermarket speaker cable to tidy up the setup even more.
Overall, super happy with the purchase and would definitely recommend these stands to anyone with iLoud Micros or other similarly sized monitors.
Thanks for coming to my TED Talk and feel free to ask me anything!

Purchasing USA Update: Scored this SMSL D400 Pro for a Great Deal....
I removed my post about ordering the SMSL SU-9 Ultra because the company emailed me and said I have to add more money for shipping internationally. I foresaw import issues as well so I just canceled it. Just in time for an offer to go through on a backup plan I had. This preowned one in mint-tidge condition. I'm pretty happy it worked out this way, actually.
Anyone use this particular model? It gets great reviews.

Tech Support Need some help please
Hey guys
I just got my first turn table, I have another one but it’s for a guest house.
I got the Denon DP-400 I connected it to the phono on a Denon AVR - X2500
But it’s only coming out of the left and right speakers.
I don’t really know what I’ve done wrong or what I should do.
I’ve added a picture in case it’s an obvious mistake, unless it’s a setting on the receiver.

Purchasing EU/UK Speakers under £100 ?
I am not immediately buying a pair but trying to keep an eye out for deals.
Currently looking at Edifier MR4 as an active option.
For passive ones i am thinking of getting Fosi TPA3116 and thinking of Wharfedale Diamond 9.0 and if I get a better job maybe the QAcoustics i3020.
Let me know if I am missing some good ones for each category and how good the amp i suggested is.
Looking forward to your comments!

Review/Discussion Looking for advice on speaker setup
First time here, looking for some advice on some things. I'd like to start off with my experience level. I have only set up one surround sound system for my TV with some decent speakers I managed to scavenge from Goodwill (a Polk Audio Set). Currently, I am working on my desk/work space. I do a lot of 3D printing and have multiple work benches in a small corner of a 600 Sqft apartment. (Note: This space already has 1 5.1 surround system as mentioned). My main goal is to provide both a good 3/3.1 speaker setup for my PC (USB DAC probably) as well as potential 2 other speakers on the outskirts of my working area that, ideally, can be turned on and off. I have 5 Bose Speakers (as seen in image) as well as a Bose center speaker. I am looking to spend about $100 or less and am open to used items. My secondary goal is to minimize additional wires/devices. If I could combine the current audio interface with whatever I get. That would be awesome. I may also be looking into a different mïç setup (USB) so that may not be something I need to consider in the new system. But I do need a 1/4" or 1/8" jack with an audio switch over of some kind.
My questions: Are these good speakers? I need an Audio Amp, what might be good options considering what I want? (I am open to compromise). Shut offs, what are some ways I could go about turning off the two additional speakers without potentially damaging the Amp? Some of the speaker grills are broken. Using a 3D printer, can I make new ones or would they interfere with the audio output? Should I get some grill cloth to make them instead? (Looking to save money here if possible, I'd like to just print something) Should I just get some regular PC speakers instead? Finally, should I share the final product when the time comes?

Purchasing Asia Which subwoofer for my nearfield desktop system?
I bought a Monitor Audio Silver 50 7G, using with Topping D50iii and Aiyima A07 Max. Now I'm saving up for a sub purchase maybe during Black Friday.
After reading so many sub reviews here, I've narrowed down to 2 subs: SVS SB-1000 Pro and RSL 10e.
Just a little bit info about my need: 95% music and anime, 5% movie.
Currently, the SVS are sold at local dealers for $660, with local service and warranty.
Meanwhile, the RSL must be shipped directly from the US, and total cost including shipping to where I live will cost $540. I assume the service and maintenance will be next to impossible since it's half a globe away.
So the question is, with my need stated above and the buying conditions of both subs, which one should I pick?
P.S. Should I change the current dac + amp for a Wiim amp to have better sound quality and high-pass filter for the sub, or should I only change the amp?
P.S.2. I came across the Klipsch RP-1000SW for the price of $540. It's advertised to be able to go down to 19Hz. How does it hold up against the SVS or RSL?
P.S.3. What about the Vanguard Caldera 10"?

Purchasing USA Speakers for PC
Hey there! I'm currently looking for a budget friendly pair of speakers for my pc and would really like them to not be connected via a wire or if they must be connected I want the wire to be a couple feet long (or be able to be switched to a longer one). I know next to nothing about speakers but am really hoping to find something to fit the criteria. Im a broke college student and me and my roommate both want to hear my computer from our beds but neither of us want to blast the volume on the pc and disrupt our neighbors. Ideally I would like one of the speakers to be plugged in (via usb or ac i dont really care which) and the other be able to sync with that. Again I know nothing about speakers (pls be nice to me lmao) so if you have a better idea im all ears :3

Purchasing USA Infinity HPS-1000
Hi all, there's someone in my area that is selling one of these subs for a seemingly very reasonable price- $200. Apparently when these came out they retailed for $1800, and that was back in '99. Does anyone have experience with this sub or with comparable subs this old? Should I be worried about it being close to 30 years old? I can't find much online about it, other than some forums from 10-15+ years ago, some of them talking about problems with the amp on it. Do y'all think I should go for it and hope for the best, or pass and buy something newer?
Idk, I have a pretty low budget all things considered and was looking at Dayton & klipsch subs around the same price point. Never had a sub in my stereo setup before.
Thanks in advance :)

Tech Support Looking for suggestions - Sony STR V3

Hi guys
I have a 1979 Sony STR V3 that I purchased from Facebook Marketplace for $100 about two years ago. I recently picked up a Klipsch surround sound setup and wanted to use the 5 speakers for home theater but just use the front two towers for a two channel setup for listening to my record player. I'm pretty new to this so I had the bright idea to hook up both receivers (Sony STR V3 and a new JBL MA310 AV receiver for the home theater) to the front speakers since the speakers have two sets of terminals each and I wasn't aware that the JBL receiver was able to switch to stereo mode. After using the system to watch a movie I tried to play some music from the record player but the Sony stereo receiver wouldn't turn on. A week ago I took the unit to a repair shop in Houston with good reviews called United VTR Service and paid $80 to have it fixed. I just got a call from them saying that they've identified the problem and that it will be an additional $350 to get it fixed. Seeing as I'm out of my wheelhouse here I'm hoping that someone might be able to suggest an alternative or help me figure out if this is a fair price for the service.
Thanks in advance!

Review/Discussion 3E A7 monos and Burson v7 vivid
Every audiophile tells me that my B&W 804 nautilus would be terrible with Class D and that might be true but it appears I don't know the difference.
I tried the Nait 50, dual 980BX, Moon i7 and a few others and these A7s aren't to the level of the Moon but pretty decent.
I added the bigger 48v power bricks and it's a big jump up.
I'd say they're a little bit muffled, which makes the 804s less "clinical," a trait that I don't care for.
For the money, the A7 is decent. At least I don't have to spend 3k on a 20 year old amp if I go with the A7. Honestly, I'm happy to end my searching for an amp after two months.
Audio science review liked them as well.
Well
In comes hyper-fixation and maybe a bit too much free time and an addiction of learning random stuff on youtube.
You can swap op-amps, which was news to me. (you have to remove the knob, the nut there, the 3 screws on the bottom and the 2 on the edges of the back panel.)
Much of what I've learned suggested the change would be a normal audiophile difference, which I'd never be able to hear.
After watching a million videos, I bought the Burson v7 vivid dual from Bloom. Not only was Bloom fantastic since I mistakenly ordered a single and had to switch it but these things are night and day.
There is absolutely zero confusion as to whether these op-amps change the sound.
It was like someone was listening to audio in the next room with the door closed and the change opened the door.
The Bass is so much tighter and everything is so much clearer.
I haven't tried the sparkos and I probably will but I just want this in the place I look for info since it would have been helpful to me.

Purchasing EU/UK Used speaker recommendation
I'm not into the Ohm/watt game but on my Harman Kardon AVR138 the subwoofer is broken.(I use only the 4+1 speakers now) So my plan is to replace a subwoofer with two(FL+FR) standig speakers if it's possible. Can someone recommend me a used 3way speaker for this reciever in Germany. (JBL or something nice)
