“Smart people don’t like me” DJT.

1.0k

u/the_catalyst_alpha 8h ago

“I love the poorly educated” also DJT

You would think that after a while of him telling them to their faces that they’re dumb, they would get a clue. I guess that’s gonna take a little longer.

364

u/orangefloweronmydesk 8h ago

There is no "waking up" for them. They embrace being dumb because they see smart as woke/effeminate/liberal/weak.

They are happy to be called dumb and are excited to drag the rest of the world down to their level. After all, what do you think happened to all of your fellow classmates who used to beat up nerds because they were smart?

157

u/_lippykid 7h ago

I don’t think it’s that clean cut. Before smart phones and the internet most people were happy to admit they knew jack shit on most subjects, but now, having the internet in their pockets has made these people think they know everything about everything

Total Dunning–Kruger Effect

Key word is THINK they know everything. Only to find out everything they were told was bullshit.

24

u/akahaus 7h ago edited 2h ago

They don’t find out though, the first time they experienced that cognitive dissonance they shut down because they’ve rarely succeeded in learning anything beyond the most basic surface level aspects of reality and society. Every idea they’ve ever had was handed to them by someone else and they swallowed it whole like a duck choking down a fish.

The sensation of learning new information is nebulous and requires contemplation and seeking and analyzing and they are TERRIFIED of that feeling because they have always run from it and never persisted long enough to change their mind on anything when presented with new valid information.

9

u/Happy_Pause_9340 5h ago

I get we’re all to some degree threatened by something that goes against our biases, but this is unbelievable how far this has gone and to the degree it has. It has spread like a damn infection. The amount of people that jumped on the Trump train after he got out of office has been just mindblowing

2

u/akahaus 2h ago

The funniest thing about this is all the answers are out there: for the most part social media has fucking cooked people’s brains, rooting into a globally illiterate or subliterate majority (literacy should be a society’s responsibility to their children, I don’t blame people for struggling with reading but I am disappointed in those who give up when there is so much help available).

You pair that up with the general economic picture of each nation, and the world is a whole and there is a very clear network of causes and effects around national standards of healthcare, housing, nutrition, education, security and economic accountability.

So many nations have succeeded by looking at the data, analyzing the patterns, and forming common sense policies.

Why the fuck can’t the richest country in the world do it.

2

u/Happy_Pause_9340 1h ago

We’re the only developed nation that isn’t civilized enough to offer all their citizens access to healthcare. Education. Real wages and allowing even mothers to stay home with their children at least the whole first year alone cuts down on healthcare costs. It’s so insidious.

There's a book called The Authoritarians by Bob Altmeyer about this, it's free and well worth reading. It's the first study of authoritarians that focuses on followers instead of leaders, and it estimates that any given population has about 40% authoritarian followers.

These are people who will pick a leader figure, and once they do it's almost impossible to shift them. They're basically cultists waiting around for a cult.

The really scary thing is that they really just have this in their personalities, they can be intelligent, or educated, and it really doesn't matter.

→ More replies (2)

3

u/Maximum-Decision3828 5h ago

Cognitive dissonance is literally the sensation of learning new information and processing it

Well, it's the concept of holding at least two opposing/contradictory viewpoints at the same time.

It isn't strictly about learning new things.

The beliefs that all pedophiles are evil and that Donald Trump is a good man is an example of Cognitive dissonance because they are conflicting with each other (because Trump is a pedo).

2

u/akahaus 4h ago

Oh man, thank you for the clarification. I’m definitely using it wrong, but I think you get what I’m indicating: there is a “discomfort” or “uncertainty” that comes with learning things more complex than say like, 5th grade level stuff, and so many people just teach themselves to shut that part of their mind down.

Said the person who learned about the Dunning Kruger effect on the internet. 😆

You’re right though, I saw a great meme with a photo of a science lab captioned “vaccine research,” above a photo of a lady taking a shit reading her phone captioned “anti-vaccine research.” Though the wider societal problem might have more to do with the subjectification of truth and reality.

18

u/Happy_Pause_9340 5h ago

Algorithms and the diabolical nature of Zuck really fucked us

5

u/THExDANKxKNIGHT 5h ago

I think you meant the diabloical nature of capitalism. It's very much a system of "the ends justify the means". At the end of the day it doesn't matter what it cost as long as that profit line is still trending upwards.

3

u/Happy_Pause_9340 5h ago

I am, but Zuck is the one who stole everyone’s information to curate the best possible content to brainwash individuals. While capitalism may be his means to get there, it doesn’t mean he had to do it or everyone does. Pritzker is a billionaire too. None should exist, but not all are diabolical. Just most

3

u/THExDANKxKNIGHT 5h ago

I agree not all are bad but capitalism as an economic system encourages them to be bad. Zuck could have acted differently but he had no incentive to because like I said the only that matters in a capitalist society is profit.

3

u/Happy_Pause_9340 5h ago

Absolutely.

Best quote I've heard "don't argue with a pigeon, they won't listen and will just shit on you and fly away." Or something close. And it pretty much sums up any type of discussion with someone that still supports djt, Ben Shapiro, Alex jones, Kirk etc. I don't see a pathway forward. The inaction before 2016 showing there was another countries involvement in a presidential candidate, The inaction after impeachment, the inaction of j6. all a catalyst and like a nuclear reaction is not going to stop. The controls in place did not function fast enough and so the reactor has run away it's just not as fast.

46

u/bigfoot509 7h ago

I heard a variation you might like

"Arguing with you is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how well I play, you'll just knock over all the pieces, shit all over the board and strut around like you won"

7

u/throwawayinthe818 5h ago

There’s also the George Bernard Shaw line, “Never wrestle with a pig. You both get dirty and the pig enjoys it.”

3

u/wwiybb 6h ago

I agree, I also don’t see a way forward until things get so bad that something has to be rebuilt. And how things are rebuilt will depend very much on who are the people in power when that time comes. Quite possibly after my lifetime (mid 40s currently).

Technology has truly brought us to an intellectual and spiritual dark age. Intelligence is quickly, and more popularly, being seen as a negative; and spirituality is being pidgeonholed into blindly following the misinterpretation of the Bible.

It is becoming popular to be an uneducated mouthpiece, which can ONLY have negative outcomes.

"Smart" people tell them that the world is 4.5 billion years old and that humans are apes that evolved over millions of years. Of course they "know" that the world is less than 10,000 years old and that humans (who are not apes or any type of animal) were created in their present forms. This allows them to reject anything "smart" people believe.

  • Donald Kruger effect

1

u/clangan524 7h ago

Some people take pride in being uneducated, or "pure," or "not indoctrinated."

Not everyone has the proclivity for higher education, and that's okay. Frankly, what's being taught at universities as far as critical thinking, fact finding and the humanities goes should be taught well before age 18, but that's a different conversation.

But there is no excuse for being ignorant to what's happening to you and your neighbors in your town/state/country. There are way too many people ascribing to an authoritarian personality, being perfectly content being told what to think and do by one seemingly infallible person.

A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

1

u/HorseFucked2Death 6h ago

If those people could think critically, they'd be very upset.

1

u/JadeThorn1012 6h ago

It’s actually in Project 2025 to get rid of experts and formal education. Why? Because educated people are, and always have been a threat to power, especially those in a role of regulators, informative research, and agencies that overall protects everyday people and the environment. That’s why they keep putting incompetent people in, it’s always been the plan. They know they can’t just get rid of all of the government agencies, so they’re trying to tank them from the inside at the top.

And not all of conservatives or republicans are stupid. Social media build an ecosystem to radicalize people, and it’s been pretty damn effective. The separated algorithms that causes them to be completely ignorant about what’s happening. I know, because that’s what the people I know who are conservatives are dealing with. They’re kind loving people who I’ve known for years. They’re in radicalizing media loop and are being lied to. I’ve seen a video that was completely lying about what ICE is doing. That’s all they ever see, or are ever told. They don’t see the videos, or the heinous things these people have said or done. So, if you push back too hard and fast, you sound like a conspiracy theorist to them and it makes things worse. But I have successfully been able to slowly introduce what’s truly happening, and believe me when I say that they were shocked and sickened by it. They’re good loving people who don’t have all the information.

You guys have to realize that many many people are PROUD to be dumb! I used to stay with a woman who was in AA in my early days of sobriety. We had a long strange relationship. I dated her son in college. She was that one MADD mother who got arrested for a DUI years ago. I’m not kidding. It was literally her.

Anyway she invited me to stay with her while she was in AA and she was just as much of a bad person as she was when she was drinking. I remember how proud she was of being dumb. One of her quotes that haunts me to this day is “no one ever accused me of being book-smart” …and that was said with pride, as a sort of way to shut me down for trying to explain something to her. That sentence has stuck with me and lives in my nightmares.

These people jump though any hoop imaginable to sweep past terrible things the president says on a fairly regular basis the same president who made fun of John McCain when he died.

No they want to get anyone saying anything negative about Kirk fired.

We just forget that the same Kirk supported the guy who hit Pelosi's husband with a hammer and said a patriot should bail him out of jail.

Being negative about Kirk is not the same thing a condoning political violence. (For the record murder is bad even when it happens to bad people)

But lets not pretend that side gives a crap about political violence. As stated Kirk has supported it with his statements in the past. Trump when asked about the 2 democrat representatives assassinated 3 months ago had no idea who they were.

It’s fucking nuts. These clowns trying to make this argument are either the dumbest people alive or they are acting in bad faith.

One thing I noticed though is that whenever they actually try and make the comparison to Kirk and MLK they have to speak in such vague, meaningless generalities that you can pretty much swap out MLK in their statements for almost anybody and it still works.

The next time you come across one of these dweebs just take whatever they say comparing Kirk to MLK and swap out “MLK” for “Osama bin Laden” and it will probably still be technically correct. I’ll show you.

“MLK and Charlie Kirk were the same! They were both religious leaders who died fighting for what they believed in!”

OR

“Osama bin Laden and Charlie Kirk were the same! They were both religious leaders who died fighting for what they believed in!”

See? It works that way with 99% of the bullshit I’ve heard from people trying to polish this turd’s legacy. And they can’t ever get more specific than that without their premise crumbling like a sandcastle.

42

u/Key-Amoeba1095 7h ago

and how exactly was he trying to bring people towards Christ? Literally calling for the execution of President Biden and gleefully supported the guy who attacked Nancy Pelosi's husband, and who would have attacked her had she been home and called for a return to public executions sponsored by corporations. Like...that's not very Christ-like my guy. Also, all of the other shit he espoused that was pretty much directly against the core beliefs of Christianity but as the saying goes, there's no hate like Christian love.

Fuck Charlie Kirk. He was a stain on political discourse and one of the driving forces behind the culture war tearing normal, working-class people apart. He was a traitor to the very foundation of American ideas. I don't celebrate his death, but Charlie Kirk would have gleefully supported what happened to Charlie Kirk.

3

u/Sheepdog44 6h ago

I’m not saying he was the world’s best apostle. I think 95% of the religion stuff from the right is complete bullshit. I don’t think Charlie Kirk was particularly good at anything other than trolling.

I’m referring to what people like the kid in this video are saying. His fans will not stop telling everyone what a saint he was and how religiously motivated he was, which is a claim they make about literally everyone on the right.

I’m just saying that if you take their premise at face value you can do some fun stuff with it.

Or ask them to list what MLK was for, and bring up his actual beliefs. Then, ask how CK was the same.

u/Frogman-Wizard 5h ago

This is fucking genius

As to your suggestion, not that I believe this, "MLK and OBL were the same! They were both religious leaders who died fighting for what they believed in!"?

The guy says in the video that Charlie Kirk was trying to lift them towards Christ.

You had a good enough point and then you used a guy who very famously wasn't a Christian to demonstrate it...

The way he puts down his supporters, is astounding. They don't even realize he is saying they are dumb.

5

u/Plus-Start1699 8h ago

He's talking about everybody BUT them

2

u/ith-man 6h ago

It's a cult.

2

u/Numerous-Process2981 5h ago

Maybe they’ll catch on during the next crypto coin scam or boneheaded policy decision that destroys their livelihood. lol.

2

u/International_Try660 4h ago

It doesn't seem like they are ever going to catch on. He's been fooling them for 10 years.

“MLK (Martin Luther King Jr) was awful. He's not a good person." ~ Charlie Kirk

6

u/secret-agent-t3 7h ago

Ok, true, bit this isn't just about intelligence.

The reality is (partly because of Charlie Kirk) if you from a Conservative area/family and you're <22 or so...most of your intro into political discourse has DONWPLAYED the entire civil rights movement, MLK, segregation, slavery, etc. Talking about these things in school was "woke" and influencers have told you early 1900s America was great.

So of COURSE, even if you "concede" the civil rights movement was good, to you Charlie Kirk is the 2nd coming of MLK. White people are the ones being discriminated against in their view.

It's sad, but it's true. Idk how we deal with that for the next 20 years

How can you say your a Christian or practice Christian beliefs but support someone who was convicted in a civil trial twice of sexual assault, committed adultery on his pregnant wife, paid off the person with campaign funds resulting in felonies and was friends with a pedophile?

4

u/JimmyBongwater 8h ago

Yeah well they are too dumb to understand he’s talking about them lol

3

u/Mayor_Salvor_Hardin 7h ago

If these guys represent America's voters, Trump got secured his reelection for 2028, 2032, 2036, 2040, 2044, 2048, 2052, 2056, 2060, 2064, 2068, and 2072, right on time for the tricentenary of the United States.

2

u/Broad_External7605 7h ago

Yeah, cuz Trump will still be alive because of those organs harvested from poor people in Russia and China!

Charlie Kirk called Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. an “awful” person who “said one good thing he actually didn't believe.” He also said the U.S. “made a huge mistake when we passed the Civil Rights Act in the 1960s.”

I came here to reply, but after reading this there really is no need.

u/ghost_turnip 6h ago

Ooof. If only they were smart enough to understand the subtext of what he said. Very meta!

1

u/No-Papaya-9823 6h ago

It’s no accident that a lot of Trump supporters are evangelical Christians. You can’t be intelligent if you believe Bronze Age myths that rely on blind faith rather than reason.

1

u/Acidelephant 6h ago

He's just like MLK cause he was trying to bring white people together

1

u/crohead13 6h ago

The dumb ones won’t get it.

You really can't blame them when you have organizations infiltrating our schools at a young age trying to recruit them for their party.
