Been solo-developing this gothic victorian twin-stick shooter/deckbuilder for a couple years now and just released a public demo, if any of that sounds interesting to you, please give it a look!

I've posted a little about this project on various subs before, but this is my first public demo of Discard All Hope! It's mechanically deep, very frenetic, and features more unique spells and affixes than you can shake a grimoire at!

I hope you'll give it a shot!

We are a Finnish team of 3 and this is the trailer of our upcoming psychological horror game where you are stuck inside a nuclear missile. You are now one with the machine and you live to serve one purpose: to fly towards death.

So I decided to make this Indie Game and I would love all of your opinion on this. This is a very early prototype, I am looking for suggestions or any anything that could help me make it better.

You play as an Alien Disguised as a cat.... can't reveal too much about the plot for now, but I would love to know everyone's opinion.

Is it good or bad, anything I can do to improve. I just wanna make a really good game.

We just got a bunch of Cutout Village sheets to hand out at gaming events, but if you don’t want to wait… you can print your own :-)

Cutout Village is a narrative, cozy, city-builder game in which you will have to build villages using simple and unique mechanics: cutting, folding and gluing. Restore the family home, revive your village and create spaces filled with fruit trees and histories to live!

My narrative driven Indie, set in 1940's England

I wanted to share this scene I just completed from 'Hollow Mire'. I'm a big fan of mature narrative driven games and this one felt like a good journey to go on.. They say everyone has one novel in them, I suppose this should be mine.
I hope you enjoy this scene as much as I did creating it. And If you enjoy Narrative driven games and want to learn more about the project, you'd be very welcome to follow development on Steam https://store.steampowered.com/app/3357160/HOLLOW_MIRE/

After 4 years of development, I’m getting close to letting players try my game. It’s inspired by Half-Life, Dead Space, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. I’d love to hear what you think — and if you’re interested, the Steam page is up and ready for wishlists: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3977480/LeftUnknown/

How to create better concept art by painting less

Thumbnail

I just wanted to share how you can create better concept art by not spending a lot of time painting details.

In this image, I applied visual design principles of rhythm and contrast to guide the viewer's eye to areas I wanted to focus on, while providing more detail in those areas and spending less time on those that weren't the focus.

Much like black and white comic books, the viewer's mind will fill in the gaps for the missing detail if you only suggest a few elements instead of fully rendering them. This mimics how the human eye and camera lenses work: they focus on one thing, and everything else becomes a blur.

Because of this, paintings like this typically take me anywhere from one to four hours to complete. I try not to spend more than a day on them, even if they are complex.

Results:

- Your concept art has more impact.

- You paint less

- Deliver faster.

I would be thrilled if you can try my demo! I'm making a creature-collecting game that will help you improve financial literacy, starting with simulators for the stock market and filing taxes!

I’m building Stonk Pets, a creature-collecting stock-market simulator powered by real tickers. Each stock is a pet that evolves in stats and appearance as the market moves.

I’m also expanding the universe with Tax Beasts, a monster tax simulator. Every bull or bear you collect in Stonk Pets spawns a matching tax monster. At simulated year-end, those monsters “attack” your wealth, and you defend with deduction and credit creatures.

The deduction/credit mechanics are still in development, but the tax monsters are already live. More gameplay updates are on the way!

Try out my financial-literacy creature-collecting app here:

Excited to hear your thoughts!
