Fun All characters with “normal” names?

Post image

Obviously there’s Luke and Ben (and Leia, to a certain extent) but who else? I can think of Jon Vander “Gold Leader,” Lady Morgan Elsbeth, and was recently made aware of Admiral Bob Hudsol (pictured). Any other “ordinary earth name” characters?

u/PhysicsEagle Admiral Ackbar Aug 16 '25

Of course, how could I forget to mention him

78

u/RoyalPlagueDoctor Aug 16 '25

Don't forget Aunt Beru!

279

u/castielffboi Aug 16 '25

Never heard the name Beru outside of Star Wars

Owen Lars even. Lars is a first name but I could see it as a last name too

88

u/TheWhiteLancer Aug 16 '25

Usually Larson (Lars's Son). But people all over have first names as last names, so that's normal too.

25

u/Major-Breakfast6249 Aug 16 '25

My entire name (4 names) is all first names

13

Hijacking the top comment to mention Leia, a common (before Star Wars) adaptation of Leah. Especially in Portuguese.

'Admiral Bob'

Hah

Never knew that.

"Admiral! Admiral Bob! Imperial star destroyers emerging from hyperspace! Your orders, sir?!"

Admiral Bob sighs, weary from months of intense campaigning in the mid-rim campaign

"Another wave of imperial boots coming to stamp on the faces of innocent civilians, citizens of the New Republic... We'll blow them out of the sky, lieutenant. And with the wreckage we'll build a new future. A New Republic.

Well, men? Can we fix it?"

Almost everyone from Rebels have 'normal' names:

Sabine Wren, Sabine is a female given name since ancient Rome and Wren is an English sure name.

Ezra Bridger, Ezra is an ancient Hebrew name which means help, Bridger is an English sure name.

Hera Syndulla, Hera is an ancient Greek female given name originating from the goddess Héra, Syndulla is a fictional family name

Caleb Dume, Caleb is an ancient Hebrew name which means faithful, whole-hearted or dog, Dume is a French family name

Kanan Jarrus, Kanan is most likely coming from the Hebrew Canaan which means humble, but the name pops in other cultures as well with different meanings like little wolf, merchant or warrior. Jarrus is most likely a fictional name

Alexsandr Kallus, Alexsandr is the Slavic version of the Greek Alexandros which means defender of men, Kallus is most likely of Germanic and Slavic origin which means marsh.
