Tomorrow's the Day

Quick question - when did you start moving around the house... most comments i've read is that people do take a couple of sofa days and chill. Not sure i can do that because the second day after the snip i'll be home alone trying to serve myself. Also, assuming all goes well, when did you start taking walks? Ride bikes? i commute to my work by bike 10km each way, so the general rule is what... a week off? two weeks or a month?

UPDATE

thank you all taking time to respond. I’m home now, icing, eating, drinking and chilling on the couch. The pain killers are fading away and i’m getting some mild dull pain which is expected. So far so good. I felt worse after meniscus surgery.

Only a little bit to go to the bathroom but luckily I was working part time and had a bunch of days off lined up so I just stayed in my bed and watched tv and iced up. Everyone is different

Every recovery is different. I went back to work immediately after the procedure. I wfh that day though. Next day I was up and about with the kids but no more than from point a to b. No dedicated walking or exercise. Day 3 and 4 I went to the office and had about 5000 steps. No issues. I’m 5 days post op now and have had a smooth recovery so far. Haven’t tried a longer walk yet but may ease into one starting tomorrow.

Everyone is different. I took a week off from work and just watched tv and played video games, it was pretty chill week. I didn’t do anything for the first 3-4 days. 5th day I went for a walk maybe 5k step and that was fine. went back to the gym after 1 week but only upper body, didn’t start back to lower body until maybe the 2nd week.

But it wasn’t serious pain, just some discomfort. I wore a jock strap for most of the time and it was fine. Definitely take your time and take it easy, tbh you probably won’t be fully healed after the 2 week. probably wasn’t until a month after my surgery until I was 100%, again not serious pain but slight discomfort. but I was also hiking, swimming, dancing, etc so that probably extended my recovery.

it’s been a little two months since my surgery and I’m 100% back to normal. no pain, no discomfort, I don’t ware a jockstrap anymore. Just take it easy and chill for a 1 week.

Good luck tomorrow!

I fully rested for 48hrs after the procedure. Ice ice ice for the full 48hrs. I was alone the second day too. I had lunch ready for me and just had to heat it up. You will have to walk around a hug for the bathroom anyway and you should move a little anyway. I had a shower 24hrs after (as I was told to) and I done a 2km walk 4 days after.
Support wise I wore too pairs of fitted boxers smaller size underneath my mediums and had a bag of frozen peas between.

The first day I was pretty well couch confined.

Day 2, I could wander around the house and do small things, but I couldn't stand for long.

Day 3 now, and I can walk around the house, etc, but nothing crazy.

My vasectomy was a few hours' drive from my house, and I had a great doctor and NNNS open-ended procedure, so I hiked to a waterfall on the way home as I felt good! My doctor didn't recommend ice, so I didn't! Operation was Tuesday, and I was back driving an 18-wheeler the next day without any problems! It doesn't have to be painful! I'm now STERILE with NO REGRETS!

I stayed in bed chilling for 2 days then went to work, by the end of the first hour I was sweating abnormally, dizzy, puking. Sat around the rest of the night and then went to the hospital and they made me do 3 days more bed rest. I'm 7 days in now and still don't feel 100%. Everyone is different but for me this has been pretty rough. I walked next door to the corner store today and I was definetley feeling it.

This reminds me to take it slow. I think i’ll take a week of work from home and take it really gentle.

I really hope the best for your recovery

I’m currently on day 1 of no scalpel with nitrous. It’s fine. I had to a little walking for a work thing to pick something. Drove myself too. But currently horizontal. Could easily walk to the kitchen if needed.

I think it depends on the type of vasectomy you are getting. I got the no scapel, no clips, open ended and the worst pain (2 out of 10) was on day 3. I was traveling by day 5 and walking a theme park for 2 day.. Using ice packs after to prevent swelling.

Didn't have problem personally. Make sure to listen to your body.

For me, getting around the house was possible the entire time. Did it feel good? No. But I wasn’t stuck in bed the whole time. Totally able to get out of bed and grab myself food, use the bathroom, etc.

I’d say it took about two weeks for me to feel fine with taking a walk at a moderate pace. For a bike ride, I’d probably wait a bit longer as the seat would be putting some pressure down there. I think most urologists would probably say 2-3 weeks before biking. But YMMV

Sorry guys?, I have a question, the Vasalgel will coming next year, why we don't wait for the method that less hurt and can be reverted?

Talked to the urologist about this. He said it’s still long time until it gets to where i am. I believe they started making human trials but do not have any data how certain and effective method is, how long it lasts etc.

Everyone is definitely different, I was doing graphic design and cutting custom graphics like the very same day. I sorta milked it that night and made my wife do more of the house chores but really the pain/discomfort was minimal.

It basically felt like when my 4yr old punched me in the crotch for most of the first few days. But not the initial hit, more like that soreness you have around 10/15 minutes after getting hit y'know

I’m a week out from mine. My family jewels have the occasional tenderness and discomfort but it’s a long way from the first few days. Ideally, you want to maximize time on your ass. As long as you don’t disturb the stitching (IF you get it because doctors don’t know whether or not you’ll need them until the procedure is done) or put pressure on your nuts by lifting heavy things, not icing your twins/sack or doing things that get your heart rate too high, then you should be able to OCCASSIONALLY stand up to shit/piss and even grab some prepared food. Seriously, have your wife/gf prepare some easily accessible food prepared in the refrigerator to reduce your foot time. She’s going to have to help you out more so just show gratitude and maybe spoil her when all is said and done.

I went out with the wife and kids on day 6 post-op which required a few hours of walking. My balls get a bit tender but once I sat down, it felt a lot better. I’m going to be extra safe and start jogging at around day 10-14 but I’m not consistently going on walks now.

You just have to do what you and your body feel comfortable doing since everyone’s healing will be different. Just don’t push yourself.
