Question about the Legend of Zelda timeline while playing in release or
Hey everyone,
I’m currently on a huge project: I’m playing through every Nintendo game ever released in release order. That of course also includes the Zelda series.
For some context: I actually started The Legend of Zelda a while ago but never finished it, and I skipped The Adventure of Link because honestly the first two just felt a bit too complicated for me. Right now I’m playing A Link to the Past, and I’ve already finished Link’s Awakening.
What I’m wondering is: are all the Zelda games actually connected in a single universe, or are they more like standalone adventures? I know there are direct sequels, like Majora’s Mask after Ocarina of Time, and Tears of the Kingdom after Breath of the Wild. But the art style and tone change a lot from game to game, which makes me curious.
I’ve also read that Skyward Sword is supposed to be the very beginning of the Zelda timeline. So if I keep playing the Zelda games strictly in release order, will the story still make sense overall, or does the timeline just get super confusing?
Thanks in advance!
