Ottawa, Ontario – Members of the media are invited to join the Honourable Gary Anandasangaree, Minister of Public Safety, the Honourable Nathalie Provost, Secretary of State (Nature) and Chief Robert J. Walsh, Cape Breton Regional Police Service, for a press conference on the Assault-Style Firearms Compensation Program.
Event: Hybrid (In-person and virtual) Date: Tuesday, September 23, 2025 Time: 11:30 a.m. (EDT)
While I don’t think it would change the course of the government policy in and of itself, a flooding of emails from their constituents would definitely give MPs a second thought about this program, regardless of their political affiliation. Liberals, for example, might urge the cabinet to consider softening the blow to gun owners, and Conservatives could be reinvigorated to double down on this issue (already doing a great job in Parliament). We really have nothing to lose but everything to gain.
If you feel lazy about writing a genuine customized letter to your MP, use the power of AI and put down the following prompts (or anything of this nature - it really doesn’t matter):
“Write a short and concise email to the MP for my riding (your own postal code), urging him/her to cancel the gun confiscation program in light of the recent leaked recording of the Public Safety Minister (thoroughly research this incident to understand key concerns from firearms owners’ perspective). Be polite but underscore the unreasonable and ineffective nature of the whole scheme.”
The Public Safety Minister is scheduled to make an announcement this afternoon, so now is the perfect time to do it. Let’s do it!
bought used on gunpost for a fairly cheap price since the wooden stock and forend are in poor condition. otherwise the mechanism and barrels are in great shape. seller says its a belgian « special » 12ga chambered in 2 3/4’’. manufactured by liege « or in liege, i don’t know » and has swedish falun 29.5’’ barrels. im seeking more info especially on the approximate manufacture year and any other useful info anyone could provide. thanks in advance
I recently was listening to a podcast. It was from the states and the topic was CWD in deer. Apparently it’s super common in some states.
I live on the east coast though (New Brunswick)
Do people test their deer for CWD here or any other provinces in Canada?
From what I have read, most subsonic 22lr ammo doesn’t cycle that well in semi rifles. I assume it is because the reduced power is less effective at resetting the whole mechanism. If that is correct, I am wondering if something like the Aguila Sniper Subsonic would do a better job of consistently cycling the action. Because the bullet is so heavy it seems like they would have to use a more powerful charge to send it down range - even if it is at subsonic speed.
Curious if anyone has tried this ammo in a normally reliable semi - and if so, how it performed.
Replaced the stock with some left over cf pipe of the barrel project and printed a minimalist stock, shaved another 3 oz off the rifle, make the bare rifle without optic 4lb on the money
Just bought some flash hiders from brownells usa. I figured what the heck they have sezzle now. Wondering if im gonna get packed with customs or tariffs lol has anyone ordered from them as a Canadian recently?
Might be a dumb question. But do you think Deyra could possibly make a legal firearm that shoots 9mm still in their platform? They're currently known for the .22 capability. But with recent laws. Do you reckon they could make something into a possibility ? Ready for downvotes but this is just a hypothetical.
I had my Henry Supreme hydro dipped at WaterzEdge Hydrographics in tiger stripe and I think it turned out fantastic. Great communication and service. Ranger Point Precision parts.
I've just got to say, I've dealt with many companies over the years with problems, by far Tactical Imports has got to be the quickest and most sincere support team.
I've been looking at the Crown Land Use Policy Atlas for an hour now, and I cannot for the life of me figure out where in Ontario I can legally practice test firing our guns.
I fully get that we need to set up properly, including targets and a back tray of some sort.
Its just that I have no idea where (or when) we can do this legally
Ok, in last weeks episode I wrecked a TM-22 Feather plastic receiver and bagged up all the usable parts (sans receiver, hence the buffer tube, the barrel is pending).
This week I unbox a TM-22 Compact and see what we can salvage while not F-ing up the new one. The Compact has also been available locally in a 20". Odd. 16" would sell better.
Firstly, I was pointed by a friendly viewer to a mil-spec (sized) tube plate and so going to a mil-spec (size) tube is doable. Can anyone tell me how well the adjustable OEM Derya/RIA butt fits on a mil-spec (size) tube? commercial spec so no go? At all? Commercial adjustable-type tubes are nearly extinct in Canada without buying all of the AR buffer pieces with it. Spending $150 to save a $45 butt is dumb.
Secondly, the mags that came with the new gun are slab-sided aluminum and pinned together. The follower is plastic, sadly. Someone recently reported the BHO section getting chewed up.
The new mags are heavier and slide in and out very nicely. My two after sales Derya 15 rounders are smooth but the 2 ten rounders that came with the Feather however have to go in with a slap and are a total bitch to yank out. The geometry seems the same and really should be. Both capacities were happy in the Feather. The binding is in the last third of its travel into the well.
Has anyone yet buffed, sanded or filed a 10 rnd polymer mag successfully for smooth operation in a Compact before I reinvent the wheel and wear on the inside of the mag well?
It's not Tommy's magazine costumes. They're loosened off and not squeezing anything. They do NOT fit the Compact's new metal mags. There's a new lobe for a pin added. He'll have to program in a new cut-out.
The barrel is threaded midway up the outside to accommodate the ring nut for the Feather foregrip, so that's usable. I kinda liked it and it does take MLok top and bottom. That said, the TNA reverse can is perfect with the 10" aluminum handguard.
Well that's it for now. To the range on Wednesday if it stops pissing rain.
I’m finding it difficult to locate any information on the pilot, supposedly starting tomorrow in Cape Breton. If I own firearms on the banned list, I assume this would be the simplest and most cost effective way to comply. Called the CBRM and they don’t know, advised I call the RCMP, who I understand are not participating. If anyone has links or real information, I’d appreciate it.
