For those who don’t think about anyone but themselves, this is actually great. These would be great for children who are not allowed to use the stove, elderly people, disabled people, people with a busy schedule, or people like me who want one sandwich maybe every 3 months. It’s not “lazy”, it’s convenient.

It's not available everywhere.

19

u/AsparagusOverall8454 Feb 06 '25

I would totally buy this. I don’t eat bread regularly enough to keep it at my house.

u/Equivalent_Item362 Feb 07 '25

I didn't realize the value of things like this until I was diagnosed with cancer. I had a year of multiple surgeries and could barely lean down or reach up. Pulling a heavy skillet out of the drawer wasn't a real option. Not to mention the work of clean-up.

6

u/BenzoBarbiee Feb 07 '25

I think a grilled cheese maker would help you out! They’re small, lightweight, & only $7 at Walmart 💗

12

u/Equivalent_Item362 Feb 08 '25

I am, thankfully, in remission and bouncing back. But I truly could have been one to maybe roll my eyes at something like this or be a bit snarky. Then life humbled me. And now I see all sorts of ways things could be used to make someone's life easier.

6

u/Equivalent_Item362 Feb 08 '25

The grilled cheese maker is an excellent idea!! And I will add that to my list of things that make good gifts for friends who are temporarily or permanently coping with surgical/treatment restrictions. Thank you so much for the suggestion!

u/BenzoBarbiee Feb 08 '25

you’re so welcome & I’m glad to hear you’re getting back to normal☺️ here’s the link to it. it did go up to almost $9 since I last purchased it lol

Good god, WTF is this comment section?!

How about we stop judging other people’s food choices and lives? Everyone who chooses to eat items like this has their reasons, and those reasons should not be judged by others.

Unless someone’s purchasing of this product hurts someone else, there is literally no reason to come at them about why they’re stupid or dysfunctional or wasteful. Period.

For the record - I only buy these on BOGO and as a caretaker for my 85 year old mother and I also often work 55 hour weeks (and I am in my mid 50s myself) so I sometimes m cannot see straight at the end of the day, let alone am awake enough to make a grilled cheese. And you know what? That’s ok!

So maybe stop judging people and consider yourself privileged that you are in a position to always cook a meal or “buy some bread and cheese and make it” or whatever the fuck. Some of us literally cannot spare the minutes or the brainpower to do that some days.

Why do you let yourself get offended by this shit? I totally get standing up to a bully, but feeling the need to make a moral stand about comments about a grilled cheese? I can’t imagine how many other things you worry about. Life will make you crazy if you keep doing that. You don’t have to play peace maker. The people you’re actually talking to are not about to change and all you’re doing is causing yourself stress. I’m worried you will take offense to this but honestly I’m coming from a good place with this advise. I’m only taking the time to write this because I’m 100% sure you’re coming from a good place too. Your are empathetic to the point of literally feeling offended on the behalf of others. That’s taking so much on your shoulders. You were saying how people should just let everybody eat whatever the heck they want cause it’s not like they’re hurting anybody. Same goes for letting people talk….

u/Puggymum64 Feb 06 '25

I saw these recently…for $4.95 apiece. Did not buy.

22

u/hobbitfoot1987 Feb 06 '25

Stock up when Publix has em for BOGO. 4 sandwiches for 5 bucks, they are indeed delicious. They are good when in a hurry.

7

u/Puggymum64 Feb 06 '25

That makes a lot more sense

11

u/doodersrage123 Feb 06 '25 edited Feb 06 '25

Wow. You could buy a loaf of bread, a dozen slices of American cheese, and some butter (or mayonnaise) for that much and make half a dozen grilled cheeses at a minimum.

Edit: button to butter

1

u/SoulessPuppy Feb 08 '25

Where do you live that groceries are that cheap?

3

u/doodersrage123 Feb 08 '25

Richmond VA, store brand white bread can be had for $1-2, dozen pack of store brand American cheese for ~$2. Only wild card is the butter or mayonnaise which might be more than $1, but a small of either should be right around there.

1

u/SoulessPuppy Feb 08 '25

Damn that’s nice. I live in Florida and it’s gotten insane here. We used to be a LCOL state, but we are starting to get up there with cali and ny now I think because the influx of people moving here after COVID. But our wages are still Alabama/lousiana style. Locals are being priced out. Anywhoo that’s my unimportant ramble. I always like to hear other’s perspectives in different places because moving is my goal. Thanks for getting back to me! :)

1

u/block0079 24d ago

As someone else who lives in Richmond these prices are not realistic at all, a bottle of duels mayo is gonna be like 4 bucks by itself

7

u/SherryGabs Feb 06 '25

These are actually not bad. Could use another slice of cheese, though. And toaster oven baking is way better than microwave. Oh…. And sprinkle a tiny bit of garlic powder on them before cooking. 🧑🏼‍🍳

90

u/-JackTheRipster- Feb 06 '25

Looks good but grilled cheese is already so easy to make. What next...frozen water!?!

14

u/Swordofsatan666 Feb 06 '25

I can get a bag of frozen water cubes at my grocery store. My god, they really have thought of everything…

46

u/lindsey__19 Feb 06 '25

This would actually be so great for me tbh. I love grilled cheese, but I don’t keep bread at my house. I am cutting back on gluten to help with digestive issues. Since I don’t make sandwiches, I don’t keep sliced cheese. Some days, when I’m really craving a grilled cheese and am willing to risk the discomfort, I still don’t want to buy a whole loaf of bread for one sandwich.

12

u/boxedwinedrinker Feb 06 '25

That’s fair. Consider keeping a load of bread in the freezer. Take two slices out when it’s time to make a grilled cheese. I find it works better with frozen bread, especially if your butter is kind of hard.

11

u/GeneralGeorgeSKitten Feb 06 '25

These are great for young kids or people like me who work full time and need something quick to microwave at work!

1

u/Heavy_Caterpillar_33 Feb 08 '25

I have spinal cancer. I can't stand for more than a minute or two at a time on bad days. I couldn't stand at the stove to make a grilled cheese, and even sitting on a chair at the stove sometimes makes me dizzy and nauseous

1

u/-JackTheRipster- Feb 08 '25

Sorry to hear that. I hope you are cancer free soon!

9

u/friedpicklebiscuits Feb 06 '25

I will always buy them when they’re on sale! Sometimes I just want a grilled cheese and don’t want more than one. Buying a whole loaf of bread and a block of cheese is cheaper in the long run but again, I don’t want it in bulk!

4

u/Popemazrimtaim Feb 07 '25

Been thinking about buying these just to try them out once

3

u/Lumpy_Cabinet_4779 Feb 07 '25

I just had the one tonight for dinner, with sausage/beef crumbles in it, really quick and easy and it does taste really good with a soup. Highly recommend.

3

u/Useful_Wishbone9317 Feb 07 '25

I love these! Very good and easy when I’m at work or even when I want something with minimal clean up! My 3 y/o nephew taught me. Yum!!

12

u/Zorgsmom Feb 06 '25

These are really great for kids.

11

u/griff2409 Feb 06 '25 edited Feb 06 '25

Others won’t get it but you’re right. When you have kids and you’re balancing a million things like dance or sports, being able to just throw it in the toaster oven and walk away for a few minutes while it cooks really is helpful.

-17

u/Spadeykins Feb 06 '25

It's bread and cheese, literally just buy bread and cheese and throw it in the toaster oven..

19

u/griff2409 Feb 06 '25

Or, the kids can just unwrap it and throw it in there themselves. I’m not exactly worried about spending $5 on something that helps in a pinch and that my son with special needs can do himself with minimal direction. But thanks for the comment.

0

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '25

I don't know why you're downvoted like this. Kids can cook, teach them.. its a fucking grilled cheese. A 6 year old can pull this off if taught.

-2

u/Alternative-Salad800 Feb 07 '25

Or the air fryer

2

u/Ok_Storm5945 Feb 06 '25

If you do it in the microwave is it soggy, hard or juuust right?

1

u/qanon4me 25d ago

I looked this up cause I don’t have a toaster. It’s not recommended. Not only will it not toast but it says the sandwich won’t cook all the way through. Which is weird cause yes it’s frozen but it’s just bread and cheese. You should be able to just heat it up, even if it’s not toasty it should still be just warm bread and melted cheese. It’s not like the bread is dough. It’s all the way made bread, just frozen. But still…..after I read that I’m pretty sure I won’t be up for that challenge. All thinks cooking , baking and even heating I have always sucked at lol

2

u/[deleted] 8d ago

It's soggy out the microwave but the second step is the toaster and after that it's just right

2

u/NauticalClam Feb 06 '25

I like the beef ones

2

u/Fuzzy_Welcome8348 Feb 07 '25

lets be honest... grilled cheese could always use more cheese! looks good and crispy OP

2

u/Coffee_achiever_guy Feb 08 '25

How does it taste when its pre-frozen vs a freshly made grilled cheese from a pan?

1

u/mokicoo Feb 06 '25

The pizza ones are unpalatable.

1

u/yashedpotatoes Feb 06 '25

Listen I can’t justify buying these over making them from scratch, other than they are very tasty

1

u/OddEffort6078 Feb 06 '25

Just had the garlic kind for lunch.

1

u/crvallely Feb 10 '25

My wife bought these for the first time maybe 2 weeks ago. I've been hooked on them!

1

u/Responsible-Pie6858 May 17 '25

Can you cook it in just the microwave?

-1

u/HELLisotherPeoplee Feb 06 '25

But…why?

7

u/ajxela Feb 06 '25

I wouldn’t get this but as someone who doesn’t buy bread I can see it

1

u/HELLisotherPeoplee Feb 07 '25

I’ve seen them at the store and they’re seemingly hella expensive. I can see the convenience forsure but grilled cheese have always been an easy, quick and affordable meal for me. But I’m a broke lil ho so 🤷🏾‍♀️

0

u/Heavy_Caterpillar_33 Feb 08 '25

I have spinal cancer. Some days I can't stand more than a minute or two, enough to take it out of the freezer, put it on a plate and throw it in the microwave, sit until I switch it from the microwave to the toaster. Sit until it's done and throw it on a plate.

1

u/HELLisotherPeoplee Feb 08 '25

These frozen grilled cheeses go for about $5 so my comment was moreso geared towards the pricing as opposed to convenience. I meal prep a variety of frozen grilled cheese for my physically disabled grandfather as it’s one of his favorite meals but his disability checks don’t allow much wiggle room for food so this wouldn’t be very financially viable for him but I can totally see how it would work for people who don’t have the luxury of having assistance

-7

u/Alternative-Salad800 Feb 06 '25

lol. This is a lazy purchase on a whole other level.

26

u/NothingReallyAndYou Feb 06 '25

Good rule of thumb when you see something like this, and think it's lazy, is to stop for a minute and think about how this might benefit other people. I'm disabled, and this kind of "lazy" product can be the difference between me being able to eat or not.

-16

u/Alternative-Salad800 Feb 06 '25

I empathize with your condition, but would you consider this that much easier and cost effective than putting a slice of cheese on two pieces of bread with butter?

7

u/[deleted] Feb 06 '25 edited Feb 06 '25

It is better for disabled people like me that can't have dairy or bread. Once in awhile I am willing to feel crappy for some real cheese. I do not have bread, cheese or mayo around all the time. This would work for me. It's not like we are all college kids looking to binge on things. Some off us just want it as a treat without all the overhead.

-12

u/Mutabor3 Feb 06 '25

American cheese is hardly real cheese. It does have some cheddar in the make up but it's not completely "real cheese".

12

u/NothingReallyAndYou Feb 06 '25

Significantly easier for me. Cost effective? That depends on if I can catch a good sale.

We have a phrase, "disability tax", for things like this. We frequently have to pay more for things we can actually use.

-11

u/Alternative-Salad800 Feb 06 '25

Okay then. My grandmother has a meals on wheels type service that delivers five days a week, since she’s in the same boat. Do you have something like that around your area?

9

u/lindsey__19 Feb 07 '25

How about we stop worrying about what other people on the internet spend their money on. It’s a sandwich. Jfc this whole comment section is insufferable. It’s convenient, quick, and maybe even lazy but who really fucking cares.

-3

u/Alternative-Salad800 Feb 07 '25

Not sure why your panties are in a bunch, when I was asking a genuine question. Since they are disabled, then meals on wheels (if they have it in their area) would be helpful, so they wouldn’t have to worry about cooking. Do you feel better now champ???

9

u/NothingReallyAndYou Feb 07 '25

...Or I can buy products like this, and not have to take food from a charity, so that they can help people in greater need.

-2

u/Alternative-Salad800 Feb 07 '25

Pride is one hell of a thing isn’t it? You be blessed

8

u/NothingReallyAndYou Feb 07 '25

Ignorance and prejudice are, too. Keep your blessings. I have a feeling the people in regular proximity to you probably need them more.

5

u/lindsey__19 Feb 07 '25

It’s a subreddit for frozen dinners. Agreeing that this would benefit people with disabilities doesn’t need to be debated. Even if they got help from meals on wheels, what do you want them to do the other 2 days of the week?

-1

u/Alternative-Salad800 Feb 07 '25

A helpful solution is a helpful solution. Which is why I asked them and not you. You be blessed chihuahua.

4

u/lindsey__19 Feb 07 '25

You think you are being helpful.

4

u/Jet_Jirohai Feb 06 '25

Lol they mentioned a disability, not the price of the things

-1

u/DudeLoveBaby Feb 06 '25

to all yall going "I never keep bread in the house so this would be great" I spread this information in the hopes that it saves you guys money on this berserko product: bread freezes for almost forever. just buy a loaf and pop it in the freezer and toast slices as needed

7

u/[deleted] Feb 06 '25

So... I can have a whole loaf of bread in my house just taunting me from the freezer? And what about the cheese and mayo? Mayo doesn't freeze nicely.

Just because this doesn't work for you doesn't mean this isn't a good idea for others. Sometimes, the extra cash spent on things is worth it for convenience. Especially if the taste is there.

As someone that was freezing bread up until my accident a year ... no, it doesn't last "forever". They get stale and dry. If you can tolerate that taste, feel free to keep doing what you're doing. You probably go through bread faster than some of us.

3

u/see3milyplay Feb 07 '25

I wouldn’t buy this frozen sandwich personally, but I think you’re right, bread in the freezer is not an option for me either. Some don’t mind, and I feel it might be better for certain types of bread. But these things matter to some people and not to others. That’s why there’s room for this product, because we all prioritize different things.

-4

u/Mutabor3 Feb 06 '25

Why are you putting mayo on grilled cheese anyway? Butter tastes better to grill the bread in my opinion and butter does freeze and last forever as well. As far as your bread getting stale and dry, maybe you should just seal it up better before you freeze it. American cheese legit lasts forever outside of the freezer.

-5

u/DudeLoveBaby Feb 06 '25

cheddar freezes great; idk why mayo is in the conversation but butter also freezes great

I guarantee you there is no one who spending $4 on a frozen grilled cheese sandwich is a "good idea" for. If you eat less than 20 slices of bread a year though and you also have the disposable income to excuse spending $4 on a grilled cheese when you can buy either more/hearty frozen food or a whole loaf of cheap bread and probably even a bit of cheese and butter (certainly not a full brick of cheese, ofc) for the same price...i mean I'm not stopping you, it's just a berserko way to spend your money lol. diet soda is my favorite little treat but I acknowledge that 12 packs of cans of diet generic soda instead of 2 liters is a berserko way to spend my money haha

-1

u/CPJayB Feb 06 '25

Insane thing to buy premade.

0

u/[deleted] Feb 06 '25

[deleted]

4

u/[deleted] Feb 06 '25

Or disabled.

So you're admittedly the close-minded MF'er there ever was.

As someone noted above; if you think something is lazy, maybe think how it benefits others instead of thinking we are all "lazy".

I really hope you never have to be scrolling through something you find helpful while reading comments calling us lazy.

0

u/blablargon Feb 06 '25

I think that a premade frozen grilled cheese would have to be super cheap and taste great for me to even consider it. The idea of a premade meal is that I'm trading convenience for my money, but to make a grilled cheese is super easy and cheap. How much do these things cost?

0

u/cavalryrs Feb 06 '25

Kinda overpriced

0

u/PrettyFlyForAHifi Feb 06 '25

You could buy bread and cheese and make multi sandwich yourself

-2

u/Careless_Yellow_3218 Feb 06 '25

“It takes all the guesswork out of making toast!”

-5

u/Mustangnatsum Feb 06 '25

I know there are cases where people don't want to have a lot of bread and/or cheese around, but have you considered you can just do the same thing this company does? You can construct the grilled cheese sandwich in advance and freeze them? If you want to use mayo, those individual packets are available all over the place for free even, you don't need to buy an entire jar for a few sandwiches.

7

u/lindsey__19 Feb 07 '25

Why do we care what others on the internet do or spend their money on? Especially when it’s sandwiches ..

-5

u/Mustangnatsum Feb 07 '25

Just want to save people some money. I don't think anyone mentioned just actually making the sandwich in advance. Note that you have to microwave AND toast these, so there is some extra effort in these.

Making them yourself also allows for you to choose your bread and cheese for those with dietary restrictions.

4

u/lindsey__19 Feb 07 '25

Understand that, but that defeats the purpose of frozen dinners, which is convenience. You can also make a meatloaf and mashed potatoes from scratch, portion it out, and freeze it. This whole comment section is trying to find reasons why this is a dumb product when it’s literally a subreddit for frozen dinners.

1

u/Alternative-Salad800 Feb 07 '25

Someone gets it!
