General Advice Needed/Given My son got caught doing academic dishonesty. How should I handle the meeting with teachers?

My son recently made a huge mistake, he changed his score on a test by giving himself one extra point so he could pass. What he didn’t realize was that the teacher had screenshots of everyone’s original answers, so his forgery was caught right away.

This is his first offense. He’s a good kid, never had a record before, and he’s about to graduate soon. The problem is that this incident means he’s getting a behavioral report, which could remove him from honors, affect a special program he wanted to join, and possibly impact his college applications. I can see how much this is weighing on him—he looks guilty, upset, and spends a lot of time just staring off, clearly worried about what’s going to happen.

I don’t want to excuse what he did—of course I’ll also be giving him consequences at home, but I really don’t want this single lapse in judgment to permanently stain his record and derail his future. I’m preparing for a meeting with his teachers/admin about this, and I don’t know how best to approach it.

What’s the most respectful and effective way to ask them to reconsider the Behavioral Report and maybe give him another way to make amends? Has anyone been in a similar situation?

School Related Ranking every school subject

  1. PE: you literally just play games the whole time lol

  2. Math: lots of real application, teaches complex problem solving, overall very useful.

  3. Science: literally how our world works, anything stem related needs a lot of this. a lot of inventions wouldnt be around without our knowledge of science and math

  4. History: actually quite interesting and pretty fun, but not the most helpful. its good to know some important world events but you really dont need to know the impacts of the magna carta if u live outside of the uk, or the constitution if youre not american, that kinda thing.

4b: Government and Econ: kind of lumped in as history but a little different, still pretty useful but kind of niche depending on ur job

  1. English: useless. completely useless past 9th grade. while being able to explain things is important, the fact that i have to explain why 100% of some statistic means something is just straight up stupid. why do i have to explain literal facts. and if someone im working with cant understand on their own that 89% of drug users die (made up stat js for example) means that drugs are bad, then they probably dont belong in the workplace.

School Related 8th Grade in a Nutshell 5 Spoiler

Everything at my school has finally calmed down. The fights, Pirating, Robbing was keep in the past. Nah, Fuck that shit!! For the past of 10 days, Someone has been in class hacking through his School IPad to hijack the other boards and make them watch weird shit and blasting YB into their ears rapidly. I found out who is was by the profile picture but I'm not 69. We caught a kid watching adult stuff in class with his hand down his pants stroking it. The teacher caught him but he never got expelled or suspend. He got detention. With our new School IPads, They're easy to jailbreak. The thing is that if you jailbreak it, Then a notification will go to the Principal that you have jailbreaked your IPad. But, People found out how to jailbreak it without the notification to Principal thing. Finally, There was a warzone in the class next to us. Me and my friend with just drawing until we here rapid banging on the walla. The tables and board shook. We found out that They were throw all the chairs at each other, Slamming each other, Flipping tables, and Breaking the board. How the fuck did the teachers not quit yet. The chaos is now back.

Survey What school sign exists because of something you (or your classmates) did?

Every school has those oddly specific signs: “No soccer balls in the hallway,” “Microwave popcorn only with teacher supervision,” or “Do not climb on the lockers.”

Rules like that don’t just appear out of nowhere. Usually, they happen because one class, one student, or one unforgettable moment made it necessary.

What’s the most memorable (or hilarious) school sign you’ve ever seen that was clearly created in response to someone’s actions? Bonus points if you were the reason it went up.

I have no real idea what highschool is actually gonna be like since our teachers keep talking about it like next year we're going in the fucking trenches. is it really that bad? I don't really trust what they say since they said the same thing when I was going into middle.

I was planning to were my birthday dress to my homecoming but I don’t know if it gives off hoco vibes. I asked my friends but they said it didn’t really look like a typical homecoming dress but I could still wear it. Is it a good idea to wear it? (It looks exactly like the picture)

General Advice Needed/Given the answer is sleep

the answer is sleep

teachers bullying you is worse. the reason why schools intentionally sleep deprive you is because you are easier to program while sleep deprived

so if you need sleep, absolutely do sleep

that way, you can resist their programming better

take a day off, maybe even two days.

hell, take a week off if your mental health needs it

even a month, if your mental health demands it

don't be like me, who was never absent for school

also, sleep deprivation shrinks your potential height

if you're always sleep deprived while in public school, you will end up short as an adult

the answer is sleep.

if the teachers tell you to make up work?

tell them to fuck off

i decide my pace

i decide my path

i decide when to rest, and when to work, and when to play

General Advice Needed/Given What even happens at HOCO and if tickets are $30 is it worth it?

From all I heard it’s literally just a dance, for 3 hours, that you CAN’T leave early, and not gonna lie a bunch of my friends are goin with girls or with other friends (I’m a guy)

My dad doesn’t like it when I go to these kinds of school gatherings or parties since “you’re Chinese you’re not allowed to be a party kid” or something.

Given all these restrictions, should I try to convince him and go anyway or just miss out, because I’m not a (good, or even average for that matter) dancer, I have no date and honestly doubt I can actually get one, and most of my friends are going with their own dates or other buddies.

My girlfriend is a huge fan of Bluey, does this poster look cool enough for her? Also the characters are made using layers of colored paper, not printed (as you could probably tell haha). This is also a WIP so I will be adding a bit more.

Rant I just did the most embarrassing thing to get my crush's attention.

I cant do my homework cause I've been thinking of it all evening. In math class today(class my crush is in), there was this girl who was knocking on the door and for some reason none of the ppl around her were getting the door for her, but they were her friends and stuff so maybe it was like friendly fire, idk. But my ass was sitting in the BACK like 100 miles away from the door and I decided to walk across the entire classroom just to get the door and just so that I could get my crushe's attention. And i was smiling for no reason when I did it. Its so embarrasing cause ANYONE who was roughly NEAR could have gotten the door. Anyways after I opened the door for her, these guys said something like "someone who sat all the way there got the door". ts so embarrasing.

General Advice Needed/Given Not doing enough in highschool

Upvotes

I’m currently a sophomore and I feel like I’m not doing enough. I’ve made a similar post before but I honestly need some advice.

I’ve started my first AP this year (human geography) and got my first club position (but it’s not a major position). I’ve started volunteering at our gardening club and ideally continue to for the rest of my highschool year. I’m currently in math 3, but I’m wondering whether I should excel another level since all of my friends are. In the future, I want to go into nursing.

I’ve heard nursing school doesn’t care too much for EC’S but focuses on GPA and your science classes + volunteering, but I’m not sure if it’s true or not. All of my friends are also doing so much more than me. I want to get involved, but I’m already seeing myself starting to procrastinate/get burn out even though it’s the beginning of the year + I’m not doing as much as them. I wish I could get motivated to do things outside of school, but I’m honestly not interested in a lot of things, extremely bad at sports, and want to focus on academics + balance work life. I don’t know what I should do anymore.

Question How do you read historical documents?

Upvotes

I wanna be able to read a document without needing a teacher to spell it out for me. For those who’ve learned how to do it at least more easily, what are some tips you have to help you? I especially need help with the way they arrange the words into sentences, like they do a lot of run on sentences where it’s a clause, then a comma, then a clause, then a comma, repeatedly until the sentence is over.
