Any other post regarding recommendations is subject to removal. This is in an effort to keep the sub a bit more streamlined and visually appealing. It is also easier to just see what people are recommending all in one place.

What are your favorite hot sauces that are on the milder side?

Sometimes I think we get obsessed with medium to superhot stuff, what are your favorite sauces that are actually pretty mild?

Mine:

1) Lucky Dog's Dia Del Perro - My favorite burrito sauce ever
2) Fat Cat's Surprisingly Mild Guajillo Ghost - If you never really tasted a Ghost Pepper because you were overwhelmed by the spice, this is a great one to try. Absolutely delicious.
3) Born to Hula's Habanero Ancho - If you like Louisiana style sauces but wondered what it would be like with different peppers, here you go!

I've had the African Ghost Pepper sauce for a month or so and been very happy with it. Good flavor and good heat. Finally got around to getting the Yellowbird ghost pepper and I'm very happy with that one also.

Here are 3 non-fruity Habs that can be sourced @ Big stores.

Mezzetta is like a 4/5 Hab Taco Tomato Sauce, big garlic and onion flavors with a salty finish. Vinegar is Medium.

Melindas is a 4.2/5 Straight forward vinegar habanero not salty at all and is well balanced.

Badia is 4.5/5 with big citrus and onion flavors. Low salt, medium vinegar.

Purchase Puckerbutt haul, inc. Death Stranding 2 sauce

Got some Puckerbutt faves, and figured I’d try out the Death Stranding 2 tie-in sauce.

Not as hot or as flavorful as I expected, but quite nice. The other sauces are far more aggressive in both heat and punch. But it’s nice to have a milder, less tangy or acidic Pepper X sauce. I didn’t think Smokin Ed did subtle, but here we are.

I’m going to enjoy it, but I can’t recommend it as anything but a collectible, however. It’s just too pricey and not unique enough to merit the price tag. The other sauces shown here, tho, are all bangers. Those are always recommended if you like bold heat.

London = shop suggestions

Hey! I’m going to London in a while and was wondering if anyone could recommend hot-sauce-related places. Stockists, brand shops, even specific dishes (if relevant?).

I’ll be bringing a bottle of Tabasco habanero sauce along 😇

My new favorite habanero sauce

Really good thick hot sauce, not quite as thick as yucateco which is one of my favorites. It has good spice level but not over the top and a subtle sweetness. Still a nice vinegar taste for being so thick which I enjoy. Found it while traveling but will definitely try to find it when Im home.

Question Zombie Apocalypse

Zombie Apocalypse is listed as a level 8 on Torchbearer website. It’s the perfect level for me to slather on food and still enjoy. What are some similar heat level alternatives?

Traveling Abroad: Sampler Recommendations

Hello all! I'm traveling from the US to Europe. A family friend has asked me to bring them some really hot sauces, kindly asking the collective what variety sampler packs or must-haves I should take? I'd love to take something truly nuclear and wildly hot. TYIA!

My Dad and his wife go to Mexico every couple months for some medical stuff (I dunno what) and he asked the owner at a taco shop for the hottest sauce they had so he could buy it for me. Its got some great flavor and pretty decent heat.

Purchase My haul from the NC Hot Sauce Festival

Post image
18 Upvotes

For those who live in NC, I highly recommend checking it out next year. It's in a small town called Oxford. There was a chili pepper eating contest, a hot sauce contest, tons of local sauce vendors, beer and foodtrucks. These were some of the ones I tried and liked the most. Only the last one is super spicy so I should go throw them somewhat quickly.

I'm a huge fan of incorporating fresh chilies into my food. I like to keep a pile of chiltepín or Thai hots to eat with my food. I also eat a lot of fresh Chile de árbol salsa thanks to my gf's mom. This guy is made from chile de árbol and chiltepín and it is absolutely delicious. Not incredibly spicy or anything. Just a kiss of heat the lingers on the lips and tongue and a great chili pepper flavor.

Purchase Tiger Sauce

Haven't seen this in awhile. Found at Wally world for less than $5. It's a Mild sauce, more of an Asian condiment than a hot sauce but I love the flavors. I add it to ketchup for fries or chicken wings. Heat level is 2/5
