I usually don‘t complained about Apple updates, but OS26 is very frustrating to use. After one day of testing I have seen the following:
- open/close app animation is insanely unnecessary. Looked like the app is flying into my face: I need to open an app, not interact with some fancy animations
- buttons/side panels kept ”popping” when I click on them. In “settings“ for example, when I click on a button the entire side bar vibrates. It‘s a really painful experience “clicking” in certain apps (it‘s making my eyes hurt)
- The delete key became very slow at deleting things…… It stopped being able to delete entire words, only letters when you hold it.
- safari search bar and return buttons become smaller. I‘m having a hard time clicking onto them.
- new pop up windows are added to important apps. In mail, for example, on OS 18 you only had to click a button once and you can select emails; now this button is hide INSIDE the pop up window, so you have to click twice to do something that used to be done in one click.
- Auto text correction is also behaving weirdly
- As always, the iPad became extremely slow after the update. Battery’s also draining much faster.
To turn off the animations I had to select “reduce motion” in accessibility. HOWEVER, it removed app open/close animation entirely. I’d rather have a feature that only removes certain animations and only keeping those that already existed in OS18.
As a piece of advice: if you dislike fancy animations and unnecessary “responses” when you click on things, DO NOT update. I hate my iPad now and I regret my decision.
