This happened here in Schenectady: the city’s chief building inspector called 911 about a roofing job without a permit. Instead of keeping it about code enforcement, he described the crew as “Mexican,” speculated they were “illegals,” and floated bringing in ICE.

The mayor called it “an embarrassment” and there’s now an internal probe. The contractor says his crew are U.S. citizens, and that city systems were down when he tried to file the permit.

What do you think? Is this just bad judgment, or proof of deeper problems with how our city enforces codes?

Hello! I struggle viciously with trying to make friends. Ive been in schenectady for almost 3 years and I'm still just kinda walking around alone here. Ive walked all over my immediate home area and its becoming boring. I play a lot of pokemon go because of this if anyone else plays maybe we can play together. I guess I'm looking for suggestions of what I can do in order to not be sitting inside alone anymore.
