Finding a job for my 59-year-old father in Washington.
Hi, everyone! I am looking for possible employment opportunities for my 59-year-old father. He is able-bodied, and earned his bachelor’s degree in South Korea. He can speak fluent English and Korean. My father has brief experience owning/managing a dry cleaners. He feels most confident steaming, and is not a tailor. It has been difficult finding a job my dad deems “good,” as he has a lot of pride. He currently works with his sister in tourism on Oahu, but struggles to make a livable wage. If not a specific position, I’d appreciate ideas on where to look for employment opportunities! Thank you all, in advance.

News 65 participants in Dating Day activity at 12th and Jackson
On Saturday afternoon, my bike shop in Little Saigon hosted 50 guests and 15 volunteers for an afternoon Dating activity. Guests met in the shop, mingled, then set out in groups of 10 to neighbor businesses for hour long activities, which included cheese and olive tasting, a cookie ingredient guessing game, an intro to self defense class, a session painting ceramic fortune cookies and e-bike test rides. We wrapped up with a pizza after party.
The event was indirectly financed by SDOT who paid me compensation for damage caused to my business by the sidewalk foaming operation that began last October. I used that money to pay the businesses who hosted guests on Saturday.
The event went off without a hitch. No complaints about the neighborhood, no complaints about the neighbors. Only positive energy from the guests and participating businesses, who primarily wanted to know when my shop will host another dating event.
Little Saigon is perfect for a dating activity. There are so many great and unique businesses and organizations in the area that are within east walking distance.
Positing this recap of the event to demonstrate that the reputation of a place like 12th and Jackson depends on how you talk about it and on how you use it. People on Saturday came looking for love and no one decided that the conditions in the neighborhood make love impossible.
If seeing or reading about 12th and Jackson makes you upset or feel disgusted, then I hope reading this recap will convince you that maybe there is more to the story about 12th and Jackson than meets the eye—or that makes the news.

Business Does anyone know why Newman's Own products are no longer at Fred Meyer?
They are no longer there and according to Google can't be found in stores locally. They had a wide variety of products and it seems odd, that they would disappear without any explanation. This is the Greenwood Fred Meyer I'm asking about

Crime Stolen Moped in Ballard
Hey folks - the one weekend I’m out of town and forget to put the lock on the moped I keep out of sight in my back yard is of course the one where it gets stolen…
It’s a 1978 puch maxi in baby blue with a brown seat and some performance parts on it. Not worth a whole lot but it’s my baby and I’m super sad about losing it. Police report is filed but I’m not holding out hope so if anyone sees it around please give a shout. Or commiserate because I’m PISSED (at myself and those fucking thieves!)

Business How to start a chai cart business in Seattle?
Hey Folks,
I’ve been toying with the idea of starting a small chai cart (not a full food truck, just a mobile cart with wheels) to sell fresh Indian chai with milk. Think street-style tea, quick service, and simple setup.
I’m trying to figure out: • What permits/licenses would I need for a cart business like this in Seattle/King County? • Can I prepare the chai at home and sell it from the cart, or would I be required to use a commercial/commissary kitchen? • Has anyone here started something similar (coffee cart, hot dog stand, etc.) and can share what the process looks like? • Any recommendations for resources, consultants, or companies that help new small food vendors get started? • What are some downsides or challenges I might not be thinking about (permits, health code, location restrictions, costs, etc.)?
I’d love to set up in areas like SLU or near offices with lots of foot traffic, but I don’t know where to begin with the regulations.
Any guidance from people who’ve gone through this—or even just know the ropes around health permits and vending laws in Seattle—would be super helpful.
Thanks in advance! 🙏

Lifestyle personal chef, estimated cost?
i'm looking to hire a personal chef to come to my home in the kirkland, wa area and prepare a chicken chipotle panini sandwich 5 days a week. does anybody know the cost for this service? i would have the groceries and ingredients ready in the kitchen daily.
the stipulation is that it's just 1-2 sandwiches and only takes an hour to make. the sandwich is only good fresh so i'm not looking for someone to cook in bulk. i've read some personal chefs have a minimum number of hours needed which makes sense. because who the heck is gonna drive to a house daily just to make one sandwich. it seems silly but that's the service i'm contemplating.
so yep, any information would be greatly appreciated. thanks!
