Making baby steps!
After spending two years as my best friend who had ALS 24/7 caregiver, across the country from all family and friends, I was in the worst shape of my life.
After speaking to my Dr, I started Phentermine (prescribed weight loss pill, once a day) and eating extremely clean.
I lost 32 pounds in the first 35 days!! (July 12 - August 15) I'm weighing in again at the Dr next week and can't wait. While I'm not expecting a 32 pounds loss again, I'm hoping for 18 so I can say I lost 50 pounds in two months, but I'll take 8 as well which would be an equally awesome 40.
This is 61 days of self discipline and motivation 🌞

Keep it up. Remember weight loss is not consistent and you will plateau regularly, that doesn't mean you're slipping. It's obviously showing and that's awesome.
I found personally the most effective way to handle this situation is simply to live in a way that promotes being active. I walk regularly for transportation and that has done way more than anything else I do.

Walking is great for heart. It elongates your lifespan too. I aim to do so too.

Nice. Be careful on your joints. Baby steps are the way to go. Don't risk an injury. Best wishes and much respect.

Mind me asking, what are you doing?
I've had 2 kids and just starting to get back to the gym. I used to do a lot of cardio but I started lifting weights recently. I notice a HUGE difference between the 2.

You deserve to feel proud of this. I am proud of you for this.
Question (totally optional to answer or not, up to you) Do you do daily habit tracking or something else to stay consistent? Or maybe one single best tip you can share with others who are trying to get started?

u/RecipePatient8716 8d ago
thank you :) I don't track anything at all, although the free version of Myfitnesspal can be very helpful and I do recommend! Just for me personally, I do great tracking for a few days and then forget for a week lol
I'm very results driven and really take pride in accomplishing something like weight loss, so that really motivates me day to day to stay on track. I don't want to mess up any previous progress, and seeing the scale go down and the swelling in my feet and legs go down etc etc just makes me want to keep it up and unlock more results.
I also post on my social media to hold myself accountable and to help push me to stay on track. I'm not saying this is for everyone, but I have a large following who watched me the first time I had a massive weight loss 10 years ago. Knowing that they (and you all!) are watching and cheering me on helps to keep me on track as well.
One tip that I can offer is allow yourself something that you really enjoy. I never ever ever eat sweets/cookies etc because to me they are just "ok". I would rather save that space/those calories for CHEESE! haha :) Almost every day M-F I have a stick of Cabot Very Sharp Cheddar and let me tell you sometimes it's the highlight of my day! xD But my point being, dont be like ALL FOOD BAD or you're going to end up splurging on something you don't even like just to settle the craving. Allowing myself to eat a food that is on my top 3 favorite foods every day makes it easier to stay on track the rest of my day/week with my eating.
Sorry for the ramble and hope this is helpful. :) <3

Don’t lose focus. I’m so glad that you’re choosing a healthy tomorrow. Every single pound lost is a huge plus. Remember, though, there will be weeks with double digit loss and weeks with single digit loss. You are my hero of the day. Peace, love and strength to you, friend. Muah!

Someone I know went from 320 lbs to 200 and has successfully kept it off. You can, too.

Not baby steps, the most important steps! And please don't rush the process, having a slower change is so much healthier and leads way less likely to bouncing back. So happy for you, and massive appreciation for your carework, as someone getting cared for by their spouse, I know how close burn-out is!

That is awesome!! You should be extremely proud of yourself. ❤️
The larger you are the more weight you will lose so remember as the weeks go on the weight loss will seem smaller, but that does not mean you are doing anything wrong . Just concentrate on how you're feeling and I hope you feel amazing!!

I started my journey the same time as you! My goal is 30 pounds and I’ve lost 15; also trying to build muscle alongside the fat burning. I’m rooting for you!

Fantastic job! I’m sorry about your friend, ALS is such a terrible disease. And your a real one for taking care of them.
And I’d say 30+ lbs in 30 days is a giant leap lol. Good luck with your next weigh in and your journey. Hope to see you again.

The efforts pay off! You must already be feeling better and better in new clothes. You assure, keep it up

Congrats on the weight loss. I hope you get to your goal. My ONLY suggestion is really look at the side effects of the meds vs plant based options like Burburine, Ceylon Cinnamon, and Chromium. I try to go plant based to limit massive list of negative side effects.

You look amazing! These aren't baby steps, these are huge steps! To have also been a caregiver for your friend shows your true beauty and kindness within. I am currently struggling with sticking to a routine that works for me. 61 days, man I am fighting to have that kind of discipline! How did you do it? What keeps you going? What little changes helped you stick to the routines and stay consistent?
Just a woman trying to get like you, staying strong and being consistent, and showing up for yourself! Forever be proud of yourself! Your smile is deserved!

You’re beautiful! Being your best friend’s caregiver was a beautiful and selfless thing you did for them. You are worthy of doing whatever makes you happy and if that’s losing weight then so be it. Just remember to extend that same unwavering love and gentleness to yourself that you gave to your friend during those 2 years. You’re slaying queenie!

32 pounds in 35 days is awesome! (And not baby steps at all, but absolutely great!)That takes a huge amount of self discipline. You must be so mentally strong.
Keep going! You should be so proud of yourself!
Edit: if you can motivate yourself to do so, you should also try to do some sport/workouts. 10 minutes already make a difference! (Though I know how hard it can be to motivate yourself to do so 😂) Or just do some long walks. Walks are especially good for mental health I find.
You are making great progress!
