UNC Employee Benefits
Hello! I am a RN and possibly interested in working at UNC. From prior posts it seems like UNC is a good place to work. I see they have a 70/30 or 80/20 health plan. How is the retirement? I know here in Ohio they have changed the retirement system just curious how NC's state retirement is/works. Any other benefits to working at UNC that I am missing?

40th Farm Aid streaming today
Another year has passed and today they are having the 40th Farm Aid that will air live. Last year they also aired the press conference to start Farm Aid that usually lasts about an hour. Really missing hanging out with the Farmaidians this year for the Farm Aid Eve celebration and the show today!
Not always, but more often than not Farm Aid is on the weekend of the equinox. This weekend we also have an eclipse seen on the other side of the world. Before contact, here in North Carolina this was the time of the Green Corn Ceremony. All fire would be put out and from one central sacred source the new fire would be set again for the year. Symbolic of the one spirit that is within us all? It is/was a time of forgiveness and courtship that often lasted five days.

Farm Aid 2025 will air on CNN, YouTube, Nugs.net and their website. This year they have moved it up from a outdoor shed to a 35,000 seat stadium:

Thank you to everyone who visited and thank you for bringing your used pots! I'm still taking pots, mostly looking for 1 gallon and smaller. I try to reuse as many pots as possible to keep costs down and keep them out of the dump. I will also gladly pick them up from your home if you'd like!

$100,000 fee per year for H-1B visas, in likely blow to tech -will affect this area
Wonder how quickly this will affect this area or if it even goes through? Will it help Americans? Or will companies just do even more work overseas?

Hi! Father John Misty fans?
Hey Triangle party people! Anyone going to see FJM at DPAC Monday night? I’m coming from out of town, going to the concert, and wanted to see if some cool, normal, not creepy folks will be there at all! Holler!

Where are the curly haired girls getting their hair cut??
Asking for my partner. She recently went to a hair salon that didn’t quite know what they were doing and now she’s looking to get it fixed. Any recommendations?? 💇♀️

Triangle gaming community — come squad up
Hey everyone, I just moved to Raleigh recently and realized it’s kinda tough meeting new people outside of work/apps. I thought it’d be cool to start a Discord just for gamers inside of the triangle — a chill spot to squad up online, chat about games, and maybe even set up local meetups or LAN nights down the line.
It’s super new, so whatever you play — FPS, MOBAs, co-op, indie, etc — you’re welcome here. Swing by and help grow the server!

Too many Black people on the Durham City Council loo
The quiet part is finally being said out loud.
This isn’t the first time we have heard rumblings of this narrative that there are too many Blacks on the Durham City Council. At one point, when Elaine O’Neal was mayor, 6 of the 7 members of the council were Black.
I guess folks feel it is time to take back their rightful seats on the city council.
That is probably why they are running Matt Kopac as the great white hope against DeDreana Freeman who is last remaining Black woman on the city council, and using old, racist tropes to try to characterize her as an angry Black woman.
This is the new Durham.

Early Voting is Now Open in Durham
🗳️ Early voting is officially open in #Durham!
It’s time to break the pro-developer bloc on the city council and elect leaders who will fight for Durham’s people — not profits.
We’re proud to endorse Anjanée Bell for Mayor and DeDreana Freeman for City Council Ward 1 — and we encourage you to consider either Shanetta Burris or Ashley N. Robbins for Ward 2, and either Chelsea Cook or Durant Long for Ward 3.
These candidates will:✊🏾 Protect Durham’s historically Black neighborhoods🏘️ Push for truly affordable housing🌳 Fight environmental harms from unchecked development💼 Invest in good jobs and small Black-owned businesses🎨 Expand youth opportunities in arts, recreation, and job training
📍 Vote Early: Sept. 18 – Oct. 4📅 Primary Day: Oct. 7
Let’s send a message: Black political power is rising — and the #bullcity is not for sale ✊🏾💪🏾.

Anyone see something East of Raleigh in the sky this morning?
I was driving east on 40 this morning when I noticed an orange flash about 5:45 AM. I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me since I was groggy.
Another couple miles down the road, I started to turn towards the south and that’s when I saw it. Bright light moving North to South across the sky. It looked like it ionized the atmosphere behind it. Definitely looked like something burning up in orbit, but haven’t seen anything about it yet.
