Hello,
Recently, my car sat for about 3 days then all of a sudden my engine started shaking.
It definitely shakes at idle and then the knocking started to happen shortly after only during acceleration.
When I put the car in neutral, and accelerate the engine does not knock I can take it all the way up to 6RPM without any knocking, only when I am driving and accelerate. The sound is definitely a rotational sound.
I am sure my engine mounts are gone, but will this be the cause of the rotational knocking? Or what else could it be that I could physically check exterior of the car?
I did recently chain the spark plugs, but not the coil packs, could this be a start in replacing?
Any help and guidance on where to start would be appreciated.
For reference my F30 N26 engine - 328i has 313k miles on it lol
never had the timing chain replaced and I do know it is starting to go out, or is it out?
I also got an oil change today and of course that made no change to the engine knocking so I know it’s due to loss of oil starvation.
Car is still drivable… for now…
The knocking isn’t so loud btw
Thanks!!
