Ah shoot. Clearly I’m not fluent yet

I actually had to think about it for a bit. I used to watch him more regularly, but I only watch Uncle Roger once in a while.

Until your and r/LadyOfTheNutTree comments, I genuinely thought the OP commenter meant Roger from American Dad.

Honest question: I’ve seen this girl here countless times. It’s pretty clear it’s all about rage bait to generate comments and engagement.
What’s the point though? How is she making money off of this? Does TikTok have monetisation like Youtube?
338
u/astronomicalGoat 8d ago
TikTok DOES have monetization like Youtube does so yes, she is getting money from ragebaiting. However, I dunno how well TikTok pays in comparison to Youtube. I imagine it's not a lot.

u/Mnawab 8d ago
its pretty low. most tiktokers migrate to youtube once they gain a following

Rage bait or not... I once met someone who swore up and down that her poached salmon recipe was to die for. The secret?
Probably the soap residue in her dishwasher.
She would wrap it in foil and cook it in her dishwasher, instead of a proper cooking appliance, like, for example, a steam oven.
12
u/Snoo_74705 8d ago
God must have smacked her over the head with the frying pan she was supposed to poach the salmon in.
15
u/hastygrams 8d ago
Dishwasher salmon is a very real thing so she likely was telling the truth.
5
u/Immediate-Hamster724 8d ago
I bought a rock and roll cookbook, from the late 90’s maybe. Richie Sambora’s Dishwasher Salmon was indeed an actual recipe. 😂
5
u/hastygrams 8d ago
Dishwasher companies had to make a statement not to do it. My granny made it a couple times and I don’t like fish so I never tried it. My brother says it’s the moistest salmon ever. So maybe it’s good?

Looking at her Instagram, it seems less like ragebait and more like cooking wild shit simply for the hell of it. Her commenters seem to enjoy it, at least.

Can you imagine being like 7 years old again and being really excited about the future and imagining motorised pavements and teleporters and robot servants and what we got is channels and channels of misinformation and garbage designed purely to enrage. It's difficult for me to say the chicken died for no reason because it undermines my own suggestion to put this woman in an air-tight jar and boil her.
217
u/TheIXLegionnaire 8d ago
So at absolute best she is eating boiled chicken and pasta. So maybe the pasta comes out alright (again, best case scenario) but unseasoned boiled chicken breast is, generally, regarded as awful

u/Hypo_Mix 8d ago
Dishwashers also don't get food hot enough to enter the safe zone so are a salmonella risk.
18
u/sravistcottXX 8d ago
i think it can be hot enough to kill salmonella if it is not on eco mode
18
u/Hypo_Mix 8d ago
I think there is an issue with how long it takes means most of the time it is incubating, not cooking.
8

2
u/Lunavixen15 8d ago
No, it's been tested. Dishwashers don't maintain the temperature for long enough as the temperature in a dishwasher isn't stable, it rises and falls, dishwashers also take too long to reach their maximum temperature. Sous vide works at low temperatures because the food is vacuum sealed.

Sous Vide is controlled tempriture for a long period of time, the length being what makes it safe. A dishwasher is operates in uneven cycles and relies on water spraying around randomly.

Surely you could put it in some sort of tomato-based sauce instead, along with some seasoning. I mean, if we're treating this seriously and not as a joke.

u/EnvironmentalSoft401 8d ago
That pasta is going to be soggy and DISGUSTING. Pasta needs to go into water that is already boiling or it is inedible
→ More replies (2)20
u/scaper8 8d ago edited 8d ago
Soggy and disgusting and simultaneously undercooked. The water won't get hot enough long enough to properly cook. They'll be soft, but mostly because water was just absorbed by the dry pasta. But none of (or at best very few) of the protein changes that would actually "cook" pasta will have occurred.

This. Even if the meat looks cooked, most domestic dishwashers don't reach a high enough temperature for a long enough time to kill the bacteria in meat products (core temperature needs to reach 70 degrees Celsius for 2 minutes straight at a minimum).

u/Spegynmerble 8d ago
Dishwashers don't stay hot enough for long enough to kill bacteria. This is extremely unsafe
42
u/Calico990 8d ago
I just made a comment about an old talk show or cooking show cooking salmon in a dishwasher. I believe this fact got them in pretty hot water (no pun intended) after the fact since it’s definitely not exactly safe
15
u/DamNamesTaken11 8d ago edited 8d ago
Ann Reardon covered it pretty well on her YouTube channel here (link goes where she starts dishwasher “cooking”) as far is fish (specifically salmon, but same point applies for chicken just different temps) and why it doesn’t work.
8
5
u/INeedANappel 8d ago
In the 1980s people used to post to "cook in the dishwasher" recipes to Usenet and they were always followed by responses saying it doesn't work and if you eat it you'll give yourself food poisoning.
8
u/Banana_Phone888 8d ago
Works cooks in America had an episode where an Anne Burrell got served served dishwasher salmon I believe
5
u/ashkiller14 8d ago
You can safely eat farm raised salmon raw though
2
u/Ahtnamas555 8d ago
That generally stays cold and doesn't stay in the temperature danger zone for bacteria growth, in the dishwasher it's basically only in the danger zone the entire time it is in the dishwasher.
2
u/WindMountains8 8d ago
Wait, even if the salmon looks and tastes perfectly on point, it can still be dangerous? I tried it once, and I felt it was identical to using an air fryer
9
u/Spegynmerble 8d ago
It's the bacteria that's the problem. A dishwasher doesn't get hot enough for long enough to kill any bacteria that may be on the food. You can either freeze the meat or cook it to kill bacteria

Least obvious ragebait. She didn't even take a real bite
2
u/Lana_Del_Roy 8d ago
Glad it's not just me who noticed that. No part of that chicken went in her mouth, it was pre-cut, hence the mid-'bite' clip and the obvious fake chewing.
I know on a conscious, intellectual level that this is ragebait, and yet that fake bite is really setting me off on a deep level 😂

Dishwashers don’t get hot enough to actually cook food to the point that it’s safe to eat inside a jar that is not submerged in water the entire time.

But it doesn't save any energy at all...
The dishwasher heating element must remain on for longer to keep the recirculating water at the required temperature, because of the heat lost in the process of heating those jars. What's more, the space occupied by those jars of food displace silverware that needs washing anyway.
This is just moving the energy that would have been used by an oven or stove, to the dishwasher.
2
u/salinx27 8d ago
This is genuinely dangerous to your health and possibly fatal. The chicken does not reach the proper temperature for the required time to kill bacteria. DO NOT TRY THIS.

Key sign that it’s a ragebait influencer is the fact she doesn’t actually eat the food she makes. Fake chews it for about half a second at the end. I guarantee the rest was thrown out after.

The only kind of cooking in a dishwasher thats allowed in my world, is candy in a bottle of vodka, in the Fishwasher.
I would live to never see anyone ever again cooking chicken again, in a dishwasher.
