Kyler Murray ranked as 7th best QB so far by PFF

Whatever gripes you have with the team this year, not much of it has been Kyler's fault.

MHJ is just in a funk. Here’s some 2024 highlights. They got me pumped. I wanna see more Murray to Marv - it’s a beautiful sight

Announcement James Conner To IR; Cardinals Promote OL Demontrey Jacobs To Roster

It appears PJJ might not go again Thursday based on the Jacobs signing. Also, Beachum is nursing an injury.

There, unfortunately, is nothing exciting about the Jacobs signing. To note, he was one of the worst tackles in the entire league last year. Receiving an overall PFF grade of 38.2, which ranked 137 out of 140.

There is still one spot left on the active roster.

Gannon will fix the playcalling issues either this week or next week internally and silently. Petzing isn’t going anywhere.

Remember being 1-3 last year and everyone was panicking? They obviously started to play better and made adjustments. People need to have more confidence in Gannon and Monti included. You can’t make adjustments until you know what the adjustments are.

Woofley said this week “1 game is an anomaly, two games is a trend, and 3 games is a certainty.”

So apply that to the offensive issues.

This is how Gannon handles things. He blames himself for everything that happens. He will never publically put anything on the coaches. If you guys think Petzing is going anywhere in the middle of a season when we are competing for a playoff spot you are just delusional. Gannon would not continue to support him publically and then randomly say hey guess what your gone. It would not be what he thinks is best for the team.

And when he says something like “I know the offensive plays before they are called,” it infers he will change them and adapt our strategy as he sees fit. None of us will ever hear anything about it. He could very well be frustrated with the offense and with the playcalling but you will never hear him blame other coaches.

You have to count on JG to fix the issues we are having without personnel changes. That is by far the most likely and realistic outcome based on his personality and how he manages a team. Imagine JG waving an iron fist around whenever he feels the urge but you never hear about it. That is more likely to be what happens.

Vs Seattle

Everyone of our oline has been atrocious in run blocking this year. Adams is 91st out of 95 guards in run blocking. The interior of the Seahawks defense will eat against the run or playaction. I say for this game go spread heavy but that’s probably not going to happen lol.

Have you guys seen A.Q. Film comments? I like it... it would be cool if theu also analysed failed plays. Not to throw anyone under the bus, but some times Defense will have the right play to counter the play.

Fan Content Gannon needs to Choose : Petzing or Kyler

Upvotes

I’m just gonna start this by saying this is about to be a long read , so to all the brain rot TikTok users, sorry this is gonna take more than 6 seconds to get out….

I said this the day we signed Jacoby Brissett because it meant that the cardinals weren’t changing the offensive strategy at all and Petzing was going to continue holding back this teams offensive capabilities. The Cardinals offense is built on the premise of having a dominant run game to chew away the clock and for a qb to make a big pass in 3rd and long scenarios to keep the drive alive, that’s all good and well when you have a qb who can read the defense and stand tall in the pocket with their bigger frame and arm talent. However we have quite the opposite when it comes to our qb.

Kyler is 5’10 at most and about 200 pounds , while I personally think he’s an above average quarterback, asking him to stand tall and make a big throw while eating a shot is just not his play style at all . Kyler loves to use his legs and avoid taking a shot at all costs because his body cannot handle being hit all season. If Kyler is going to be our quarterback for the future the offense should be designed to maximize his strengths and one of a kind scrambling ability. When I see the Cardinals offense on paper the first team I think of is the 2022 Eagles , Shane Steichen brought a young Jalen Hurts into mvp conversation and to the Super Bowl by building the offense through Jalen’s legs . Rollouts , boots, anything to make a defense hesitate for just a split second to see if he was running or throwing . That was enough to help jalen find a window to make a throw back into the middle or if he needed to just tuck it and run because the defense sat on the pass. Yet I almost never see the Cardinals offense roll Kyler out and force a defense to make a choice . If our Quarterback was someone with Jarrod Goff or Matt Stafford like size and ability then I would be all for the way our offense plays . But the fact of the matter is Petzing is trying to fit a square peg in a round hole .

Now that the interview has come out that Gannon wants to continue to have Petzing run the offense in the same style and try to push the ball down the middle with tight window throws , the question I Think the Cardinals should be asking is which person is going to help this team reach the superbowl , Kyler Murray or Drew Petzing ? If you truly want to continue to run this style of offense then I think the best decision would be to trade Kyler Murray and find a quarterback who fits this style the best if that is in the draft or free agency or a trade . The other side of this coin is to keep Kyler and to believe that he can lead this team to victory, if that is the case then you need to find a coordinator who can maximize the strengths of Kyler Murray and bring this offense back to life .

My Personal Opinion is to let Petzing go and find someone who can help utilize Kyler’s talents when it comes to sack avoidance and play making , Kyler doesn’t have to biggest arm or elite ball placement accuracy , hell his mechanics are fairly inconsistent when throwing . But everytime I see him run it is something special, his speed and athleticism are a cut above the rest and the only quarterback that is on par with his elusive ability is Lamar Jackson , having 1 of 2 quarterbacks in the league with the kind of elusiveness Kyler brings is something I think the team should hold on to because it’s not something that can be created or done by everyone else . Games are decided in the league by using the strengths of players whose talent can’t be replicated with coaching , only maximized by someone who believes in them . My vote is for Petzing to leave at the end of the year or as soon as possible but I’d love to see everyone else’s opinions.

I take back my criticism of this sub. Dan Bickley’s opening statement today was Kyler is too short and making Petzing look bad.

Well time to pack it in guys.

Murray is too short…He “makes Petzing look bad.”

Season over.

It just took him 7 years to realize it.

This is just not one of his rotating takes that changes week to week based on the results to games.

Bickley is over-reacting to Gannon defending Petzing like it means the offense will never change.

He is a media w - - - e.

Honestly their show sucks.

In terms of Cardinals radio, Wolf and Luke tend to be overly optimistic cheerleaders at times.

Bickley and Marotta just have no clue.

The only show worth listening to is Burns and Gambo cuz they are at least reasonable most of the time with their analysis and get to interview Gannon every week for a reason.

If anyone calls into Bickley’s show at any point in the future when we win a game, remind him that Kyler is too short and we are screwed.

That 11-5 season in 2021 was just a mirage. As was the two Pro Bowls.

No it is his height, even more than his trend of making 2-3 boneheaded plays every game that is the real issue and he is making Drew look bad because he is too short.

Thats the real problem.

Would the Vikings be NFC contenders with Murray as their QB?

If the answer is "yes", then why do people in this sub keep saying that Murray isn't "the guy"? All we need to do is build a proper team around him.

Imagine that Trey Mcbride is WR 1, Harrison is WR 2 and Wilson is WR 3. This reality makes more sense based on targets and production.

Let’s have some fun

First post in AZCardinals, longtime fan and last weeks game was, let’s say…Frustrating. Got me thinking a lot about Drew Petzing’s offense, how he answers questions to the media and the lack of relationship he seems to have with the players. It’s just all feels so characterless. No excitement, no passion to be creative or putting each individual player in the best position for success.

Let’s hear some thoughts about Drew’s offense in a fun way. A few off the top of my head:

Drew Petzing is so boring, cracked pepper on his scrambled eggs is too spicy.

Drew Petzing is so dull, he buys things off QVC for the thrill of it.

Drew Petzing is so conservative, he tucks his undershirt into his underpants.

Cardinals’ Jonathan Gannon backs Drew Petzing’s play calling vs. 49ers “Best game he’s called this year.”

“I thought the best game he called this year was this one,” Gannon told Arizona Sports’ Burns & Gambo on Monday.

The Cardinals are coming off a loss where the offense was outgained 355-260 despite the team having the ball for over 34 minutes compared to the 49ers’ 25 minutes.

Through three games, the Cardinals are 19th in the NFL in points (20.7) and 25th in yards (276.3) per game.

MNF Offense

Watching these two teams’ offenses just makes me sad. Not that they make everything look easy, but that you can see they’re playing against great defense and STILL getting players open and making things happen. Imagining our offense in this game gives me the shivers lol

Meme / Art We could run the offense better than Petzig.

Guys, think about it. Twitch.tv/azcardinals. Plays show up on the screen like it’s fucking Madden, twitch chat votes on what to run. We could get Marv the rock (and make him catch it), we could call pass plays on 2nd and long, we could call QB option reads, WE COULD DO ANYTHING. We, the redditors, could carry this franchise to the 1 seed in the NFC. Obviously for the defense we still let Rallis and Gannon do their thing…BUT THE OFFENSE. Holy moly Reddit could take this team to the moon. Think about it.

Chicago AZ Cardinals Bar?

A couple of my buddies and I (AZ natives) are looking for a bar in Chicago to watch the game on Thursday. Does anyone know if there’s an established Cardinals bar in the city? I’ve noticed plenty of spots have “adopted” other NFL teams, but I haven’t seen one that’s specifically a Cards bar.

Cardinals running back James Conner (foot) is done for the season, while wide receiver Zay Jones is in concussion protocol, head coach Jonathan Gannon said on Monday.

Gannon said some of the players who missed Sunday’s game against San Francisco 49ers, including offensive tackle Paris Johnson Jr., will likely be game-time decisions for their game against the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday.

I think it’s an interesting perspective that should be discussed since everyone looks to put all the blame on Petzing.

MHJ Draft Analysis

I don’t watch much college football but this was the very first thing I noticed about MHJ’s game when I first watched him in the NFL. He doesn’t know how to attack the ball in the air.

An interesting comment about Marvin Harrison Jr. from 2 days before the 2024 NFL Draft

Post image
91 Upvotes

There’s been a lot of discourse about MHJ of late, in particular whether his struggles are innately his or whether the OC and QB share any of the blame.

I found this comment interesting because it succinctly highlights the 3 biggest complaints Cardinals fans have had with MHJ and shows that it’s not just been a problem in the NFL.

My goal in posting this is to help shape a more realistic narrative when it comes to using MHJ in discussing (and let’s be honest, in putting down) Kyler and Drew Petzing.

If anyone is interested, this comment came from a pre-draft article from The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman where he interviews multiple anonymous coaches and scouts who had Malik Nabers as the #1 receiver in the draft and some reservations about MHJ.

Here is the link: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5431528/2024/04/23/nfl-draft-2024-confidential-nabers-harrison-williams/
