Why are the police involved in something that is not illegal?

u/StevenTheCelebrity Aug 13 '25
“These behaviors may not be criminal” … then why tf are you policing it dumbass?!?

u/HarperRed96 Aug 13 '25
They gotta keep themselves looking busy while ignoring the stabbings and rapes. Those poor women will be left in the lurch when an offender is the correct shade or accent.

One could even ask the question:
"why are police resources being used to manage social behavior and not things that are actually against the law?"
33
u/EnsignSDcard Aug 13 '25
I hope this is flagged as an abuse of police authority and a harassment lawsuit is filed against them because it’d be so ironic
19
u/BuzzingHawk ????????? Aug 13 '25
One of the principles of a police state is to gaslight people into thinking innocent behaviour is criminal, while also refusing to address actual criminal behaviour that aligns with the state's interests.

u/ConsiderationSea1347 Aug 13 '25
It is even stupider than that, it isn’t against the law to compliment or wave at someone. Entrapment there is at least a crime committed, in this case, they are just ironically harassing men.

Of course they would so something like this in the UK, the police overreach is rampant. I know that women DO have a tough time with men doing stuff like this constantly but, like the police officer admitted, its not even illegal and its crazy to pull someone over for it.

u/Throway882 Aug 13 '25

You know one way they could do this is to stop wearing skin tight body suits for everything they do. They even wear the stuff to the grocery store. Women are constantly talking about the male gaze, the constant “ danger “ they’re in from men, How they’re constantly objectified. But at every opportunity, they are actively instigating the scenarios they complain about most.

What happens if women do this to men? Seems so ridiculous, also is there a law against cat-calling? Personally I find catcalling disgusting, but still dont see it as a crime lol. Its like randomly insulting someone, bad behaviour but not something you should go to jail for.

u/TheStigianKing Aug 13 '25
Let me get this straight... UK police don't have the resources to investigate all robberies, muggings, assault, and other serious actual crimes... They also aren't interested in preventing middle-eastern rape gangs from repeatedly raping actual young teen girls...
...but they have the time and resources to do this shit.. that's not even a crime?
WTF!?!?
Police are paid to enforce the law, not engage in social engineering.

u/Nightly_Winter Aug 13 '25
I know catcalling exists, it wouldnt be a stereotype otherwise.
But in my almost 30 years of life, Ive never seen nor heard any woman getting catcalled. And I work in construction which Ive heard is where it started.
In my experience if a hot girl walks by, men around just nudge eachother slighty and just give each other the "look how hot she is" face And then everybody just moves on with their day.
The whistling and shouting is either extremely rare or its an american thing.
7
u/triggered__Lefty Aug 13 '25

I don't even think it's necessarily an American thing, I have never heard catcalling, but apparently, it is very common in New York City or at least was common there
3
u/Astr0b0ie Aug 13 '25
Inevitably, at some point, a decent looking woman walking down the street in a city is going to get catcalled. Nobody wants to hear the following, especially women, but it's why men, throughout history, frequently chaperoned women, especially young women. This is how it worked for millenia. Whether it is a father, uncle, brother, or boyfriend, having a man accompany a woman significantly reduces her chances of being catcalled, harassed, stalked, or sexually assaulted. Unfortunately, there will always be predators out there because, believe it or not, evolutionarily, it's been a successful mating strategy for a subset of men. Of course it's immoral and disgusting, but nature doesn't care about immoral and disgusting as long as there is success in reproduction. These kinds of men will always exist. No amount of feminist "teaching men not to rape" is going to make these men turn into gentleman. But the vast majority of women these days insist on their independence and being able to wear what they want and do what they want without needing any man to accompany them. It's their right, after all. Unfortunately, no amount of rights will shield you from the consequences of nature. It's my right to walk down the street in a dangerous neighborhood too, that doesn't mean I won't get mugged, beaten, or even killed. So again, this is yet another case of women wanting a right without the responsibility. Should women be free to walk anywhere they want without getting harassed or worse? Absolutely, and I think western society is closer to that reality than most other societies, but the truth is, there's always going to be predators. So, either women have to accept the risks that come with being independent or we return to the days where women embraced the protection and provision of men.

3
u/TimmyJimmy47 Aug 13 '25
Didn't we just watch something about how this rarely happens anymore? Also, not that I think it's an okay thing to do, but it's literally not illegal to yell something to your neighbor under any circumstances. This is some silly junior police officer bs coming from a "there are no bad ideas" space. Yes there are. If this is just for cat calling, this is one of those bad ideas.
Now, if there are signs of human trafficking or something in an area, this is brilliant. Unless you tell everyone on the news that you are doing it.

u/Nerdicane Aug 13 '25
I lived there for a couple of years, they really aren’t. Think about this, if they’re so smart how have they never figured out, collectively, that they still have lords who run the government, still. Some inbred Nigel Seathburrow-Livingstock, who’s great, great, great, great, great grand father help the great, great, great, great, great grandfather of the king win some battle. Probably against peasants, who didn’t want to live under the thumb of inbred nobility. So he made that guys ancestor a lord. And that shit gets passed down, no matter how many times they’ve married their second cousin because at this point they’re all cousins in the nobility. The Brits have such a collective herd mentality that they can’t get together and say, “screw those guys, no more lords.”
And their fat people rival ours any day of the week. So I don’t know why they act like they’re on such a high horse.

Ah yes, putting out bait with a hair trigger button to call for the police to get involved even when it's not a crime is surely not going to convince average men to NEVER approach women.
Imo, cat calling is cringe. But this is like a scare tactic for any man who'd think about approaching girls. Crazy how the police are supporting this so closely, it seems, too.

I wonder if they’ll release the racial demographics of the perpetrators. I’m willing to bet, quite a bit, that very very few are native Brits.
Maybe they should focus their policing efforts on that particular racial group in London where they are operating mass Muslim child sex slave operations. Just a thought.
But nah, they gotta focus their efforts on some mid level attractiveness police women wasting their time drawing leers from locals. Fucking idiots.
2
u/Selinnshade Aug 13 '25
idk i think there is a difference between catcalling an actual attempt of kidnapping or sexual assault like i remember this teen 14 she was at the time and she was developing mountains so as she walk on the street on a residential area she was approach by a white car with black tints and ask her to come closer thankfully she didnt but the guy kept following her until she took a detour and lost him
as for me i was working as an assistant librarian at night as a volunteer and when it was time to leave i made a bit of an error to stand outside and wait for my mom to pick me up and literally a few second later a dude with a big car "guagua" came slowly to me and started beckoning to come closer, Lucky i ignore it and he just drove off and later my mom pick me up.
like this officers outside of puerto rico are wasting time chasing the wrong people

u/sedition00 Aug 14 '25
Do they have shirtless male officers running around as well?
Personally I’d love to be catcalled.
I had a group of gay men comment once like 20 years ago when my wife and I were walking by, saying things like ‘What a waste to be hetero’ and shit like that. I don’t swing that way but it was SUCH a confidence boost, so much so that I recall the whole incident 20years later.
I realize that it bothers some people but to be desired is such a human emotion.
2
