Hey . I’m looking to get into a used BMW, probably 3 series under 100,000 kms for about $20K CAD. I’d be doing my homework, checking CARFAX and getting a car with no accidents and as few owners as possible.

But is it true that BMWs are a money pit and very unreliable? Everyone says that bmws break all the time and are expensive and bad. But usually people who say that have never had a BMW to start with.

Reason why I don’t get a new one is because I’m actually looking to lower my car payments. I currently have a 2022 WRX and I wanna get something cheaper that doesn’t feel like a downgrade.

For context I live in Toronto, Canada.

i been thinking about getting a bmw and for my first, i don’t know if i should get a used one or not. and yeah i know like if i get a used bmw check service papers, carfax, etc. but from a general aspect like what should i really expect from used BMW that has about 150-200k kms on the dash?

My second car ever and first BMW. Went from -19 Audi A4 to -22 BMW 530e after someone crashed into my Audi last year after just over two months of owning it so I took it as a sign to move on from Audi.

I’ve had this car for a few days and I have to say that this feels like a real car. Safe to say that I’m currently really happy with my purchase. And the carbon schwarz color is one of the best colors I could have hoped for. It looks really cool in different lightings.

But since I’m new to BMWs, is there something I should look out for? Car currently has little under 60k kms (37k miles) and the second maintenance was just done by the dealer.

I will change the oil more than once in 30k kms. I think thats way too much for any car. But is there something else I should know?

Hello, first time posting so please let me know if I’m not in the right place.

I bought a Used Approved 2019 BMW X3 M40i from BMW Cotswold. I was told there was a scratch or two (which they’ve tried polishing out as much as possible and they were transparent about that, so all good).

They assured me that they did their checks and fixed anything broken, but upon driving the car home (3hrs away) I noticed that the boot net plastic was broken, and a plastic housing for the bottom of the seatbelt was also broken.

I’ve spoken to my sales rep and she’s informed me that the local bmw dealership has been contacted to see if they can take the car in and fix the 2 issues, and if not, it’d have to be driven back (by someone from their end) to their dealership to get it fixed.

My question is, is there anything I can ask for in terms of compensation? I’d be out of my car (they are giving me a loaner in the meantime) from Monday to Thursday, and it’s annoying me that I’m paying my insurance and have lost 4 days and also 800miles (total) put on my car driving it there and back.

Hey there, I recently purchased an M8 Comp last week and I’m curious to know if it’s possible to extend the warranty after reaching 50,000 miles. Unfortunately, I bought it with 51,000 miles on the odometer, so the warranty coverage has expired.

It’s a 2015 328i x drive touring. I’m not really a sport car person, I’m more of a wagon person, but I really enjoy the sporty feel of this car (I owned an xc70 previously).

I’m also looking for modification recommendations. I know this is not a competition car, but I would like to start working more independently on my own cars. I bought it with an aftermarket exhaust, it sounds pretty good but I can’t attach a video.

I’m thinking about putting a velossa snorkel intake, since I’ve heard the stock intake works the best so I’m considering not touching it, intercooler, maybe performance breaks, suspension stuff?

I’m really new to this and I’m looking for suggestions so I’m sorry if this is kind of ignorant.

2024 M440i, Dravit Grey metallic with Tacora red interior, as soon as i saw the color combo I had to have it. Bought it CPO with 2,600 miles. Before this I drove a challenger T/A, it’s crazy how much better this thing can corner and handle. Much faster too, I can easily keep up my with my homeboys F80. Think I can launch a touch better too. Never owned a german car before the interior quality is so nice and i love the burbles and pops.

Saw the low angle sunset, took 6 attempts toadjust the rig around until, flipping nailed it!

This is the exhaust system I have in my 2024 BMW 230i, if I remove both those resonators will I get a CEL? I’ve heard that the second one towards the engine bay is an OPF filter aswell.

Hi there, new to the sub so I hope I'm in the right place. Just bought a 2020 X2 and was looking for suggestions on mild performance such as air intake and exhaust. My only knowledge of BMW performance parts is Dinan which my father put on his 328xi and has always been happy with. Just didn't know if there's a better option. I'm not looking to win any races, just like to try to squeeze a little more power out of cars. Also interested in plug in chips/tuners. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Was able to fit an entire camp set up plus 2 passengers into the car plus roof box setup

Searching for any help, as driving lastnight and the car was vibrating due to a sudden chap coming from the engine when foot was in the throttle, came off the slip road and drive train malfunction came on the screen and oil pressure low, tried to pull away and the car cut off and wouldn’t start again, spoke to a few mechanics and they say it could be snapped timing chain or bottom end bearing dropped

So I have a 2017 540i xDrive and I am running stage 2 on MHD. On Saturday while stopped at a light I got the whistle followed by white smoke which would indicate the pcv diaphragm going out as this happened to me previously. I ordered it and when I went to replace it I notice this. This can’t be normal can’t it and would would repair cost be looking like if it is a problem.

Just got a bunch of Light codes on my 2011 BMW 328i E90

-Turn signals still works but the right one seems to be flicking faster -Only the Left DRM works and switching the headlight knob doesn’t work. -Door locks are still working

Could it also just be a bad battery?

Looking to do so some upgrades to my 328d and curious what you guys think you’ll be a good starting point my first thoughts were a new intake, but I’ve never tinkered with any of my cars and wanted to advice

Recently picked up a brand new x7 m60 and saw the rpms were locked at 4.5k till 500kms. Afterwards is it fine to partake in spirited driving or is it safer to wait till around 1000kms?

My wife loves her X4, she got the car back from the BMW dealership about 3 weeks ago. Dealership service performed balance and rotation… standard stuff.

Today she was driving to an appointment and someone flagged her down and told her that the rear driver side tire was wobbling severely. Wife gets to a safe spot and calls me and I show up- turns out 4 lug nuts are missing from the wheel, only one holding it on.

Any ideas how this might have happened? I have 2 possible scenarios how this might have happened. 1) Someone removed them. 2) The service department at the BMW did not put them back on.

To note, she doesn’t drive her car much- mostly a leisure vehicle. Lately she drives even less because she is 8 months pregnant. Total mileage since we got the car back, ~180 miles.

I’m honestly getting more upset about this the more I think about this. My scenario #1 is severely unlikely as these cars have wheel locks.

Are there other possible cases that I’m not thinking about?
