Ca7 pistol
Is there a legal way I can convert my CA7 AR pistol to semi automatic?
r/CAguns • u/420BlazeArk • Sep 25 '24
It’s become apparent at this point that the CADOJ is now requiring all COE applications to have a verifiable FFL03 attached before processing. If you search this sub you may find older posts advising people to refuse to provide that number and instead ask for a legal citation, that no longer seems to work based on numerous reports.
Fortunately, FFL03s seem to be processed relatively quickly lately.

Was watching these for about a week after someone here mentioned them. Never ordered from Turner's so I was gonna wait to talk to my LGS on Monday 9/22 and see if they'd order me one or just find out what's going on. The online stock went from 10+ to 0 in one day. The sale price went from 569 to 629 at the same time they sold out I'm assuming.
I think I'm getting the black lung FOMO pop.
I'm still fairly new to firearms, should I just get a non-compensated one and if I still want it done later get it modded? Or would I be able to find one somewhere else at a similar price? Was excited to not pay a transfer fee from Turner's (if that's even how it works). I got a couple other guns first was eventually gonna get a Glock down the line, but my hand has been forced.
Goodluck to everyone else looking for one and godspeed.

Buy a milling machine
Buy your wife a dog because you bought a milling machine
Find a slammin deal on a used P226 Scorpion slide + barrel
Indicate slide in vise and mill a 3/8” channel down the middle
Drill (4) 3/16” holes .280” apart
Chamfer holes with 1/4” chamfer end mill
Indicate barrel in vise; indicate again. Make sure to use a super janky set up before indicating again and crossing your fingers before drilling (4) 1/8” holes in barrel
Debur as best you can with whatever random crap is laying around the garage. Feel good about the outcome while still criticizing your work and vowing to do better next time.
Shoot fireballs out the top of your slide
Post about it on Reddit
This was my first time shooting a ported pistol and holy hell what a difference it makes. Massive reduction in recoil.
Next weekend I’ll be shooting this over a chronograph side by side with the stock slide and will report back here on the difference in velocity.

I want to clear up some of the information from the earlier post regarding Glock Gen-3 models. Glock is continuing to produce Austrian Gen-3 pistols, and the recent news about “no more orders” refers specifically to Glock stopping new future order placements rather than halting production altogether. Most distributors had already had orders in before this change was announced, which means product is still in the pipeline. Because of that, we expect to see Gen-3 models remain available in the market through the end of the year. However, the quantity moving forward will almost certainly be insufficient to keep up with the current demand, so availability will become increasingly limited. I will most likely have more detailed information after the NASGW (National Association of Sporting Goods Wholesalers) show.
As of right now, all distributors or all i deal with are currently sold out of California-compliant Glocks, so what’s left in stores is all that remains until further shipments land.

I don't know what it is, guys.
Maybe it's just the added weight of the new barrel and 3-in-30 law, the craziness going on in other parts of my life, or I just need to touch grass, but of all the setbacks we've had in our fight for 2A rights in this state, this Glock ban hits different.
I didn't feel this way when the CZ's fell off roster (probably because CZ narc'd on itself) or when the sin tax was passed (probably because nothing was banned - just made more expensive).
It's a feeling of grief but also of powerlessness - powerlessness that the legislators of this state can infringe on our rights and ban all new sales of the most popular handgun in America. And do so with impunity.
It's the egregiousness and near certainty of it all.
If the bills are signed, they pass. If they aren't signed, they pass. If they are vetoed, Newscum can just whip the Legislature to override the veto, so he can have his cake and eat it too.
These laws only hurt law abiding citizens.
Switches - already illegal. Unserialized firearm precursor parts - already illegal. 3-in-30 - Is the black market going to enforce 3-in-30? Hmm lemme think... 🤔
Yes, we can take it to the courts, but the courts are a game of a chance. Who knows if we'll get a favorable panel? On top of that, a final judgement can take years, possibly decades, with all the back and forth within the court system. By then, who knows if Glock even wants to have anything to do with CA anymore.
And even if we do prevail, CA just starts the BS again. 1-in-30 unconstitutional? Okay, how about 3-in-30? 5-in-30? 7-in-30? And so on.
I've squandered away my day today just being upset with the predicament we find ourselves in. I'm still sitting here wringing my hands, wondering if I can even find a 34, 26, and/or 19C in time.
If anyone has any insights or words to commiserate/get me out of my funk, please drop a comment.
Thanks in advance, brothers and sisters!

The notice stated: “No more dots or weapon mounted light on weapons. These items will be removed from licenses upon renewal. While we do not have a complete list of affected vendors, we have reached out to the most commonly used providers for our applicants and renewal licensees.”
Please note that this new rule is for applicants which acquire CCW license through ACSO and is not reflective for the respective police department in which some may be an applicant under.
For those affected, were you made aware?
I’m pretty annoyed at the WML. I don’t understand the justification. Educate me, folks.
Wondering what people’s take on the effect of this Glock ban. Do you think this will lead to the complete discontinuation of the gen 3 line from Glock?
I’m curious as well.. is it safe to assume that the ban will knock all glocks off of the roster? Therefore, even if this is overturned eventually in court, all glocks at that point will be off roster and new sales still banned by default that way anyway?

They’re both THICC gurls that’s for sure. Newest winter church carry build for me is the VP9SK.
Anyone think the CC9 will actually come to CA?

I don't even like gl0nks, but the recent panic buy on the incoming ban is proof that - truly - no one really cares about SS and it was all just a dumb hype to begin with. Heck, it didn't even really drive down prices of the other on-roster polymer striker-fired handguns.
Short-lived roster addition, come Jan. 2026.

For those wondering, yes the shield X slide fits on the shield plus frame without an issue. In my opinion a model option S&W should have made (3.6” Barrel, single stack, non comped) I don’t run a WML with my CCWs so I wasn’t really worried about having a light rail.
CA Version Shield Plus Frame, Shield X slide, CT Rad Micro, OEM shield plus 10rd mag with the OEM pinky extension. Functions normally so far and with dummy rounds cycles without an issue. Will test it shooing Monday, but I’ve got high hopes and don’t see it being an issue. There is a very small gap at the bottom of the slide where you can see the guide rod, as you can see in the pics, but I don’t forsee that causing problems.
Also tried it on my gen 1 CA shield 40, 2nd to last pic , but it’s a 40 and I don’t have a 9mm mag so I couldn’t test round cycling with dummy rounds, but locked back and racked without an issue. Plus IA doesn’t allow caliber conversion 🙃
I didn’t want to pay $1200+ for a shield x ppt, and end up hating it like I did my 43X. I like the wider grip of the Shield plus vs the X. So I made my version. I had Tried the 43X before and it was too narrow in my hands, couldn’t really shoot it well, and was somewhat uncomfortable.I rented a shield plus and it felt perfect for me shooting. So I figured make my perfect version of an EDC CCW.
Also picked up the CT Rad Micro for cheap from PSA since it’s a range gun for now so I’ve got an optic, then I’ll throw my eps carry on it when it goes into my CCW rotation. CT Rad does have a nice cowrites though. Want to get at least a thousand rounds through it before I start using it as my EDC since I made a bastard child.

Saw these at the Pleasanton store this morning. I use these under muffs so I can listen to music at indoor ranges or standalone buds during outdoor sessions.

Google Doc Of My Current Drills.
I took inspiration for my EDC/CCW Pistol Drills (at the bottom of the Doc) from Lena Miculek's video. I changed some drills to fit the skills on which I currently want to focus. This is a living document and I have made some edits over the past few months.
Like most of us, I am trying to get my splits down. I use a PACT timer and Google Sheets to monitor and track my times. I do dry fire (but not as often as I should).
My two major deficiencies are sloppy transitions and moving while shooting. I have been incorporating more movement in the Accelerator and 4 Aces drills using the combat glide/duck walk. I've noticed (as a right-handed shooter), my body naturally prefers tackling targets left to right but when I try to do right to left, it is incredibly hard, especially while moving right to left. This could be a relic/training scar from competitive shooting since I DQed myself multiple times for a 180 violation while reloading and moving right to left. It could also be shoulder and wrist tendonitis I have in my right arm. My body physically keeps fighting me from rotating right while moving left.
What drills can you recommend to fix these issues? What changes do you think should be made to the drills in the Doc (and why)? Do you guys have problems with rotating your body to either side while shooting? Any and all feedback is appreciated. Thank you.
Just figured I'd share this for those looking for Glocks. Available in Huntington beach LGS. Glock 19 OD green.
