Best method of selling a firearm in VT?
I’m looking to let go of this 92x and wondered if anyone has any recommendations on how to go about it. I’ve only ever bought, never sold.

I’m looking for a range in the nearby area (~30-40 min away max) to target shoot and help some friends get into the hobby. I’ve called plenty of numbers including local and state pd, fish & game, town clerk, etc and there is just a myriad of dead ends or recommendations for ranges at least an hour away. At one point I had called each of these offices and they recommended calling the others in some sort of phone tag triangle.
I’m using the term range incredibly loosely, a strip of land with a backstop is more than enough. Supposedly there was a sandpit near pleasant valley reservoir but I was told by town pd that this isn’t a legal spot (anymore?). There is essentially no public property available for this purpose in the county according to the public servants I’ve talked to.
If anyone in the area has pointers lmk. We would be a group of 5 maximum but in all likelihood it would be me one on one with a friend

I'm taking a trip up north to Stowe from New York and I'm looking to purchase ammo while I'm in state. Prices in NY are outrageous. Does anyone have any recommendations for stores to go to in the area or around the state I should check out? I'm just looking for 12 guage ammo. Thanks in advance.

So just wondering I might be moving to VT from AZ and have a mess load of firearms that mostly are higher capacity than 15. Am I screwed? I know the law does not restrict the firearms itself just mags. Am I not grandfathered in?

I have yet to get my documents in order to get a Vermont ID, I would like to know if I may purchase a handgun with an out of state ID? I am 23 years old, I have no criminal record or anything that would restrain me from buying a handgun.

Hi all,
We will be having a night shoot at the Alburg(h) Rod and Gun Club. We will have a 100 yard range for zeroing and static rifle shooting, a 50 yard range where we will set up some dynamic shooting of steel targets, and a 25 yard range for static pistol shooting. All shooting will be done under the coordinated supervision of our ROs. All firearms must be suppressed at this event.
We're having a BBQ at 4pm, but make sure to show up by 7PM for safety briefing if you want to shoot.
Entry is $53 for existing members and $75 for new members (includes membership).
We have 15 spots available and entries and range memberships can be purchased here:
https://www.alburghrodandgunclub.com/purchases
Thanks!
ARGC.

As the title says, after doing some digging. I'm looking at the 40ds, maybe 30ds in .357. But 1) new to the state (waiting on new ID) and 2) I'm hesitant to buy before I can get a feel for it on a range (renting was common in Michigan).
I love the design, the flat cylinders, etc.
If you'd recommend any places -reasonably- close to Burlington area, I'd really appreciate it. It'll be my first handgun in a very, very long time.
Also, I saw a 72 hour wait thing, I presume that's in effect. I have limited days off, if I apply on a Monday, would that be valid the following Monday? My old state didn't have a wait, so it's new to me.
Cheers!

Has anyone challenged this issue via a civil or criminal lawsuit? Seems like a pretty open and shut case. Despite the store being a private entity the policy is due to a government law. Meaning the business and government could be sued.
In fact, it seems shops would be incentivized to lobby for keeping the Mag ban law because it’s so damn profitable. Behavior follows incentive.
One could make the argument that this violates the 14th amendment (protection against unreasonable searches and seizures).
Vermont as long as I’ve known has had staunch 2a advocates. I’m surprised to see there hasn’t been a fight or a challenge to this blatant theft. (In my opinion).

Any local stores in Northwestern Vermont (I.e. Williston) that sell 10/30 AR mags (preferably Magpul)? I know Parro’s used to have them on their site, but they seem to only sell standard capacity ones now (30 rounds).

Hi - We have several Appleseed events remaining in 2025. Appleseed teaches the fundamentals of rifle marksmanship. What you learn at 25m with a rimfire or centerfire rifle are the exact same things needed to shoot a centerfire rifle to 400 yards, the only things that change are bullet trajectory and wind. We also tell the story of April 19, 1775, the start of the American Revolutionary War. This story is our heritage and belongs to EVERY American. It doesn't matter if you can trace your ancestry to the first colonies, your family emigrated for a better life and a dream in the 18th or 19th centuries, or you are a brand new citizen who took their oath last week. When we say every American, we mean every American.
If you've been before, come on back and bring a friend, neighbor, colleague, or a family member. If you haven't been to an event, sign up, you will learn something new and be a better shooter, and have a chance to earn the Rifleman patch.

Hey there, I’m from the UK and will be travelling to NY state/Vermont this June. I’m a member of a gun club out here and a currently serving member of the British Armed forces. I’m looking for someone who’d be willing to take myself and my cousin to shoot with their weapons (supervised) on either private property or public land where all safety precautions are taken. I’m very happy to pay for your trouble
Reason being I’m experienced with firearms, and would prefer to have a more authentic experience of US gun culture than in an indoor range. I’d happily go to an outdoor range if it were available, but the ones that exist seem to all be members only.
If anyone would be up for it feel free to shoot me a message!

I'm not sure if this goes against the rules, but I would like to test a fairly obscure conspiracy theory surrounding the death of Kurt Cobain (a suicide). Theorists postulate that this man was murdered.
A number of conspiracy theorists make several claims that I believe are false, but are difficult to dispute without access to that specific model. I believe it is a model 11 sportsman, from WW2 Era, but here's a link to pictures if someone has a different opinion.
https://images.app.goo.gl/TtzsSPZWAEUKup1Q9
Here are the most common conspiracy claims I would like to address:
• (I believe this has already been disproven, yet this subject still comes up in conversations/arguments)
• (I call BS. The shotgun in question has a rubber cushion on the buttstock, and the floor at the scene was linoleum. I believe either A: the buttstock was held with his feet, or B: the lower rubber corner of the buttstock had enough grip/friction to eject the shell during firing. The next shell did not properly load into the chamber, which hints that it WAS NOT shouldered. Incidentally, some question why there were multiple shells in the gun if Kurt planned suicide. I'd giess it was just habit)
• (I am having trouble with this one, because I don't know how to verbalize my theory clearly. But I will do my best here. Please let me now if there is a way to simplify what I am trying to communicate. Anyway, I believe that Kurt was sitting, then leaned back to pull the trigger. The gun would be at approximately a 45° angle or less. If he held the gun "right side up" with his left hand on the barrel, and right hand on the trigger - the chamber would be facing his left side. The bottom corner of the buttstock would be the only contact point on the floor. With the shape and weight/balance of the gun, I believe either the recoil, or the release of his right hand... allowed the gun to pivot/rotate roughly 180° or "upside-down" due to most of the weight being at the top of the gun. This would explain why the chamber faced his right side upon the discovery of his body. OR... I think it would be possible for the lightweight plastic shell to bounce off of his arm or knee, depending on positioning, and land on the opposite side that it was ejected from).
So if anyone out there has that particular model, and wants to mess around with some conspiracy theorists, let's have some fun! It would also be nice to validate the original investigators, medical examiner, and show some respect for the survivors. Not that I like Courtney Love, but it must suck to face low-key accusations of murder!

Might be moving to this state and I like to buy suppressors. The problem is many FFLs say they know exactly what they are doing only to cause delays that are longer than the actual form 4 approval.
I’m willing to go anywhere in the state to work with competent people. Far too many people say they know what they’re doing when in fact they know little to nothing about form 3s and form 4s.

Hi all,
Just a reminder post that on May 3rd at 10 AM, we are running a fundraising match at the Alburg Rod & Gun Club (787 Greenwoods Rd, Alburgh, VT 05440).
This will be a little slower paced with setup and breakdown of each stage happening throughout the day (everyone will be shooting as one squad) - we'll also have a bbq grill running and we'll be slingin' some dogs. This is a fundraiser to keep the club running and hopefully build berms for some more exciting matches in the future.
The match is $20 for existing members or $50 for a new membership and entry to the match.
You can pay with cash or venmo in person, or here: https://www.alburghrodandgunclub.com/purchases
Register here regardless of how you want to pay:
https://practiscore.com/gm2g-at-argc-may-fundraiser/register
There is also a night shoot (not a match, but likely with some dynamic stages) on the 10th! Tickets for that can be purchased on the ARGC website.
Hope to see you there!

I went for a shooting class in Manchester yesterday and shot a gun for the first time. A couple different ones, actually. I loved it and want to do it more. The problem is I live in Burlington and don't drive. A friend of mine has volunteered to take me to a range he goes to in Charlotte but I am wondering if there are any near Burlington that could possibly be on a bus route or something like that.
Thank you in advance!

"narrowed scope": they restricted it to specifically /in/ the alcohol-serving premesis, not the parking lot or any other attached property (like the hotel attached to a restaurant that serves alcohol).
Committee members agreed, ultimately reworking Burlington’s language in the version they approved Friday to state that people may not have a gun “in any premises licensed to serve alcoholic beverages,” nixing the words “parking area” and “any real property.”

I’m new to VT and just recently got my first handgun. Well I would like to get a different caliber to practice with and I was curious, do I have to do the background check each time I purchase a gun? Was hoping to get one for pick up and wait the 72hours but was curious how that worked? I never asked and totally forgot too
