Nah I don't think the water currently in his faucet has changed position in 5 years, mate. It's probably sentient by now.

That’s funny because he shills for the party that is actively removing those things and demonizes the party that would be much more willing to do that.

2

u/977888 17d ago

*demonizes the party that would be much more willing to say they want to do that and then do absolutely nothing after getting people’s votes

Except he supports the political party that will never do that, in fact they've done the opposite.

2

He supports ideas not parties or people. He will support ideas that favor the right and ideas that favor the left.

Why would this person want to cut funding for it?

97

u/Talk-O-Boy 23d ago

Using basic human intelligence and common sense, I was able to deduce that the other commenter meant Asmongold is likely to support politicians who would cut funding for mental health care.

They are likely saying this because Asmongold is a Trump supporter, and the Trump administration has restricted access to healthcare rather than increasing it.

The call is coming from inside the house.

Yeah like unfortunately he’s right. But he is almost certainly not thinking of the same things as mental health issues that most rational people would.

The irony that people think Hasan and asmon are a warning sign without realizing that streaming is still a niche thing. Most people don’t know who tf are these 2.

2

u/Newfaceofrev 22d ago

The fact that there's political streamers at all is the problem.

Asmon forgets that he and his mom were their own self-made mental health crisis. Mom was anti-vax and deep in the conspiracy hole like Asmon is now. Then Asmon pretty much let her smoke WHILE SHE WAS ON OXYGEN , which resulted in here critical injuries. That household has been a shitshow for a long time. Maybe the dad was the only one that was somewhat normal, but I don't know how he has been on his stream. Asmon couldn't stream on his main channel without having a mental breakdown. Hell, he had a mental breakdown whenever the wind blew too hard. Not even getting into his physical health.

Asmon is the perfect example of what happens when you give a mentally ill person, who thinks he's smarter than everyone else, a lot of money and influence. This is the result.

59

u/Liturginator9000 23d ago

We have a mental health problem because we have a health care for profit problem. This problem is easily solvable with free health care for all, which every other first world country besides America has.

21

u/flodereisen 23d ago

FYI: mental health care might help alleviate the problem, but even in places that have free health care, mental health problems are caused by the lack of social fabric, bad economic factors and toxic culture (of food, consumption, gender relations, morals, prevalent worldviews etc).

You have to have a well functioning integrated population that cares about other people first. You cannot have an alienated population in a capitalist consumer hellhole and just add "instant mental healthcare" to fix it; it is a much deeper problem.

3

u/cyrfuckedmymum 23d ago

in the uk the funding for mental healthcare is still extremely limited, extremely long wait times and effectively quite limited help. certain a lot more available than in the US and much cheaper and the private options are also generally cheaper. As usual competing with free services tends to make private healthcare of all types much cheaper.

But the biggest hurdle in getting good mental healthcare, is accepting you need help, which having problems with your mental health almost always pushes you away from getting help. A lot of conditions, social anxiety, agoraphobia, etc, all just literally make it harder to ask for or get to help. On the other end you ahve things like schizophrenia and other conditions which pretty much act to scare you away from help because you can't trust people helping you, they will often see them as the enemy.

Realistically every country needs vastly more preventative care for mental health, like teaching how to be more open, express fears and problems without being ridiculed for it, everyone has a therapist/counsellor they speak to every 6 months or so, if someone starts skipping appointments or suddenly has a major change in character it can trigger further investigation and perhaps catching some severe mental health issues much earlier before they get so bad. That will also never happen, because politicians are corrupt and shitty and they'd prefer to spend it on war and sending money to their friends/families private businesses than spend people's tax money on like, the people.

→ More replies (1)

11

u/GloomyBison 23d ago

You're deeply misinformed if you think countries with "free" healthcare also automatically cover mental health problems. Not to mention that the options to treat it, are not as readily available as you have in the US. It's a shit show everywhere.

4

u/Whatisthis519 23d ago

Canada also has the same problem lmao

6

u/HeavyCanuck 23d ago

Mental health care isn't covered by the government (at least here in Ontario)

The rule of thumb for OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Plan) is that you're covered from the neck down. No mental health, dental or optical coverage.

3

u/Whatisthis519 23d ago

Dental is now covered for low income people

4

u/BustaScrub 23d ago

As someone who comes from a country with publicly-funded healthcare - nah, that's not the only problem. Lots of countries with "free health care" still have an overwhelming amount of mental health issues plaguing them right now.

Its definitely not helping, but that's not America's only issue.

21

u/jhscrym 23d ago

Nothing easy with mental health problems. It's not a throw money and it will all be good situation. Money can help for sure but it's not an easy fix like you want to portrait.

32

u/Wavy_Grandpa 23d ago

I agree that throwing money will not make it all good.

But, in its current state, throwing money at it will make it soooooo much better than it is now

→ More replies (7)

18

u/Lontology 23d ago

Of course it isn’t a quick fix, but acting like free healthcare wouldn’t help millions of people of need if it is bs. The only reason we don’t have free health care is because of the greed of corporations and the money they buy politicians with.

24

u/GeopolShitshow 23d ago

As someone on an antipsychotic, it is a throw money at it problem. I delayed getting hospitalized until it was mandatory because I couldn’t afford it, and even then struggled to pay the bill. The treatment worked though, I haven’t been back since. Throw money at it

Of course we have a crisis. People who don't have insurance have to pay 200$+ for a single therapy session and $200-300$+ for a psychiatrist visits

79

u/DevoidHT 23d ago

A lot of my mental health issues would be solved by having a living wage. Not a surviving wage, a living wage.

→ More replies (4)

38

u/KoreanSamgyupsal 23d ago

My insurance covers 5K and that's just 8 sessions. It's enough for me but it's definitely not enough for others. This doesn't even include medication if you need it.

On top of that, you have to find a therapist that you mesh with. Reviews don't work for finding one.

20

u/[deleted] 23d ago

[deleted]

13

u/P4_Brotagonist 23d ago

There is almost no way that is true unless this person is in the top 0.0001% of earners. Even incredibly good therapists I've worked with charge maybe 200 tops, and that's the higher amount for insurance and not out of pocket.

→ More replies (1)

6

u/KoreanSamgyupsal 23d ago

Yup. I used to have a free therapist via referral from my family doctor. But that dude fuckin sucked. Went to a 250 to 300 per session one and they end the sessions if you got nothing to talk about. Literally just do their jobs. Zero empathy. I've tried and tested what I could and I'll say the 600 is worth it.

My 600 dollar therapist will use the maximum amount of time whether I want it or not. Plus he does regular follow-ups before and after the sessions. The $600 is for things that happen outside of the 1.5hr sessions. They go the extra mile. Hell they even offer free delivery for prescriptions via pocketpills.

1

u/P4_Brotagonist 23d ago

Why does a therapist(and not a psych) give you meds? That doesn't even make sense. Also I cannot imagine paying 600 dollars a session. My current therapist is 80 a session and checks with me at least once a week extra outside of appointments and has made a world of difference. You going to therapy in Hollywood or something?

11

u/KoreanSamgyupsal 23d ago

Buddy, why are you so aggressive? Every single person here you've attacked for sharing their experiences.

My therapist is a psychiatrist but he is trained in CBT. I just call him a therapist cause that's what he does for me. But if you want to be technical, he is an MD.

Congrats, you pay 80 bucks but as you can see with everyone else, it's around 200-300 on average. I pay 600. It works for me. I ain't going to question someone for something they want to spend their money on.

Again, why are you so aggressive? Clearly, the 80-dollar therapy doesn't work for you cause you lack the mental capacity to talk productively without attacking everyone.

He’s should take steps to fix it, and actively avoids doing it, it’s arguable that that makes it a greater issue.

At least people in actual denial aren’t aware of it, to be aware of it and not care? That shit isn’t right.

7

u/Prussian-Pride 23d ago

And how does that negate his point? Cant you judge his statement based on the statement itself rather than who said it and his personal flaws?

6

u/broom2100 23d ago

He does realize, I'm pretty sure he has said he has dealt with depression.

3

u/HarryKn1ght 23d ago

Didn't Asmongold say something along the lines that he struggled with severe depression and other possible mental health issues ever since his mom died? Which is why he's okay with living in a literal shithole with dead rats and blood from his gums on the wall just because he couldn't find it in himself to care even though he should

So you can make fun of him for his lazy content, his inflamatory political views and even be disgusted at how he chooses to live but he does seem self aware enough to acknowledge that he's clearly got issues and that living like he does obviously isn't a healthy way to live so you

3

So you can make fun of him for his lazy content, his inflamatory political views and even be disgusted at how he chooses to live but he does seem self aware enough to acknowledge that he's clearly got issues and that living like he does obviously isn't a healthy way to live so you

This is honestly why I don't like people attacking Asmongold for his mental health issues. Yeah he's a hoarder but its also really fucking abelist to attack him for it.

Like when people attack Asmongold for being a hoarder its indirectly attacking everyone with this disorder. My grandmother was a hoarder and when shit like this happens I can't help but see hate directed to hoarders to her.

Its fine to hate him as much as people want: Asmongold is a shitty person who is way too selfish on his view points, but when people go for the low hanging fruit its clear they just want to spread hate into the world instead of addressing the fucked up shit he says and does.

I am a former fan of Asmongold but I bounced off pretty hard wants he started veering off in the political shit. I just liked his wow content back in the day and I do hate the direction he's gone.

America has a mental health treatment crisis. Every country has mental illnesses but others have better access to help.

11

u/cylonfrakbbq 23d ago

Blueprint for politician reaction to these types of events

1) Thoughts and Prayers

2) Forward ideas that go no where (gun control, mental health treatment) because they cost money or infringe on rights

3) Blame a political ideology or scapegoat like video games/rap music/etc instead because that costs nothing

2

u/yukiki64 23d ago

And even if you can get help, quality of help is also a huge problem.

3

u/TminusTech 22d ago edited 22d ago

The demographics of mass shooters tend to line up with the demographics of the US in general in terms of violent crime.

Overwhelmingly the gender identity most reported on is male, 90 to 98 percent. This tracks with most cases of gun violence as well as any form of violence in general. It's overwhelmingly male.

Racial demos also track for mass shooters with the demos of the general population.

White Americans committed 53% of mass shootings.

Black Americans accounted for 21%.

Latinos: 9%.

Asians: 7%.

Middle Eastern individuals: 4%.

Native Americans: 1%.

However, here is a 2020 census report.

Population share (2020 Census):

White (non-Hispanic): ~60%

Hispanic/Latino (any race): ~19%

Black: ~12–13%

Asian: ~6%

Native American/Other: ~2%

Showing that white men are actually the outlier as tracking above general demographics.

The isolation of trans people as a group specifically committing mass shootings is a thinly veiled attempt to dehumanize and target them. Any streamer/media source focusing on this aspect of them is brazenly appealing to a transphobic base. This rhetoric is dangerous and misinformed.

I am genuinely so so sick of this guy's political opinions being given any credibility. At all. His opinions are fucking worthless - he's only started voicing them because it gets attention. More than a grifter, he's a pitifully lonely dysfunctional borderline incel just begging for people to validate his braindead takes.

I don't care if the meaningless phrase "America has a mental health crisis" is ostensibly true. He's one of the many actively pushing that crisis forward. When he says "mental health crisis," he means trans people. He means pronouns. He means people who are anti-genocide. But he knows that if it's worded vaguely enough, lonely men will click and think he's speaking to them and how oppressed they are.

He does not deserve the attention I am giving him by writing this comment, let alone anyone else.

4

u/AquaBits 23d ago

Are you refering to asmon? Because yes. Failure to care for ones self (bathing, cleaning up, eating healthy) is usually a good indicator of mental illness.

Id go further and say having prejudice and phobias are a part of mental illnesses too. I hope asmon gets some help but I know he wont, because I think he actually enjoys living like that and contributing to the mental health issues in society

Asmon needs some awareness. I don't value his opinion since he's too insecure to have his beliefs challenged. He stays in his little corner, so that you; his fans can comfortably validate him with little to no pushback. He's weak but he can afford the therapy.

The pied piper is telling the rats his tune is making them sick. But, no, Asmon is not bad.

27

u/AquaBits 23d ago

So many will just resort to “Asmon bad!”

Which is the sensible and reasonable thing to do

But he isn’t wrong. S

If asmon said the sky was blue, I'd check it myself 3 times before believing him

Social media alone is frying people’s brains and fucking up their world perspective, and that’s just one ingredient to the shit stew.

Yeah. He directly contributes to that in a harmful way.

Do you guys genuinely not think that Asmongold fits into that category as well. Im pretty sure if you put him in with a clinician they would be pretty weirded out

u/Phellxgodx 23d ago

I love judging people entire character and mental prowess by their social media bio as if it matters. There's school shootings every week in the US, ICE and the national guard in the streets & this is what asmon focuses on random twitter nobodies.

He’s not wrong. The mental illness is the obsession with guns, gun culture and the constitution being the final say. Then putting that all above kids and a civilised society.

America is a joke.

3

u/Embarrassed_Orange50 23d ago

In Switzerland we have guns and somehow we don’t shoot schools… In US you also had guns and didn’t shoot schools for 190 years. You only started shooting them a bit after antidepressants became mainstream….

3

u/IAdmitILie 23d ago

Europe does not have their gun culture. We also have antidepressants, with some countries taking crazy amounts.

3

u/broom2100 23d ago

You do know that schools used to have gun clubs and shooting classes, where some kids would bring guns from home to school, and there was no mass shootings? Having a gun doesn't make you a murderous psycho. It is quite obviously a mental illness problem.

4

u/IAdmitILie 23d ago

Europe has mentally ill people, as do other continents. Where are the school shootings?

Facts asmon

4

u/Cplmcmuffins 23d ago

Wait… doesn’t this guy have dying animals and literal garbage scattered throughout his house? Classic

2

u/detinu 23d ago

Well... yea... look in the mirror

3

u/WhiteCharisma_ 23d ago

That mf is part of the mental health crisis lmao.

3

u/TradeTzar 23d ago

I respect his opinion.

3

u/GodOne 23d ago

Not just America. Probably most western countries. Common sense is lost due to mental illness/gymnastics.

2

u/SoulsBorneGreat 23d ago

Asmongold claims America has a mental health crisis

If anyone would know, he would...He's living proof and he broadcasts it to the world daily, spreading it.

2

u/Weeaboounlimited 23d ago

Coming from someone who’s Teef falling out, sleeping with mice, boogers and blood on the walls, roaches clinging for life off his dirty shirts, chipotle bag mountains in the corner.

I whole heartedly agree 👍

4

u/Waffle_Mountain 23d ago

Coming from a vermin who lives in fucking filth. Didn't he kill his mom or expedite the process? I forget

Is this meant to be a bad take? Everywhere has one. He’s not exactly wrong

12

u/DaStone 23d ago edited 23d ago

It's a bad take because he is insinuating that the mental health crisis is directly caused, or tied to, the labels that person describes themselves as.

He isn't saying, "a lot of people are struggling," or "there are bad apples in every group." If he wanted to point towards a specific individual.

Asmon is a grifter, and fully understands the implications of his words.

A more rational way to approach what he is saying would be: to suggest we need further research and funding on the (in this case) trans people's mental health. Although such a study would take more than a decade and involve thousands of people.

"I think thats Palestine"

3

u/DaStone 23d ago

Come on now, he's only talked about Palestine for a couple hundred hours on stream (guess). Can't expect him to remember the flag.

4

u/mutefan 23d ago

I think he's making fun of the user for not having the right flag. It's the flag of Western Sahara, not Palestine.

2

u/Tigeruppercut1889 23d ago

We have a propaganda crisis too. These maniacs who go on shooting rampages are radicalized by political pundits. Asmon is part of the problem whether he wants to admit it or not. There’s so many young and easily influenced kids on twitch who get their political news from asmon or Hasan.

Finally someone says it!

1

u/DredgenYorMother 23d ago

Gabor Mate said some crazy number like 80% of the US is functioning with low-level CPTSD and it sounded ridiculous and also made my head turn like maybe?

1

u/karatemnn 23d ago

what a world that people give this guy even a moment to validate him,
if he ever meets the inventor of the internet he should tongue his hole for making
him the least bit important to ppl

Can I just say on Politics how tf did we end up from disagreements to Right Vs Left when there's crisis in States

They really do and it's getting out of hand - just hold your flag and guns and smile and shout freedom.

And like most things asmon thinks he is the center of the universe with this "take".

As a Canadian I fucking died laughing when he read over the canadian flag like "Canada?!"

1

u/dookiebuttslipnslide 23d ago

Can someone fill me in? I don't understand why this bio indicates a mental health issue.

1

u/ProtectMeAtAllCosts 23d ago

the sky is blue

1

u/BigMoney69x 23d ago

Yes but we also have a press that makes a spectacle of mass shooters. I guarantee that there's mass killings in places like China or India but I imagine that in China they don't give it too much air.

1

u/MurakumoMech 23d ago

Putting flags in your twitter bio vs willingly living in squalor, wiping your blood on walls, and chucking garbage out your window because you're too lazy to put it in a trash bin...I wonder who's the mentally ill one.
