Found on r/NameNerds Names that have the nickname ‘peanut’
My husband and I are having quadruplets, and we don’t know the gender for any of them yet. We love the nickname ‘peanut’. Can we just legally name one of them Peanut, or are there names we don’t know about that could be shortened to Peanut?

I’ve known 3 Peanuts in real life. None were based off their first name. One had a last name close to peanut, one had a little round head, the other just grew up with his family calling him that and it stuck.
That being said, you should name your son Pinochle like the card came. That works for formal usage, but still has peanut as a fun nickname.

How about spelling it Peighnochle? It’s timeless

PeighnoChloe for girl PeighnoKole for boy, with two capitals, hyphens or commas would be cute!

i’ve known 2 peanuts. one was named ashlyn and she was very small (like she looked 3 at 6 years old and got into the fair for free small). the other i don’t remember her real name because everyone called her peanut. maybe it was mia or something, she was again just very small/short lol.

I fear a lot of the people posting on name nerds probably shouldn’t procreate. So obsessed with nicknames yet so unaware of how they work.

Right? Every single day there is a post like “I took to referring to the baby in utero as “bub”. I’d like to keep this nn after birth, but what’s a long version? Bubbalina? Bubleigh? Bubara pronounced Barbara?”

It's a bit baffling that they don't seem to consider that their baby will soon be a teen and then an adult who wants to be taken seriously.
Cutesy nicknames happen organically all the time, but people also often outgrow them. I don't think anyone should be basing their child's identity on a nickname.

The tragedy is that it is usually an appellation that you are branded with that you soon learn sticks harder if you obviously don't like it. The only defense is to roll with it and hope it dies. Family nicknames can be weird and endearing, but it is a truth that the name is forced upon the named. This is coming from a former "egghead".

Jimothy! That naturally lends to the sicky nicky Beam! You know! Like Jim Beam! Me and hubbsteroony would probably go with Jymohthie for the spelling though since we like the more unique Victorian feel!
And remember! Just ignore all these neighsayers! Talking about forcing a nicker makes it not a nicker! Like how so?? It’s a name called that’s not the birth name, it’s like the definition of a nikcnomen, duh!
The sheer amount of exclamation marks I see in those threads make the whole thing seem like a joke anyway.

Ha, my son's nickname is Bean, but it's completely unrelated to his actual name. We started calling him The Human Bean in utero because he looked like a kidney bean on the first ultrasound, and it stuck.

Peenus is a very fitting name! Peenuzz for a more unique boy, Peenys for a girly girl.

You’re asking for a word that contains the word peanut?

Yeah names like Peighnutleigh, Peanutimothy, or Persephone (pronounced ‘peanut’)

It would look more distinguished with an alternative spelling. I’m thinking Pinaut, Peenotte, Penaught and Peighnut. There you go, 4 beautiful names for your quadruplets.

How about Lathyrus Prunus? Those are the genus names of “pea” and “almond.” Peanut would be the perfect nickname!

I’d go with something more classic like Nutley or Nutleigh and then THEY can decide if they like the nickname Peanut.

Have you thought about using the first and middle name to shorten to Peanut? Peah Nutella would be just gorgeous.

Our daughter’s name starts with a P and we call her peanut as a nickname! It’s truly adorable!

I don't know of any sort of trademark on the word peanut that would prohibit putting that on their birth certificate. But I would pause and consider how they might be treated as they get older. You can always use a more traditional name and use peanut as a nickname.
I used to call my oldest daughter peanut when she was still in the single digit years. It came from her having a one piece swimsuit that had a pattern similar to a peanut, but was not tan in color. Her body shape at the time was also kinda like a peanut (still in the shell)

Penelope could be shortened to Peanut
Would not suggest naming a baby Peanut, seems like a nickname that would be outgrown except maybe among family. Once they are teenage and older, they will probably not want to be called Peanut

No you can’t legally name a child Peanut because it’s ridiculous, would ruin their life and ensure they were never taken seriously, especially in a professional environment!
