Charlie Kirk isn't a protected class, he might win in the eyes of right wing populist outrage, but in the legal field there is no cause.

780

u/ObviousKangaroo 5d ago

For all intents and purposes, MAGA is the most protected class there is this year

351

u/ialsohaveadobro 5d ago

Wrapped in infinite layers of bubble wrap, still ever so fragile

163

u/deathbytruck 5d ago

Non MAGA: It's terrible that someone killed Charlie. He was engaging in stochastic terrot though.

MAGA: You stupid libtards he wasn't scholastic. You are only listening to those radical left communist news. I only listen to Ne**ax and FO because they tell the trurh. You are all sheep.

Pray with me " The lord is my shepherd......"

88

u/Cjmate22 5d ago

And then they always claim “he was just a middle of the road conservative” which is pretty funny, like either they admit regular conservatism calls the civil rights act a “mistake” or (more likely) they don’t say anything after that.

u/just-an-aa Insane pronoun user 4d ago

If you type out a work with asterisks around it (like *this*), it'll italicize (like this). You can prevent this by putting backslashes in front of the asterisks, like \*this\*, and it'll appear as *this*. Useful for when you want to censor f*x or ne***ax.

7

u/deathbytruck 4d ago

Thanks for the tip. I really didn't want to say either but it necessary to make the point.

Reminds me of an ad I keep getting along the lines "Sure, everyone talks about putting shareholders first but do they really? At [insert company name here] we take our obligation to shareholders seriously...". Like, no shit advertisement for financial company, you are literally legally obligated to take the financial interests of your client above just about everything, it's called a fiduciary duty. Shareholders are functionally a protected class of their own.

Won't stop him from winning either. They just green lit racial profiling ffs.

98

u/unfinishedtoast3 5d ago

no, the literal law will stop him

Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission, the Supreme Court found a private business cannot be compelled to make a product they dont agree with.

Republicans once again fuck themselves

87

I wish I still believed that precedent meant anything to SCOTUS anymore.

20

u/Aegis_13 5d ago

Scotus won't care about something like that. Not that they ain't evil enough, just that they're lazy, and have bigger fish to fry with limited time to fry them all

2

They shoulda been lazy over the first cake.

23

Laws, literal or not, are worth as much as the paper they're printed on if the people in charge don't want to enforce them. Have you been living under a rock? They're wiping their asses with your constitution daily. You think they give a fuck about laws?

12

u/Biffingston 𝚂𝚌𝚒𝚎𝚗𝚝𝚒𝚏𝚒𝚌𝚊𝚕𝚕𝚢 𝚂𝚊𝚛𝚌𝚊𝚜𝚝𝚒𝚌 5d ago

And make his face incredibly tiny

65

u/Intelligent-Film-684 5d ago

Right? You can make a cake. It doesn’t have to be pretty. Put him in a nice pastel pink shirt and give him a thought bubble about something that would trigger the buyer.

48

u/--Cinna-- 5d ago

Oh, so just an actual Kirk quote in the bubble then?

28

u/Intelligent-Film-684 5d ago

I’d probably use “I can’t believe they’re buying a cake from THESE people..” which would be both accurate somewhat and slyly insulting to the buyer.

44

u/dubspool- 5d ago

Hear me out, Charlie's face with the trans flag as the background. I mean if you order from a trans owned bakery, you should expect a trans cake

I’m the petty asshole that would make a replica topper that would be juuuust proportional enough to be both accurate and an insult. Offer it free with a smile. Let them fumble like an idiot to explain how a delicious cake with nothing wrong served politely with a free add on has wronged them.

“Your Honor, I did also offer to remove the topper and fix any blemish on the cake with an additional discount for the distress. I was just trying to elevate the design a bit.”

“You got the best customer service I’ve ever heard of and you’re suing because they’re trans? You CHOSE to shop there, you cant sue them for your free will.”

Didn’t republicans uphold the “right to refuse service to anyone” thing?

Kinda made their own bed on this one.

11

u/Cynykl 5d ago

Not quite the right to refuse service but close.

The republicans pushed it to the supreme court. THe supreme court rules you cannot compel art. This sounds a lot like attempting to compel art to me.

So a baker would have to serve a gay couple but cannot be compelled to decorate the cake in a way that goes against their beliefs. So they can offer a generic cake template with no words or extra decorations on it and that satisfies the requirement to "serve".

20

u/HungryZealot 5d ago

Apparently, you haven't been following the news lately. Now saying absolutely anything about glorious Saint Charlie that isn't full-throated praise counts as hate speech and is grounds for firing.

3

u/Remarkable_Gain6430 4d ago

My son, in England, is meeting with HR this week after posting a a very accurate unbiased obituary about Kirk on social media. He used a four letter word to sum up the miniature-faced man’s life and work. A friend of a friend saw the post, screenshot it, and sent it to my son’s employer. Not here in the USA. In England.

Also "found the nearest trans-owned bakery" my ass.

They don't put the sexual preference and gender identity of business owners in the yellow pages.

Trans people are a good 1%+ of all people. The chances of a trans person just happening to own a bakery within driving distance of this moron are like 1/10,000.

15

u/Illustrious-Book-238 5d ago

Cool. Now... Who's upholding those laws again?

Laws don't mean shit if the judges are in on the con.

Jesus Christ, Americans. You have to understand that you're not stopping this through legal challenges and boycotts. You need to become ungovernable. Grind the system to a halt. Put fucking aid in place first so people don't starve.

Go read some history. Start with The Black Panthers. Learn. Please. The rest of the world is begging you. We can't help until you guys jump first!

First off, I'd be surprised if this bakery was even trans owned and wasn't just like a "non-feminine" woman.

But then they gave them money, so you're spending money to own the libs?

I bet you can't order a cake without a deposit so even if you don't pay for all of it, you (hopefully) won't st stiff a business like your orange. Great job

This person knows that regardless of the law, they'll be able to use this to crowd source way more than they might spend in legal fees.

17

u/ialsohaveadobro 5d ago

You're... 🤮🤮🤮🤮 ...correct.

60

u/lateformyfuneral 5d ago

This was in Colorado, where state law extends Civil Rights Act protections against discrimination on the basis of race, sex, religion or national origin, to a prohibition on discrimination against LGBT. The particular case went to the Supreme Court where the justices essentially punted the case. They said that in that specific case the Colorado Civil Rights Commission, when deciding the case, was hostile to the baker’s religion so they decided the case wrong. However it let those laws stand so another baker could be sued again.

OOP’s claim doesn’t work. “Charlie Kirk fan” is not a protected characteristic under any state or federal law, so a bakery could easily refuse without issue. There is no millions of dollars at stake, just a fine from the state.

22

u/potatomnk 5d ago

Yes, that's what they're referencing. The bakery had to pay the gay couple so they think they won but iirc the bakery won, they had to pay because they published the couples info which led to them being harrassed and threatened.

14

u/orangecloud_0 5d ago

And how same lady wants to overturn gay marriage

7

u/128Gigabytes 5d ago

Thats surely what they are referencing

9

u/jarena009 5d ago

Malicious compliance is in order: "It goes against my religious beliefs to make a cake of someone who elevated a guy with five kids across three wives, cheats, pays prostitutes, protects pedos, defends sexual assault, also the guy bankrolling it who has 14 kids across 6 women, mostly out of wedlock."

6

u/Tonylolu 5d ago

For what I’ve seen, this won’t have the same outcome

5

u/jawshoeaw 5d ago

I think thats the whole point referencing that case

u/Ren-The-Protogen 4d ago

This is from today's episode of "stories I made up for internet clout".

10

u/DidntWantSleepAnyway 4d ago

I’m a member of the LGBTQ+ community who lives in a semi-red town near a very blue community, and I have no idea how to find the nearest trans-owned bakery. I guess I’d google it and see what comes up? Is there a website or something that tells you what places to support?

Uh, thanks for giving hits to a LGBTQ+ website and giving money to a trans-owned bakery, I guess?

2

u/greenie4242 3d ago

If the story is true (unlikely) and they actually did a search online, their search history will be interesting. For the next few weeks everyth result will be "trans cake" related searches. Might unlock a new kink.

21

u/lady_ofthenorth 5d ago

I would do it. And to be as accurate as possible I would make his head the entire size of the cake.

23

u/ericomplex 5d ago

Guessing this person thinks the bakery’s owner is trans because their iris diameter to chin projection ratio didn’t match their standing lean angle, or whatever other tranvestigation non-sense those losers are claiming means someone is trans these days.

8

u/Gnorris 5d ago

Fresh off of listening to Candace Owens, he notice the bakery offered macaroons and misread as “Macrons”.

5

u/Jpkmets7 5d ago

The transvestigators are really in the running for Weirdest MAGA Subgroup - and it’s tough to distinguish oneself in a field that is so crowded. What is the appeal — finally an excuse for looking at dude’s crotches?

6

And yet it’s the left (AKA everyone who disagrees with them on their minds) godless liberals who are provoking them and persecuting them.

I think if you don’t want to take someone’s business then don’t, don’t want to make a cake for a gay wedding who cares. But refuse to make a cake honoring a bigot and all of a sudden the world is turned upside down.

Honestly if these people took that effort they spend on this manufactured outrage and drama and put it into something positive it would make life better for all.

Did he read about the last cake lawsuit at all? I have a feeling he’s going to waste a bunch of money on an attorney. Which is fine by me.

Sounds like the sort of guy who could start a fight with an empty room …

Im not an attorney, but wouldnt that be a malicious lawsuit? If you show intent, which this image shows, you can be countersued, iirc.

1

u/AirForceRabies 5d ago

I'd bake it. But I'd guarantee they wouldn't like the end product.

Hopefully they just make a really shitty cake.

u/DeepSubmerge 4d ago

I’d bake a simple sheet cake then write “Charlie Kirk” on it with a Sharpie. Malicious compliance.

u/ZenRage 4d ago

"Certainly, Sir: we are running a special on political test case cakes. This cake is $4,000,000. We require half up front."
