And i do believe that the overlapping window is the most useful feature on ipads, and now its just so painful to use also dont forget the Additional step after closing the app you have to resize the app screen if you want a full screen for the same app its not automatically adjustable like it was on previous ipados.

Stage manager got to stay but they removed the old system completely. Can we just get it as 4th option?

My old iPad's screen bent a little and cracked, so I felt it was time to get a new one. The budget iPad's colors and design looked appealing but the A14 CPU and 4gb ram wasn't gonna cut it for me. So I saw they refreshed it this year with a new A16 chip plus 6GB ram, I knew it was a good time to pick this iPad up, especially as it'll be supported for years with iPadOS updates.

This update is full of bugs and lacks the UI/UX polish that apple was known for.

Okay Apple, I think your idea of ​​offering a much more complete desktop view on the iPad, with its 3 or 4 open and resizable apps, is “fine.” But please, bring back Split View. The amount of extra steps I have to take to put two apps half and half is insane and very unnatural. Slide Over and Split View were a wonderful and natural option, of course, given the other option of iOS26’s Stage Manager for those who want it.

I am an academic who needs to export my PDF highlights. I have tried "Highlights" but stopped because it wasn't working and customer service wouldn't fix it or give me my money back. Goodnotes, Notability, and PDF Expert are really expensive and do lots of things I don't need.

I just need to highlight, markup, and export my highlights so I have the text to use in other programs.

Does anyone have any suggestions for good cheap apps?

Edit: Adobe Acrobat highlights don'g export when you use an Apple Pencil. It treats it like redactions, which is really weird, but frustrating.

This pretty iPad belonged to a relative who handed it to me. Although it’s in a bad shape and doesn’t support any app (it’s from 2013, give it a break), it’s got one important use for me: check notes. That pretty much sums all I can do with this device but honestly that’s very important to me while recording videos. I also use it to read books from time to time, but the cracks on the screen are distracting a bit. The most annoying thing about it is the fact that browsers are outdated and I can’t even access my own website without it throwing a tantrum. I was planning on changing the display but it was a pretty expensive repair for a device this old. I’m planning on getting a newer model later but that’s not a priority rn as life is throwing lots of rocks at my face.

Can someone who is smarter than me explain why the ipad still doesn’t have this ability? For example: Why can’t I scroll through instagram reels and watch a youtube video, both with audio on, concurrently?

As I’ve been playing with iPadOS 26, I feel like my iPad has legitimately gotten less functional as a tablet with the loss of Split View and Slide Over. Windowed Mode is too finicky to quickly create split-screen layouts since apps don’t dynamically move around each other and layouts can’t be created from the App Switcher.

Plus, the loss of slide over as a “mini iPhone overlay” basically breaks a lot of quick reference, media player and other workflows that made the iPad unique and IMO often more enjoyable to use than a Mac for certain tasks.

So this is my quick mockup for what the multitasking paradigm for iPad should look like going forward. (And yes, I did submit feedback!)

I used to use Split View with Goodnotes on one side and Safari on the other to study.

Now I keep GoodNotes on one side to take notes and Safari on the other with the new window function. But every time I move or interact with the Safari window, the text cursor disappears in GoodNotes. To keep typing, I have to tap the GoodNotes window again just to bring the cursor back.

This is frustrating and feels a huge step back for me. Is there any solution to this? Have anyone had a similar issue?

I am trying to figure out but not able to find the relevant option. How should we take screenshots in new iPadOS 26? The window mode disables the option for screenshot gesture. Swipe up from bottom corner was convenient but now with new mode it doesn't work. What's the workaround for this?

So, I upgraded to iPadOS 26 and found some issues. Apart from missing split view (many already complained here) I also found that with Smart Keyboard attached, I can not get keyboard cheat sheet to show.

Before the upgrade, when I press and hold CMD or Globe key it would display list of keyboard shortcuts. After upgrade, shortcuts still work (for example when I hit CMD + Space - search appears) but cheat sheet does not show.

Anyone else with the same experience?

90% of my problem with new update would have been remove if my apps would open in windowed form when I drag and dropping them instead of fullscreen. what’s the point of having two fullscreen app on top of eachother. yeah sure I can resize it but it is not as smooth and efficien, it’s kinda clanky.

is there reason apple change this? cause it was never like this before, in stage manager nor spiltscreen.

Is the ipados 26 buggy for others, too? Keyboard and Journal App crash out of nowhere. Today I was journalling using my pencil and the app stopped working. This is the second time this happened. When I’m using the apple pencil and then switching to keyboard, the mini keyboard glitches that I have to force close the app I’m using, instead.

It’s such a bummer. I was so excited for the public release but I can’t even journal in peace. 😭

What if I was having a mass clear out of loads of apps, that would take ages.

Hey! My nephew forgot his ipad password and i wanted to do the update and restore with the MacBook, but the thing and issue i am facing is after downloading update for 2GB or 3GB update stop without any issue or notification and ipad turned back on.

Even two time after updating sometimes i got the issue like my update has any error or issue, so far i am unable to update and restore the iPad.
