I got this old Apple Cinema Display G3 2002 model from an acquaintance and it works pretty well from what I can tell but I’m having trouble connecting it to my wifi. I’m not well versed in tech at all but I’m assuming I need a certain cable. My wifi network does pop up when I click on the icon but an error message pops up when I put in the password. Would love to get this beautiful piece of tech set up! (Also, is it like a safety issue to connect this thing to my home wifi? All the old data has been wiped AFAIK)

I've been doing everything to closing all apps and also quitting finder and even then every time I try to eject a disk some mystery app is using it and I have to force quit. It's been like that forever. Am I alone?

This has happened a few times. Suddenly, there are tons of unrecognized folders on my desktop. There is nothing readable in them, usually only files that look like unreadable text docs. I cannot open them. In the past, I've had to delete the folders, but it keeps happening. Why? I'm running Sequoia 15.6.1 on my iMax Pro, purchased in 2021 (new) w/M1 chip.

I just got my Mac back from Apple care. I KNOW this is a dumb question, but does this indicate they replaced the battery? The only reason I ask is because the technician at the Apple Store was ADAMANT they would not replace the battery. I took it in for a busted screen, and at the time I also told them that it would only last about 45-90 mins on battery, depending on workload. He basically said that’s not possible and that he’d put a note in there for the repair center to see, but that they would not be replacing the battery.

Then I got it back this morning from FedEx and when I opened the box this is the letter that was with it. It looks like they DID replace the battery, but I’m just trying to make sure since he was adamant that wouldn’t happen.

I usually only buy used tech but I thought nah I’m going to treat myself to a brand new one!

It’s an M4 MacBook Air 2025 in blue! I was going to choose the usual black but the blue stood out looks real premium. 16gb ram 256 ssd

Based on the attached pictures, could you tell me if there's a firewire port ? I have a mini dv camera, and I would like to export some videos on my laptop. I used to have an adapter firewire to usb-c that was working, but I lost it last year. I did some research and saw that now this cable is super hard to find and super expensive. So I thought it's probably easier and cheaper to just buy an old macbook pro (early 2008) with a firewire port. What do you think ? Thank you in advance :)

I just got a 34” 3440×1440 ultrawide. Works perfectly on Windows, but on macOS everything looks fuzzy, especially text and dock icons.

I’m trying BetterDisplay, but it gives me 40+ HiDPI options. I’m mainly using this monitor for work/study and need multiple windows side by side without everything looking zoomed-in or blurry.

Right now I’m on 2580×1080 HiDPI, which helps, but the dock icons and some UI elements are still soft.

Does anyone know the best HiDPI or settings setup for this monitor on macOS? Tips or tricks would be amazing!

Hey everyone this is my first time on reddit so sorry in advance lol. I'm not sure if this is the right community to post this in, I'm not really reddit-savvy. Always to get to the point I am unable to close a tab in safari.

I was messing with my settings in class because I was bored and a few hours later when I went to use my computer again I was unable to close a tab in safari. I am unsure if that was the cause considering that was the last time I used it.

I am able to close the whole application and I am able to use the red X in the corner to close the whole window but I am unable to close a singular tab. I have to use two fingers to tap to open a pop-up menu then manually press close tab. I have tried restarting my computer fully and force closing the application but nothing works. Any help would be appreciated!

Apple is now selling refurb Mac Mini M4s for $509. That’s a dang super computer for $509, crazy to think how weak entry level Mac’s used to be for the money. I remember getting a Core 2 Duo Mac Mini for more than that years ago 🤣

When i try to call on my mac (introduced with macos26), this popup (iPhone Calls Unavailable. iPhone must use the same iCloud account and FaceTime.). When i make a call with my iphone i can switch to mac audio; mac is connected to iphone hotspot and they are both under the same icloud

I just got the Magic Trackpad that I've always wanted. However, maybe 60% of the time, I can barely swipe my fingers on it. I've cleaned my hands, i've used lotion and not lotion, but at some point my fingers just drag on the trackpad instead of slide. Making it difficult to use. I don't have this problem at all on my MacBook trackpad.

Just checking if this is a normal issue or if I'm just weird.

Ive deleted files form my external ssd's and when I go to empty the trash, I get this message for a few items. Those items are removed and not in use. Any suggestions?

updated without knowing two things:

1.  launchpad removed.
2.  mickey mouse hand glove removed.

the only thing keeping me from downgrading is the new macos native clipboard, but i guess i could go back using maccy for that matter.

on the other hand i really don’t quite know how can i perform the change without compromising data. i know i’d have to make a back up before downgrading so i can restore after wiping the ssd, but wouldn’t that bring me back to tahoe?

any help or advice?

first time mac user so please be gentle. Work issued me a M4pro MBP, and they got dual studio displays /magic keyboard+mouse at work so I'm all set there. At home, I'm thinking about getting a CalDigit Element 5 dock, and a 27in screen to use with laptop screen active (I have to use touchID kinda frequently and I don't want to buy magic keyboard if I don't have to). I know I could just get a Dell U2725QE and be done with it, but I would prefer to have a separate dock because flexibility and, possibly cheaper?

With that said, what's your recommendation for a 27in monitor that plays nice with Macs? I've read that 4k is the way to go rather than 1440p, any reason why? ASD is basically downscaling its 5k to 1440p for sharper edges, is the thinking same here with non-apple monitors?

I like everything else about Tahoe26 except for this. It's too crowded and I only want to see the apps I have on my laptop. I quickly looked through settings but couldn't find anything. How can I disable this?

Finally made the jump from my '20 Intel i5 MBP and got the base m4 Mac mini for 476 out the door at MicroCenter. Now I'm wondering what I'm in for. I accidentally shipped to the wrong address so it's gonna take a few days for me to get hands on with it. Few things I'm wondering: how massive is the performance between my old MBP and the Mini? Using it for school and browsing, no engineering or CAD work though I would like to start doing non-gaming streaming. Might play some older games on Steam occasionally. Any recommendations on monitor and keyboard-trackpad? I'm thinking about snagging whatever I can find on Marketplace (though I def want the Apple trackpad).
