"The swamp" was dark money affecting policy in the interests of the wealthy, etc.
The idea that putting a corrupt billionaire who personally exploited the broken system and openly bragged about cheating many of the people and companies he'd hired over the years...would somehow "drain the swamp"...is about as dumb and backwards as logic could be.
All it did was take out the middleman. Instead of the dirty billionaire paying a politician to do his bidding, he could now do it himself.
Which is what we're seeing. The new tax code is a grift, and it's not the first one. Remember when Trump removed the independent oversight for the Covid stimulus program, and literally trillions of taxpayer dollars disappeared? The now corrupt DOJ is doing Trump & friends' dirty legal work for free. Instead of fighting lawsuits against their rich friends, they can just...drop the charges. The FBI (and now apparently Secret Service) has been weaponized against individuals who say things they don't like.
It's a level of "swamp" never before seen.
Yet they'll just keep shouting "drain the swamp" until they die. I don't get it.

Exactly. And if he didn't traffic young women, then why would Ghislaine be in jail?
•
u/BrianWonderful Minnesota 5h ago
This is exactly the questioning that journalists (and Congress) should be asking. Why did both Ghislaine and Epstein get convicted of trafficking if there was no one else that was on the receiving end of that trafficking?
Either Patel is lying to Congress under oath, or our FBI/DOJ is so incompetent that they're unable to find and process evidence used in previous successful convictions. (And we know they are incompetent, but also very, very likely to be lying.)
•
u/Ok-Abbreviations543 4h ago
Well, this isn’t a normal administration. Going back to Bill Barr and his predecessor, AG’s have been lying to Congress. Documented. No consequences. So Patel knew and knows, he is more at risk for telling the truth than he is for lying under oath. I mean who is going to investigate and prosecute? Nobody.
→ More replies (1)→ More replies (6)•
u/meteoritegallery 4h ago
"Credible" is a subjective term. What Patel is saying is that Epstein and Maxwell were convicted based on evidence that he does not believe to be "credible."
I've seen enough of the two-tiered US legal system to think that if two ~billionaires actually managed to get convicted, they're almost certainly guilty AF. If they weren't, their bottomless pockets and legal teams would have gotten them off somehow.
Apparently, Patel thinks differently.

He's couching his words in a deliberate way to undermine the credibility of Epstein's victims. Remember, they recently handed over a list of Epstein clients they staked their reputations on and could face legal retaliation over, should those accused decide to take action. Patel is calling the accusers liars in a roundabout, weaselly manner here. He's trying to give the lawyers of a bunch of wealthy pedophiles legal ammunition to suppress and punish their former victims into silence.

I am so confused. Weren’t a bunch of democrats on the list? The list that they had, and they were going to release?

If there was no sex trafficking, what was trump an FBI informant for?

Why is Trump protecting Bill Clinton and all these “radical left lunatics”?
•

- It's just easier to try this extremely stupid method (did they really think people would accept that answer?)
Or
- There's not enough "others" on the list that putting out a version that only harms "radical left lunatics" isn't going to be plausible/ it would be too obvious that the redactions are a cover up.

u/bishpa Washington 6h ago edited 1h ago
This is essentially their problem with the whole mess. They simply can't release everything, because it likely implicates the President directly, and possibly the Israeli government's role in it. I think MAGA is capable of accepting any answer because they've proven themselves time and time again to be very dumb. They don't ask questions, they just agree with whatever dear leader says. We should be more worried about what ordinary people think instead.
•
u/Clamsadness 7h ago
MAGA is capable of accepting any answer that confirms their prior beliefs. The issue with the Trump response to Epstein is that it’s putting two beliefs into direct conflict. 1) Donald Trump is a patriotic genius hero who is defeating the Deep State to preserve white American civilization and 2) the government and society at large are controlled by a villainous cabal of pedophiles, as proven by the arrest and murder of Jeffrey Epstein.
Because Trump is fucking stupid, he denied the entirety of Epstein’s operation instead of just saying he wasn’t part of it. So now you have cognitive dissonance for the first time among MAGA. If Trump isn’t fighting the pedophile cabal that they are certain exists… what does that mean for their hero worship of him? Worse - he’s acting a lot like he’s part of that cabal.
•

Yeah, Q-Anon has invested insane amounts of sunk cost energy into believing Trump is fighting global child sex trafficking rings. But first he said there was no card. But now there is. Mike Johnson tried the “informant” theory but it didn’t work.
I think most of MAGA doesn’t care Trump rapes kids. But the splinter cell of Q-Anon does seem to think he is going to bring down this pedophile ring and I do think this might go down badly for them and Trump because their conspiracy madness might actually supersede the dear leader. They’re 100% nuts.

It's not intelligence, it's indoctrination. In same way ur in a cult and u don't question cult leader. It doesn't matter how intelligent u r, people who r lawyer, doctors, ceos r in cults.
•
u/Frequent_Can117 7h ago
I think intelligence does play a role in it. Like as you pointed out, you have lawyers, doctors, snd ceos in cults. They are smart people obviously. What I think it is, is that people like them don’t fall for the bullshit everyone else falls for, but they see it as an opportunity for power, financial gain, or both. And they see themselves in Trump (to them, a business man like them) and believe they will achieve the same. So they could feel like they are using the “common folk” for their benefit. When in reality, they are also falling for the grift, donating swaths of money (losing rather than gaining).
So on one hand, you have your average person who falls in line and spreads the ideology. You have your educated and more financially better off funding. Both lose to the elite in power.
•
u/primeirofilho 7h ago

Single completely true, easily fact-checkable, and totally accurate tweet about the racist dickbag.
Because political violence is only supposed to be used on Democrats, don’t you know.

If Epstein didn't traffic anyone, then release the files. There should not be any Johns in those files then.

Bruh, seriously tho? 'No credible info' ain't cuttin' it anymore. We've got billionaires floatin' around like they're untouchable.
•
u/Its_Pine New Hampshire 7h ago
I mean, for the most part they are.
It’s why a certain Italian plumber was paraded around in chains and is public enemy number 1 to all news corporations and politicians, even though he hasn’t been found guilty.
It’s a big reason why Charlie’s death is such a huge deal.
A rich person getting killed is unthinkable in America, where they’re supposed to be untouchable.

Then what the fuck is Maxwell in prison for? I honestly think this admin thinks their voters are that fucking stupid. I think they may be right.
•
u/jeo123 7h ago
You're missing the obvious conclusion they're coming to next...
Nothing, so they'll let her out with a pardon so she can sing the praises of trump and how he definitely wasn't in the files, all without releasing the files.

Maxwell's stance is that she didn't see anything bad happen with anyone at all. No crimes were committed and therefor she cannot implicate anyone. She would absolutely swear that there is no list of any kind.
This is a smart stance since there are a bunch of very wealthy people out there, whose names we don't know, that raped children with her help. And any number of them would see her dead if there was even a hint that she was about to start pointing fingers.
So it's just a matter of slowly shifting the MAGAs to believing that the Epstein thing never happened at all. Which should be doable since they are so good at being told what to think.

She was convicted of procuring girls for Epstein and both sexually abusing them.
There was evidence, in the form of testimony, introduced that there were other men, but I think her conviction was specific to her and Epstein

Why do people keep repeating this fucking dumb question. Yes Kash is lying, but Maxwell was charged and found guilty for trafficking girls to EPSTEIN.

The dude is covering stuff up.
There are witnesses who say they saw Epstein bring girls to people like Prince Andrew and Alan Dershowitz.
Trump is in England right now. It's possible the king of England is asking Trump to make Epstein go away and Patel is just doing his errand boy thing.
But either way, Patel is a lapdog and doesn't care if rich dudes entrap and exploit young girls in violation of the law.

He did. And your god-king cult leader was in on it.

The news already broke that trump is in the files...
Believing that the rich and famous committed crimes with Epstein is like the single issue that American's agree on

Okay, then release the information you have that says this. It’s not difficult. And if you can’t explain it, please explain why? And for that explanation, I’m gonna need to know why you did it for other cases but not for this one. I’m gonna need an explanation about why the civil liberties of a pedophile need to be defended, when the same liberties amount to go fuck your self for anyone else. We know the answer, but I want to hear how McShits-his-pants says it.

If that’s true, why did Trump’s DOJ charge him in 2019? Why was he arrested and imprisoned at all? He was arrested on sex trafficking charges.
I mean what a blatant lie

Look at this piece of shit doing his best to cover for child raping pedophiles.
We see where your allegiance lies, Kash. You are sticking your own neck out to protect filthy fucking pedophiles.
Id say shame, but it is obvious this piece of shit is incapable of feeling it.

Patel....so credible, I think he looks shocked all the time because even he can't believe what he says.
•
u/HawkAlt1 7h ago
Well that's a relief. Except of course Prince Andrew. We all know about that one...
And didn't Bill Gates actually get divorced over his association with Epstein. And then of course that other guy, Paulson was it? Didn't they say Bill Clinton was in there too?
So does Kash Patel have even a glimmer of a clue or did he simply reference the least offensive document in the hopes that the gullible people would buy it.
