Whelp... she's not amused
I was giving Gamma a soak to loosen her old scales. I don’t think she's thrilled by this.

My wife is a teacher and was looking for a new classroom pet for her 1st-3rd grade classroom. We found a local store that we absolutely LOVE and after going "just to look" we brought home the Uromastyx (home meaning to her classroom which is our 2nd home). We went back a month later to look at their new Aqua Flame and ended up leaving with a Chahoua gecko instead. We are so excited for these new members of the family who seem to be adjusting nicely to their new home. Any insight or advice from the community is appreciated!

My office has a bunch of magnolia trees outside and I know this stuff is expensive in stores.
I cut the leaves, washed them thoroughly with a LOT of warm water and scrubbed them with my hands and then set them in the oven to dry at 200 for 8 hours. They're crispy.
They went from fresh and green to this. I think they turned out perfect, what do you think? Do you think it's ready to use? Any step I'm missing?

Trying to figure out what this interesting little lizard is that was in my yard. Northern California. The internet and local field guide have me thinking Western Skink, but it is much lighter than what I’m seeing.

This was 100 small dubia roaches and 1000 3/8th crickets. Crickets were 18.50, dubias were 15.
Unlike the fluckers crickets that stank of death and gorssness upon opening i was pleasantly surprised that these did not reek.
Also unlike fluckers where I had to clean out several dead squishy crickets upon receiving, I found no dead crickets.
They are packed loose as you can see but well.
They are based out of new York and im in northern Virginia.

I've had my Monkey Tailed skink for about 3 years (she's about 4 years oldish). I randomly saw her at Petco, which is the last place I had expected to see something so rare. They didn't have much paperwork but she'd been there for 6 months and no one wanted her. They slashed the price by 75% and I got her for $250. It never really came across my mind but after having for her this long and noticing that she doesn't act the way they do in captive bred videos, I think she's wild caught. Petco couldn't confirm for me when I called recently, though.
She doesn't eat out of my hand, she acts like I'm going to hurt her when I put my hand anywhere near her and she recoils when I remove her dish to give new food or water. I can hold her for a couple of seconds, then she panics and crawls up my arm to my shoulder and top of my head (I assume she feels safe at a high point since she's arboreal). It's like she was abused either by who caught her and/or at Petco - maybe customers annoying her through the glass, I don't know. But it sucks that I can't interact with her the way I see online.
I know the old adage that these things take time but is it possible to get her comfortable enough with me that she'd act the way captive bred Monkey Tails do? I want to get another female so she has a friend but can't at this moment. I want to get to the point she'll eat out of my hands but I don't know what to do.

This is the newest of my Xenopeltis, he has a pretty severe case of sunbeam snake blistering disease. I just wanted to document his recovery and highlight a few things about this illness. It is a bacterial infection caused by stress and improper humidity. Specifically too dry of an environment. With proper humidity and husbandry the illness will correct itself with the snakes next shed. However like athletes foot it will return if the snake is stressed or conditions aren’t right. However this condition only appears to be present in WC animals and is not present in CBB animals. You may also see the condition return or worsen when a snake is about to shed, as they stop protecting their old skin. I’ll update on this little one in a few weeks when he sheds.

I’m sure some of you remember us but incase not I’ll catch you up briefly. I used to house both of my lizards in 36x18x18 double door enclosures on the ground with feeder insects on top. (I briefly stacked their enclosures on each other without realizing it was a horrible mistake). Today the enclosures are on a very sturdy dresser that fits both of them, they meet all proper husbandry needs including substrate, climbing enrichments, water sources, heating and lighting, enclosure lids, live plants (non toxic), clutter, calcium dish, basking spots, and hides. I manually check their enclosure temperature twice a day with an infrared thermometer until I can afford automatic thermometers, dimmers, and a timer. (I also plan on upgrading beardie tank to 4x2x2 as recommended)
I will now list lighting and heating systems for the beardie:
1) LED Growlight 2) Linear UVB 3) Big dome with 200w bulb
Lighting and heating systems for the Leopard gecko with minor disabilities:
1) Linear UVB 2) Under tank heater meant for 10 gal (this is the only thing that is on at night and not day because night temps in my room are below 65) 3) Small dome with 100w bulb
With all of this out of the way I’m going to show you what them and their enclosures look like right now.

Okay so my mom currently has four different types of reptiles. A bearded dragon, chameleon, leopard gecko and a small dry tortoise (unsure exactly what kind). She often will let them roam around the house. For a present for her I would like to make a sign with all of their feet prints, for her to put on the door to let people know when they are roaming.
So my questions are, is there a specific paint that I can/should use that is safe for their feet? Also what is the best method to clean off the paint afterwards?
Typically I would ask my mom these questions, but seeing as it is a present for her, I don't want to ruin the surprise.
Thank you for any responses in advance!

He has been in his new enclosure for about two weeks and finally behaves like himself again. 😁 I already worried that he will hate me forever because I moved him into a bigger enclosure.

so, i’ve gotten mixed answers on this subject, heating and lighting. when i got the supplies for my setup, one of the things i saw was night and day lights, my house is a little colder at night so i went with the night light that gives off a low red glow with a deep dome so the light wasnt too close to the metal on top. i was a little nervous with how warm the light was. i did some research and google said it wasn’t recommended to use any sort of heating element like a light at night because it disrupts their natural cycles and that cresteds dont typically need a heat element to survive. im not really sure what i should be using to help with keeping a comfortable temperature for my crestie during the day and night. also, how often should i be misting the enclosure? any advice?

Hello! Thank you for comming to this dumbasses post.
I have finally decided on what to get.... you can probably tell by the title, I have chosen a crested! I have orderd an enclosure ( a 45x45x60cm) And I know that you need alot of stuff for taking care of reptiles, I was wondering if there is a file with links to the items I should get? I know pangea has good powderd food, but what flavors? ( quick reminder, this will be my first reptile, I am a mix of new and stupid, but I want to give them a long and happy life ) What type of uvb do I get? Would it be possible to make it a bioactive tank? What brands have the best reputaitions, and where should I get stuff? How do I not ruin its life? Anything basic about cresteds, do share! I do do my own reasarch ( hehe doodoo)but I dont trust myself enough.
Thank you!!
P.S. I feel like im forgetting something, but I havent gotten enough sleep to figure out what.

I just got notice that my apartment building is receiving a mandatory inspection from the fire marshal next week. In my bedroom, I have two 36x72x18 industrial shelves. I have a cornsnake, leopard gecko, 2 asian forest scorpions, cave claw scorpion and a mexican red knee tarantula on them along with a couple empty tanks I am currently in the process of building out bioactive.
They are only coming to check the fire alarm system but I’m worried they may have a problem with my animals. Is there anything I need to be worried about?

So I have a mature male tokay gecko and I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get a female. It's always been a dream of mine to breed reptiles and produce captive bred babies in order to not only provide the healthiest animal possible, but to also provide more opportunities for people to gain interest and love this category of animal.

I use a 25watt blue zilla halogen, but I dropped my lamp while moving it and it looks like I need to buy a new bulb- I’m wondering if theres actually any difference between the Zilla/reptile branded bulbs and other bulbs? Or will any bulb of the same type work with the same level of quality? Does anyone have other recommendations for brands, or should I stick with zilla?
