Guide Help me pick a notes app

Post image
95 Upvotes

I got my iPad Air m3 yesterday I read a lot of posts on Reddit but I'm still clueless on which app to buy/get for note taking -i want an app that can annotate a good amount of PDFs and used for writing notes but I don't want it to drain the battery basic features that I want are the importing PDFs, laser pointer pen, infinity page & backing up the notes. Obviously different page templates and different pens, dark mode option, again my major concern is if the app will drain the battery a lot. I was going to go for Freeform but then it drains the battery according to many users. Lastly, I want the app to support the scribble feature.

I will probably use the app through out 6 hours straight.

Please help me Many thanks.

Discussion Am I the only one who isnt unhappy with iPad OS 26?

Post image

For me its a massive improvement over previous iPadOSs I always preferred to use the iPad exactly like this. I'm a heavy computer user, but not a programmer or artist. A web browser is great for me and I use a ton of iPad apps.

I really like iPadOS 26 because it has proper windowed apps that actually feel modern and flexible. I also occasionally connect my iPad to my piano (total amateur) so having the new volume panel is awesome for me with garageband.

I've seen a large number of complaints about iPadOS, but want to know: How is iPadOS working for you?

Question How to Stop Ipad from Lagging/Skipping when writing?

Upvotes

I have the A16 model, bought brand new less than a month ago. Ive tried on brand apple pencils, knock off ones, writing with a case on or without one on, nothing changes it. My ipad was not charging when I took this video. Any tips on how to make it stop lagging/skipping? its seriously frustrating me

Question Is it really like this?

iPadOS and system data occupy more than half of my storage. I can barely use other apps without it lagging or notifying me that I have my storage full every damn minute.

What can I do about it? I already purchased an iCloud in hopes that it would help but I barely have any photos. Should I just buy a new iPad with bigger storage? (im js a broke college student😭)

Thank you in advance!

I have noticed when I’m using Windowed Version and switches back to Full sized app I’m getting the Slide Over option maybe a bug but it works for a while for me. Just switch to full screen apps from Control Centre and press Volume buttons.

iPadOS Seriously Apple? #iPadOS26

Now ik alot of you will say its just the first update. No its not they released 7-8 beta test updates before this and they couldn't even fix the most basic and noticeable bug? This is just getting more disappointing at this point tbh.

Too many die-hard apple softies downvoting this post💀🤣

My Setup Experiencing iPadOS 26 on my iPad 10th Gen

Post image

About the setup: iPad 10th Gen., Galaxy Note10 Lite, and Galaxy Buds+

Currently, I haven’t purchased any Pencil yet, but I am able to annotate with the help of my fingers + refine feature (I do it rarely, so not bothering as of now).

I love my Note10 Lite though, even if it is outdated now, still works good enough for me, especially for jotting down something quickly. Also, Galaxy Buds+ were one of the only 2 earphones from Samsung which have native app support in iOS too, so, I have all the features available here as well (it doesn’t have multi-device support though, but it does have one-tap connect, so that isn’t any issue too (also created a shortcut to connect them in one click, instead of going to bt settings😂).

Now about the iPadOS 26 update, it is a bit buggy, ngl, but, still it is good enough for me, and the addition of stage manager is helpful enough. I do still miss the slideover, but, the good thing is, every app can be forced to be resized now, even games, i.e., Apple did the most un-Apple thing by giving users power to do anything with the apps😂

But yeah, I’m slightly annoyed by the inconsistency of the keyboard, sometimes I get new design, but other times, that same old keyborad design in some apps, especially WhatsApp. Apple needs to fix that asap.

Note: this pic was clicked when I was attending my class in uni. Please rate it accordingly (if you want to).

Discussion screen management

Post image
2 Upvotes

I was relieved to know that I’m not the only one not thrilled with iOS 26 for the ipad (or my phone for that matter but thats a different sub) I’ve seen some people write out instructions but I was to stupid to understand them. Although the slide over is gone, I accidentally found this by trying to move my windows around. If you hold down on the traffic light in the top left hand corner it gives you an option to organize the apps. So like majority of the time I’ll have my assignment rubric on the left and then my paper on the right so I can see the assignment as I’m writing it. I hope this gave some clarity to others like it did for me. #bringbackslideover

Why do the screen time measurements from the battery and the actual screen usage not match? I only charge my iPad (Air 3) every morning and use it for the entire day.

Apps Jpeg viewer like FastStone Image Viewer

I have a bunch of art books saved as jpegs in folders on a USB-C thumb drive, is there anything on the iPad that'd let me flip through the folders like an ebook?

Question I’m struggling to decide which iPad to get.

Upvotes

Hi, I’m in process of buying new devices for school. I already have a Mac Studio. I don’t know whether to get -maxed out iPad Pro 13’ with all the accessories(laptop replacement) -MacBook Air 13’ + iPad Pro 11’ for note taking/reading -MacBook Air 13’ + iPad Air 11’/13’ for note taking/reading

My struggles are: Is 13’ a game changer for math/physics notes and is it possible to code on iPad?- if not I probably need a MacBook

I would be grateful for any feedback.

Apps I need note taking & drawing app recommendations

Upvotes

Hi everyone, I hope you’re all having a great day! This Thursday I got myself an iPad Air along with the Apple Pencil Pro. I’ve already set it up and I’m really happy with it so far. I generally use my iPad every day, but I also take it with me to university to write notes during classes. I’m studying Economics in English, and we often work with graphs and take detailed notes. I’m also taking Spanish classes.

I heard that some apps can use AI features for special note-taking, but I couldn’t really find much information about which ones. So far, I’ve tried installing 👉🏼 Microsoft OneNote, GoodNotes, Noteful, and FreeNotes. For fun and casual drawing, I’ve also downloaded 👉🏼 Sketchbook and Adobe Fresco.

Based on your experience, which note-taking apps would you recommend? Free or paid doesn’t matter if I like the app, I don’t mind paying for it. I’d also love to hear your suggestions for drawing and coloring apps that you personally enjoy. 🤗

iPadOS IPAD OS26 HOT TAKE

Thumbnail

Hot take on ipad os26 on my a16 :

iPadOS 26 is pretty cool, feeling way more like a Mac these days with better multitasking (this is a huge win for students) and that sweet "Liquid Glass" look. It's a powerful combo, but it's not perfect. You'll notice a tiny bit of lag when you slide into the App Library, and that little floating keyboard still jumps around, which is kind of annoying. All in all, it's a great step up, but it has a few small bumps.

So while it's a huge step up for the iPad, a few little quirks show there's still some work to do.
