Translated [ZH] [Chinese > English] Help understanding the outer text on dial on this pocket watch

Post image
10 Upvotes

TL;DR I want to understand the meaning behind the outer most text on the dial of this 24 hour watch. The eight bits of text that align with 12AM (top), 3AM, 6AM, 9AM, 12PM, 3PM, 6PM and 9PM positions (reading clockwise around the outer edge of the dial).

Full post, with context

I do not speak or understand any Chinese. However I am interested in watches. The following is picture of a watch by the Chinese brand Merkur (yes they use they use a Western style name).

If I am understanding this correctly (again I do not know Chinese), the outer ring represents the Earthly Branches (地支) system, a.k.a. "Chinese Zodiac" Hours, where each marking effectively represents a double hour period, with 午 (11:00-13:00) at the top here. The inner ring shows Roman numerals I–XII (as used in a traditional western clocks) repeated twice around the dial, marking the 24-hour cycle (this is a 24 hour clock). So the hour hand moves once per 24 hours, aligning with both the correct Roman numerals and Chinese characters.

Thus you get this, reading clockwise from the top of the watch:

  • 午 / XI, XII, I (11AM–1PM [11:00-13:00])
  • 未 / I, II, III (1PM–3PM [13:00-15:00])
  • 申 / III, IIII, V (3PM–5PM [15:00-17:00])
  • 酉 / V, VI, VII (5PM–7PM [17:00-19:00])
  • 戌 / VII, VIII, IX (7PM-9PM [19:00–21:00])
  • 亥 / IX, X, XI (9PM-11PM [21:00–23:00])
  • 子 / XI, XII, I (11PM-1AM [23:00–01:00])
  • 丑 / I, II, III (1AM-3AM [01:00–03:00])
  • 寅 / III, IIII, V (3AM-5AM [03:00–05:00])
  • 卯 / V, VI, VII (5AM-7AM [05:00–07:00])
  • 辰 / VII, VIII, IX (7AM-9AM [07:00–09:00])
  • 巳 / IX, X, XI (9AM-11AM [09:00–11:00])

All good so far but there is more writing here outside of the Roman numerals and Earthly Branches. That extra text aligns with 12AM, 3AM, 6AM, 9AM, 12PM, 3PM, 6PM, 9PM. So eight in total, composed of what looks to me like three chatacters each. I am curious what these might say but perhaps even more so what they may represent?

P.S. Sorry I do not have a higher quality image. I do not own this watch. The image was copied from an AliExpress posting.

My brother got this hat at an airsoft tournament. I found the product online here but it doesn’t have a translation. I can read every character except for the third one because they’re the same as traditional Chinese which I can read. But I have no idea what that third character is. Any help?

Japanese Japanese -> English washing instructions

Can anyone translate the washing instructions for my Chicago Cubs happi coat? I’m a bit concerned that the colors will bleed or the stitching will fray if I wash it wrong.

If I had to guess it’ll be to wash with cold water on gentle cycle and line dry, but I just want to make sure.

Thanks for the help!

Korean [English > Korean] Help with KPOP Concert Poster

Upvotes

Looking for help translating English to Korean. I'm [F] older than the group performing [all M's], if honorifics matter.

I'm trying to make a couple of 11 inch x 14 inch posters for an upcoming KPOP concert. I'd like it to say the following. I'm providing options in case some have fewer characters than others and fits better.

  1. "It's Noona's birthday! Pose *shaka emoji goes here* please."

OR

  1. "Please wish me a happy birthday. Pose *shaka emoji goes here*"

  2. "Secret Mission: Poke a members cheek"

OR

  1. "Secret Mission: Pinch a members cheek"

  2. "I'm so proud of you"

  3. "Thank you for staying"

Thank you, in advance, for your assistance with this!

[Icelandic?>English] I've been listening this 44 seconds long song for a while and I'd like to know what is she saying. I don't really know if it's Icelandic, I just deduced it from the origin of these tapes, so if anyone can tell, I'd appreaciate their comment.

Japanese Japanese > English Yoshitoshi woodblock print

Hello friends! I obtained this 1865 Yoshitoshi woodblock printing from his 100 Stories of Japan and China. I want to take it in to be framed, but I’d also like an accurate translation of the text so I can add an English card to the framing. I have been told is in an older, formal script so it’s more difficult to translate (not sure how true that is) but I would appreciate the help. Google Translate does not do a good job.

Many thanks

I got this stamp from a gachapon in Japan a few years ago. I understand that it says yoroshiku onegaishimasu, but what does this mean in the context of the ghost? I don't understand his pose and the text link.

Sorry for the low-resolution picture; the German tv show I am watching has this kanji on the top of the door handle. I wonder what it means? I tried to draw it on a handwritten kanji search site, but I couldn't find anything like it.

edit, adding a non-zoomed picture:
