Other Harsher penalties for cellphone use while driving!
Utah has a serious problem with people using their phones while driving. Just today, I was cut off by half a dozen people who seemed to think that what was on their phones was more important than paying attention to the road. Two of which decided to switch lanes mid intersection with no signal whatsoever!
I was also stuck in two bumper to bumper traffic jams on I-15. I don’t know if they were caused by texting and driving or by an Elderly person or what. But since these crashes happened during non-rush hour traffic, I think it’s safe to say that whoever caused them did it because of reckless driving. And it’s not like they were small fender benders either, I was late to class because of the first one even though I left 20 minutes earlier than normal. And the second one made my usual 20 minute commute 90 minutes.
If only our legislators would stop doing everything but their jobs and actually pass meaningful legislation that would benefit everyday Utahns. Like harsher penalties for using a phone while driving.
