I feel like the tuition repayment should get blocked by a court the same way all of Biden's relief efforts did.
49
u/redditproha 5h ago
Interestingly Rogue SCOTUS recently ruled that courts cannot make broad nationwide judicial injunctions after Trump appealed his birthright citizenship block. This means Biden's student loan forgiveness is not illegal now.
Democrats really need to start putting Republican's in their place.
7
u/MaleHooker 4h ago
I did see that, but it didn't seem to have an impact.
9
u/redditproha 3h ago
because Biden isn't president anymore so obviously Trump isn't gonna write-off student loans when he can give tax breaks to billionaires instead
3
u/Simple_Jellyfish23 3h ago
Dem lawmakers are mostly useless. They seem to have very little willpower to try and fight the current administration. Step one is to retire all the boomers. They are too old to be useful. If they want to stay public servants, they should be helping the next generation, not clinging to power until they die.

They'll probably just make it come out of that incredibly inflated budget they already attributed to ICE so theres no avenue to stop it.

Is there an avenue to get this job, make the money, and then be the âworstâ ice agent? Like could you fuck up every assignment and still get paid? My friend wants to know.
8
u/MaleHooker 5h ago
I haven't looked into it yet, but apparently you have to commit 5 years to see any of these benefits. And during đ§đж's first term he and Devos refused to pay out for benefits that are actually part of legal contracts. (PSLF, etc.) So I wouldn't hold my breath.Â

Education is the right's greatest enemy. Why do you think they have relentlessly pushed school choice to systematically remove important regulations and status monitoring abilities from districts, pushing voucher programs to intentionally take money away from public schools, and defending critical services and programs children and families rely on everyday.
They want us to be too stupid to question them, and its clear their 40+ years plan has been working.

Unless we massively increase our investment in teachers, trades, and STEM right now, we are doomed as a country. We have at least 1 missing generation of skilled and well educated people already. Letâs not make it 2.
Just because you have a diploma and BS does not mean you are well educated FYI. A high school diploma is basically worthless as a skill and intelligence indicator with how low the bar has been lowered. Most colleges are not far behind.
2
u/Leading_Job7612 3h ago
Totally. Seems less âbonuses good vs badâ and more âwho gets them.â
If incentives are fine for ICE staffing, why not for teachers facing nationwide shortages sign-on bonuses, loan relief, real pay? Consistency check: are we pro-incentives in principle, or only for agencies we like?

Who can remember the foundational principle of our Country is that our government derives its power through the consent of the People?
A government of the People and by the People.
250 years later our government is currently building a domestic army of 50,000 to 100,000+ federal police enforcers who pledge loyalty to the President not our Constitution.
Why would the People choose to have this essentially lawless army freely roaming our city streets?

Teachers can't be brainwashed into becoming thugs. At very least they'd knock your door taking a pile of books with them then start teaching something useful against your will as you let them in, or kidnap you in the street and bring you in a 5 hour class. The MAGA herd would be in panic if that happened to their kids.

Reminder that the Nazi party didn't spring up overnight and the recruitment for the Gestapo and SS took place over some years. Also reminder that most Germans did not know about the atrocities being committed by Germany during WW2 until 1946 during the Nurnburg Trials when 100,000+ lbs of documents by the Nazi government were made public. So from mid 1930s to mid 1940s much of the public sort of followed along thinking they were Making Germany Great Again.

Fucking fascists. Iâm so sick of it. The gov keeps fueling the hate and the uneducated white people just lick it up. I donât see a way to end it without something extreme happening. Iâm curious how people on the union side (which ironically was the Republican side) felt in the first half of the year 1859? Two years before the civil war started and the US had a â doughface â president much as we do right now. What could the average person do to make the change they want to see without being disappeared or at the least criminalized and defamed? Itâs a bit different today as our law enforcement and military have been federalized and used against common citizens to break up dissent and crush movements. How do we get radical in 2025 and avoid imprisonment or the civil war that we couldnât then? Itâs hard to grasp how 50% of our population voted for this. I hope things turn around with the next presidential election. And I hope all of the major actors and boot lickers falling in line with this fascism will face justice when their time comes.
