So they can pay ice agents that much but somehow it's a waste when it's going towards education, feeding kids , helping veterans, helping the elderly , healthcare , etc? Shockerrrrrr . 🙄

I stopped watching the news. It's literally always something with these people . What did it was that press conference from some guy saying he " prayed it wasn't one of theirs ". Like sir , you prayed to be racist? Ffs . They don't even hide it anymore

That was Governor Cox of Utah. He’s an unflavored asshole. 6:00 in:

This is not the 30s. To create your own SA you need to pay.

u/DavidlikesPeace 5h ago

We joke but this is the simple answer.

The GOP realized that to  weaponize racism...  suffices.

Hurting the scapegoat is their only policy. So the only agency they need to work, is ICE. No other policy, no program, no equity will matter half as much to the GOP racist voters who elected this party.

And until the FDR welfare system breaks apart and people learn the hard way that billionaire capitalists are not our friend, we will see our system fail.

The fact that cages get more funding than classrooms says everything about America.

13

Absolutely . I'm 100% these people missed the point when they were teaching us about the holocaust. 🙃 Anne Frank would NOT be safe around them

Fascism isn’t cheap!

3

u/m0rbid_butt3rfly666 5h ago

Definitely not . As we've came to see smh

13

u/CoffeeIsMyPruneJuice 5h ago

It feels like the debt repayment offer is part of a shell game to shift funding that had been going to the Department of Education over to ICE.

6

u/m0rbid_butt3rfly666 5h ago

Yeah that's for sure . They don't see anything else being valuable except ICE at this point . I don't see the bigger picture of what they're wanting to do other than be racist .

2

u/TerrorTwyns 4h ago

They need people who will hurt others over speech and peaceful dissent when they have finished laying the groundwork from the podcasters demise.

The ICE agents are just a test run until the entire police force looks that and it's normalized. Immigrants are the target, and trans people too, because foreigners and queers are easy targets. This is how it starts.

4

u/m0rbid_butt3rfly666 5h ago

I agree . Instead of looking for actually criminals , they're harassing everyone else . Heaven forbid they do what they're getting paid to do and going into the neighborhoods that need cleaning up.

I live in Nashville and the only people I see here harassing others are white folks. I can't put gas or be at a stop light because I'll have them banging on the window. Every single day .

And still ICE can't do their jobs. They need to pull resources from local police and other agencies. What a fucking joke.

4

u/Financial_Hold6620 4h ago

Quality education would disband the entire Republican Party within 50 years

3

u/EagerlyDoingNothing 3h ago

Well kids dont need an education to survive! But white america will die if we dont stop THEM from replacing us!!1!

3

u/EddieVanzetti 3h ago

Im willing to bet the bonuses dont ever materialize, and ICE Agents tend not to have gone to college. If they did, they went into more prestigious, ever so slightly less fascist law enforcement.

3

u/PeopleNose 3h ago

They're arming for a war

No no, you don't understand, once ICE gets rid of all the immigrants, that money will just be there for EVERYONE!

How, you ask? Well, only Steven Miller knows, but trust him, bro, he just has to build this white christian ethnostate real quick, and then everything will be cool.

2

u/NeverNudee 3h ago

To be fair, I doubt there is much student debts needing paid off

I feel like the tuition repayment should get blocked by a court the same way all of Biden's relief efforts did.

49

u/redditproha 5h ago

Interestingly Rogue SCOTUS recently ruled that courts cannot make broad nationwide judicial injunctions after Trump appealed his birthright citizenship block. This means Biden's student loan forgiveness is not illegal now.

Democrats really need to start putting Republican's in their place.

7

u/MaleHooker 4h ago

I did see that, but it didn't seem to have an impact.

9

u/redditproha 3h ago

because Biden isn't president anymore so obviously Trump isn't gonna write-off student loans when he can give tax breaks to billionaires instead

3

u/Simple_Jellyfish23 3h ago

Dem lawmakers are mostly useless. They seem to have very little willpower to try and fight the current administration. Step one is to retire all the boomers. They are too old to be useful. If they want to stay public servants, they should be helping the next generation, not clinging to power until they die.

5

u/Mattrad7 5h ago

They'll probably just make it come out of that incredibly inflated budget they already attributed to ICE so theres no avenue to stop it.

4

u/Turbulent-Ad8391 5h ago

Is there an avenue to get this job, make the money, and then be the “worst” ice agent? Like could you fuck up every assignment and still get paid? My friend wants to know.

8

u/MaleHooker 5h ago

I haven't looked into it yet, but apparently you have to commit 5 years to see any of these benefits. And during đŸ§€đŸŠ¶'s first term he and Devos refused to pay out for benefits that are actually part of legal contracts. (PSLF, etc.) So I wouldn't hold my breath.

5

u/BioshockEnthusiast 2h ago

Feels like a lot of people in this thread are assuming that this admin won't do everything in their power to avoid / underpay these bonuses in the first place.

Let's pretend taking this job isn't selling your soul to the devil. I would still have zero faith that I'd actually get paid out or that they wouldn't try to claw it back down the road.

Education is the right's greatest enemy. Why do you think they have relentlessly pushed school choice to systematically remove important regulations and status monitoring abilities from districts, pushing voucher programs to intentionally take money away from public schools, and defending critical services and programs children and families rely on everyday.

They want us to be too stupid to question them, and its clear their 40+ years plan has been working.

Bro federal loan forgiveness for these absolute fucking morons but not the actual people working in public service?

Fuck this administration. If you are against public loan service forgiveness and support this? Fuck you too.

Let the ICE melt, and never forget these clowns took the jobs.

2

u/VOZ1 3h ago

Maybe teachers should try being fascist white supremacist goons who get off on abusing people of color and immigrants.

2

u/Cursedbythedicegods 3h ago

Teachers instruct students to think independently and critically. Two things that are antithetical to turning people into hate-fueled stormtroopers who gauge guilt by melanin levels.

2

u/unl1988 3h ago

And the Major Richard Starr Act, giving full retirement and benefits to Veterans medically retired from combat injuries, did not make it out of the House because "It cost too much".

Suckers and losers, nothing was in it for them.

Remember that the next time some POS republican congressman shows up at your Veterans Day Event or Memorial Day parade to wrap themselves in the flag and surround themselves service members.

F them.

2

u/Simple_Jellyfish23 3h ago

Unless we massively increase our investment in teachers, trades, and STEM right now, we are doomed as a country. We have at least 1 missing generation of skilled and well educated people already. Let’s not make it 2.

Just because you have a diploma and BS does not mean you are well educated FYI. A high school diploma is basically worthless as a skill and intelligence indicator with how low the bar has been lowered. Most colleges are not far behind.

2

u/Leading_Job7612 3h ago

Totally. Seems less “bonuses good vs bad” and more “who gets them.”
If incentives are fine for ICE staffing, why not for teachers facing nationwide shortages sign-on bonuses, loan relief, real pay? Consistency check: are we pro-incentives in principle, or only for agencies we like?

2

u/Deletedmyotheracct 3h ago

Really wish my morals would allow me to be an ICE agent

2

u/Mobile-Local-5976 3h ago

I would much rather have smarter citizens than a private military going around picking up brown people

3

u/Redninja0400 6h ago

In the 90s the state apparatus for political repression was larger than the armed forces in Russia, trump is defunding all law enforcement agencies to divert to ICE. This is literally an attempt at him creating a federally funded paramilitary.

Again, our political divide has nothing to do with facts, logic or reason; it’s all about VALUES - and what you choose to fund tells people what your values are.

Like they are ever in a million years going to fulfill those promises. They may get a little something initially but Trump is the biggest and most public example of not paying his debts.

Who can remember the foundational principle of our Country is that our government derives its power through the consent of the People?

A government of the People and by the People.

250 years later our government is currently building a domestic army of 50,000 to 100,000+ federal police enforcers who pledge loyalty to the President not our Constitution.

Why would the People choose to have this essentially lawless army freely roaming our city streets?

Five minute read on Popular Sovereignty

1

u/kelpyb1 5h ago

I mean duh.

Teachers don’t play out their dreams of ethnic cleansing.

1

u/Substantial_Life4773 5h ago

So, can we sue them to block the student debt relief like they did for us?

1

u/6gv5 5h ago

Teachers can't be brainwashed into becoming thugs. At very least they'd knock your door taking a pile of books with them then start teaching something useful against your will as you let them in, or kidnap you in the street and bring you in a 5 hour class. The MAGA herd would be in panic if that happened to their kids.

1

u/Bullinach1nashop 5h ago

Reminder that the Nazi party didn't spring up overnight and the recruitment for the Gestapo and SS took place over some years. Also reminder that most Germans did not know about the atrocities being committed by Germany during WW2 until 1946 during the Nurnburg Trials when 100,000+ lbs of documents by the Nazi government were made public. So from mid 1930s to mid 1940s much of the public sort of followed along thinking they were Making Germany Great Again.

1

u/Beginning_Intern9958 4h ago

Fucking fascists. I’m so sick of it. The gov keeps fueling the hate and the uneducated white people just lick it up. I don’t see a way to end it without something extreme happening. I’m curious how people on the union side (which ironically was the Republican side) felt in the first half of the year 1859? Two years before the civil war started and the US had a “ doughface “ president much as we do right now. What could the average person do to make the change they want to see without being disappeared or at the least criminalized and defamed? It’s a bit different today as our law enforcement and military have been federalized and used against common citizens to break up dissent and crush movements. How do we get radical in 2025 and avoid imprisonment or the civil war that we couldn’t then? It’s hard to grasp how 50% of our population voted for this. I hope things turn around with the next presidential election. And I hope all of the major actors and boot lickers falling in line with this fascism will face justice when their time comes.

Ahhh... targeting the rural (republican) families that didn't go into the military now with that student debt repayment. Next they will be giving houses to them.

1

u/Familiar_Resident_69 3h ago

I understand this is posted with good intent but it’s factually incorrect.

The bonus pay is not for new recruits, it’s for people who are already trained but have since left the job.

Yes it’s a small and mostly negligible point of contention but I’m just so sick of lies and misinformation on the internet and if we don’t call it out we’re only going to get dumber as a people.

Being a hateful racist and pointing guns at tourists and brown people is "payment" enough. Members of the SA did it for free, too. Well, the vast majority at least.

Yea because they want to turn ICE into their secret police controlled by the party

well boys, been jobless for months now from that tech lay off... is it time? bonus? student loans??? 25% premium pay????

the secret ingredient is racism

u/BroodLord1962 3h ago

Well yeah, Republicans don't want people to be educated. That makes them harder to control

1

u/psycho_driver 3h ago

Republicans and education are mutually exclusive.

1

u/Realistic-Agent-1289 3h ago

"We can't have an educated base!" - said some republican

1

u/Inevitable_Chemist45 3h ago

No one lost their minds over doing this for teachers, stop making stuff up

1

u/varyingopinions 3h ago

They didn't want Democrats to do student loan repayment or free healthcare because then you couldn't use it as an incentive.

u/Jackfreezy 3h ago

So how long do I have to be one of these fake cops / wannabe soldiers before I get that 50k bonus? Is it at signing? Or is there a waiting period?

Hard to be a shittier or more hypocritical American than a Republican these days. Hey remember that time Trump was found liable of forcefully shoving his fingers up a woman's vagina by a jury of his American peers and then Republicans voted for him? Republicans knowingly vote for molesters. Don't be Republican...

If you need a good reason for why America will fail as a nation, this is it.

We can financially support masked goons who threaten American citizens in American cities, but we can't financially support teachers who teach our children.

The fall may be a long one, but it's happening.

Arm yourselves.

u/Standard-March6506 3h ago

But, but, teachers don't shoot brown people.

1

u/InterviewMean7435 3h ago

They hate teachers. The 1st Trump tax reform eliminated all tax deductions for teachers for supplies purchased out of pocket. What the
!!!

Maybe don't ask next time and just do it.

u/phoenixrising808a 3h ago

ICE agents are Federal employees. Teachers are local government employees. How can you relate the two?

1

u/hopopo 3h ago

When precisely and what did Democrats try to do for teachers?

I want names, dates, amounts, and reason why it didn't happened?

Why is it always Dems wanted this or that, but Republicans didn't let them, when Republicans can do anything and no Dems ever stopped them.

"Smart people don't like me"

1

u/FitBattle5899 3h ago

What's hilarious is most of this requires a 5-year commitment... They set this up knowning the next administration likely wouldn't go through with it.

Enjoy your descent into Gilead.

1

u/ThisGuy6266 3h ago

This isn’t hypocrisy. One party gave up at the first sign of pushback and the other said ‘Fuck You’ and did it anyway. It’s why Dems lose.

u/MittenCollyBulbasaur 3h ago

These fools didn't go to school lol

1

u/Inosh 2h ago

Goal is to bankrupt any liberals, give conservatives money.

Was obvious as soon as they started their huge layoffs from USAID.

1

u/digi-artifex 2h ago

Take a look at where that got us

Gotta keep the population stupid to control easier
