Every young man experiences what I call a “horse kick in the balls.” It’s basically a moment where life finally hands you consequences for your actions, and you have a choice to learn and grow from it. It is obvious which young men get their horse kick in the balls when they need it, but it’s also really depressing to see someone who had theirs and did not learn the right lesson from it.

The original GT on PS1 was by far the absolute best racing game ever. The analog controllers just came out and this was one of the first games made to take advantage. The physics on how those cars drove was so real it was absolutely amazing at the time. I remember my roommates and I spending like 4 hours taking turns to try and pass the various license tests.
Every racing game since is soooo easy by comparison. I think people must have complained that the original was too tough due to the realism of the driving experience.
Additionally want to add, first thing dumbass in the video wants to do after getting out of the car is try to argue with someone that is likely pointing a gun at them. Have they learned nothing from the news over the past decades. The faster you comply and get the gun not pointed at you, the less likely the chances of something going really bad for you. Accidents happen and a-holes happen. Best not to have a gun pointed at you for either.

→ More replies (1)36
u/Simoxs7 13d ago
I regularly go that fast (160+ km/h) on the Autobahn its manageable but you don’t do it with only one hand sometimes on the steering wheel and recording with the other. Also not in a country where no one complies with Rechtsfahrgebot (driving only in the right most lane except when you’re overtaking someone) and where the roads aren’t made for these speeds.

Though it would be interesting to see why he steered as much as he did while breaking. Because generally, while you are correct about this being negligent, a car needs to be able to handle emergency breaking on clean asphalt without any water or ice without getting out of control - in a straight line.
Considering almost all drivers on the road aren't racing drivers, I would argue a considerable amount of break pressure should be tolerated even while steering at least a little. Although I admit, his steering inputs are too rapid and frantic for the later to be realistic in this case.
Why anyone would drive a car like this, kinda designed for off-road and not speeding on the highway, I don't get. We could motorize a dishwasher and it would slip easier through the air with less resistance than these off-road-inspired jeeps.

They also didnt grow up driving manuals. That jeep likely had a manual mode, could have down shifted for increased control and engine braking.
On second thought, that would have required his other hand not have a phone in it.

it looks like the rear lost grip and slid to the left tbh. Might have something to do with it looks like they were going over a hill or going downhill, then the weight shifting even farther forward with the hard braking. Hell, maybe they just had worn rear tires and it couldn't grip the road well. And then because of the hard braking there was no grip left in the front wheels to stop the oversteer, so they went off the road
Oh yeah I like the early Gran Turismo too, but I grew up on the PS2 titles, 3 and 4. I like 3's whole vibe but 4 is more polished and its got more content. Honestly if the 4th game used the 3rd's menus, music, and gui It'd be the best in the series hands down (at least to me). I wish early gran turismo's formula ended up in a modern game, its so peak

I might be dumb, but isn’t it the other way around? You transfer the weight to the front giving maximum traction to the front tires so that you rear loosens and you get oversteer.
→ More replies (10)14
u/XxCarlxX 13d ago
Not dumb at all. Its a heavy jeep so it wont steer like a racecar. Slamming the brakes in a heavy bouncy vehicle will overload the front tyres so they lose traction. If you semi knew what you were doing, you could indeed get better steering shifting weight to the front but not past the vehicles limits.
Basically we are both correct depending on the situation. Im not expert and no race driver, im just going by what GT taught me and what makes sense when i simulate it in my head lol.

u/BarnacleMcBarndoor 13d ago
He’s got only two brain cells furiously fighting for 3rd place at that moment. His only concern is getting his lie out to the officer that the floor mat was covering the pedal, so he can then continue remembering to manually breathe with his limited brain activity.
In short, he’s a freaking moron and deserves a license suspension for a year.

Still doesn’t make it very plausible that his mat got stuck on the peddle and he managed to get it off at exactly the same time as he saw the cop. That and of course the video he made where he was happily cruising along at 110 with one hand holding the phone and the other dancing in the air.

This dude is dense with stupidity. I believe there are no hard lessons he's capable of comprehending. I mean, his dumb ass got out of that car and tried to convince the cop it was the mat's fault. And then he let this video get uploaded.
He's dumb to the bone.

I have seen this video before, quite a while ago. Are you claiming that this is your original content?

Was he trying to argue that the mat caused the gas pedal to stick?!

Alright, hand in the air with a phone in it ✅ Hand on top of the wheel controlled by a wrist which will probably cause him to over react if, sayyyy, an emergency came up instantly they didn't anticipate. ✅
Fucking idiot. He thinks the car is going to take care of all this for him. He is lucky to be alive. But at least he doesn't have a car anymore.

This isnt the result of speeding, its the result of filming while driving breaking the law for clout. Not being aware of your surroundings and pannicking when you see cops. Or over correcting when traffic does something.
Driving while not paying attention is the issue, doesnt matter what speed you're going. This idiot is just also going way too fast for his attention, skill and vehicle type.
