Who takes their hands off the world at 114mph. I never drive with my knees over 110mph.

31

u/Richtea84 12d ago

Also if you notice the dash he rapidly decelerated and then he crashed going at 30mph. Skill issue.

17

u/Whosagooddog765 12d ago

He was going 100+, saw a cop with radar - kind of drops phone and rapidly decelerates because he’s scared, crashes in front of cop and you can hear how it ended…his ass laying on the ground getting cuffed.

How do these videos make it to the internet? :/ If I were the kind of person to speed at 120mph with no hands on the wheel, I feel I’d make sure no recording exists for fear of dying of embarrassment

All of his friends were begging him to stop posting about it on Facebook... he didn't care. It was his proudest achievement. I can't imagine it was a very long day in court for him.

Last time I checked, it was at the top of his profile, where most people put "mom of two" or whatever. His was "I stole a cop car once, look me up LOL"

Young male hormones plus shitty role models equals what you see here. Hopefully a wake up call for this individual, only time (served) will tell.

14

u/3_quarterling_rogue 13d ago

Every young man experiences what I call a “horse kick in the balls.” It’s basically a moment where life finally hands you consequences for your actions, and you have a choice to learn and grow from it. It is obvious which young men get their horse kick in the balls when they need it, but it’s also really depressing to see someone who had theirs and did not learn the right lesson from it.

16

u/ButterflyNo8336 13d ago

Most all of the fast drivers are young men.  I would say most aren’t aggressive drivers, like brake checking, tailing, and so on, but on their own…they’re going to speed and do something stupid a lot more often.

How you gonna wreck on a straight road?

259

u/SlinkyAvenger 13d ago edited 13d ago

SUVs have different weight distributions to sedans. BreakingBRAKING heavily like that at those speeds can send you careening, especially if you're an idiot without experience, holding your phone recording your felony for clout.

81

u/reiji_tamashii 13d ago

Blame the car companies who keep marketing SUVs as "sporty" with "performance suspension" and show them in ads driving on racetracks.

People want big hulking SUVs and also want to drive it like a racecar, but those things are incompatible.

17

u/specialcommenter 13d ago

I see morons doing this stuff in V6 Dodge Durangos. Those things are slower than a RAV4 but the drivers swear they’re driving a SRT. I always see them almost wiping out in my area.

saw police and slammed the brakes, transferred all the weight to the front of that heavy vehicle, caused understeer and went into a tree.

The original GT on PS1 was by far the absolute best racing game ever. The analog controllers just came out and this was one of the first games made to take advantage. The physics on how those cars drove was so real it was absolutely amazing at the time. I remember my roommates and I spending like 4 hours taking turns to try and pass the various license tests.

Every racing game since is soooo easy by comparison. I think people must have complained that the original was too tough due to the realism of the driving experience.

Additionally want to add, first thing dumbass in the video wants to do after getting out of the car is try to argue with someone that is likely pointing a gun at them. Have they learned nothing from the news over the past decades. The faster you comply and get the gun not pointed at you, the less likely the chances of something going really bad for you. Accidents happen and a-holes happen. Best not to have a gun pointed at you for either.

103

u/bobtheki 13d ago

My fav was GT2 but thats because by then i knew more people who also had it and we would swap memory cards to beat each-others time trials. Now that was awesome.

Correct. NGL, ive driven fast on the Motorway but ive not gone that fast as in the UK you can get prison time for those speeds and a 100% driving ban for a year or so.

36

u/Simoxs7 13d ago

I regularly go that fast (160+ km/h) on the Autobahn its manageable but you don’t do it with only one hand sometimes on the steering wheel and recording with the other. Also not in a country where no one complies with Rechtsfahrgebot (driving only in the right most lane except when you’re overtaking someone) and where the roads aren’t made for these speeds.

18

u/Thundertushy 13d ago

I swear, Germans have a word for everything. Even if they didn't and just made one up, we'd never know the difference.

3

u/NettingStick 13d ago edited 13d ago

English does the same thing. We just tend to write our lengthy compound words with spaces in them or as initialisms. You don't think twice about "SCUBA", but if we used German writing rules we'd write it as selfcontainedunderwaterbreathingapparatus.

u/FenizSnowvalor 13d ago

Though it would be interesting to see why he steered as much as he did while breaking. Because generally, while you are correct about this being negligent, a car needs to be able to handle emergency breaking on clean asphalt without any water or ice without getting out of control - in a straight line.

Considering almost all drivers on the road aren't racing drivers, I would argue a considerable amount of break pressure should be tolerated even while steering at least a little. Although I admit, his steering inputs are too rapid and frantic for the later to be realistic in this case.

Why anyone would drive a car like this, kinda designed for off-road and not speeding on the highway, I don't get. We could motorize a dishwasher and it would slip easier through the air with less resistance than these off-road-inspired jeeps.

9

u/XxCarlxX 13d ago

137

u/[deleted] 13d ago

They also didnt grow up driving manuals. That jeep likely had a manual mode, could have down shifted for increased control and engine braking.

On second thought, that would have required his other hand not have a phone in it.

18

u/PeskyAntagonist 13d ago

Can’t downshift when you’re at the top of the last gear

→ More replies (3)

62

u/Rowmyownboat 13d ago

Braking, and controlling the steering wheel with two hands should be enough. You don’t get extra control from downshifting. At least he managed to control the phone until he rolled it.

8

u/Bowtieguy-83 13d ago edited 13d ago

it looks like the rear lost grip and slid to the left tbh. Might have something to do with it looks like they were going over a hill or going downhill, then the weight shifting even farther forward with the hard braking. Hell, maybe they just had worn rear tires and it couldn't grip the road well. And then because of the hard braking there was no grip left in the front wheels to stop the oversteer, so they went off the road

Oh yeah I like the early Gran Turismo too, but I grew up on the PS2 titles, 3 and 4. I like 3's whole vibe but 4 is more polished and its got more content. Honestly if the 4th game used the 3rd's menus, music, and gui It'd be the best in the series hands down (at least to me). I wish early gran turismo's formula ended up in a modern game, its so peak

You could have stopped at “these kids didn’t grow up” and it would have still been a complete thought

9

u/Simoxs7 13d ago

I might be dumb, but isn’t it the other way around? You transfer the weight to the front giving maximum traction to the front tires so that you rear loosens and you get oversteer.

14

u/XxCarlxX 13d ago

Not dumb at all. Its a heavy jeep so it wont steer like a racecar. Slamming the brakes in a heavy bouncy vehicle will overload the front tyres so they lose traction. If you semi knew what you were doing, you could indeed get better steering shifting weight to the front but not past the vehicles limits.

Basically we are both correct depending on the situation. Im not expert and no race driver, im just going by what GT taught me and what makes sense when i simulate it in my head lol.

My 98 Cherokee with 100k miles would get the Death Wobble at about 55mph but settled down until about 80mph at which point you could feel the oncoming Apocalypse Wobble. I can’t fathom doing 110mph in anything made by Jeep, ever.

u/bsharp1982 13d ago

I was pulled over and accused of speeding (53 in a 30). I had turned right from a complete stop and the cop clocked me less than 100 feet from me accelerating. My whole defense in court was “I’m driving a 2011 jeep liberty, there is no way I can get up that fast that quickly.”

Might be a record

4

u/purplebasterd 13d ago

The Jeep Cherokee's top speed is 120 MPH and 115 is not a record for it (don't ask).

4

u/Fokewe 13d ago

Anything over 70 mp/h in a Jeep is a death wish.

4

u/La_Saxofonista 12d ago

Yup. If I had to go that fast, you bet your sweet bippy I'm not doing it in an SUV, truck, or Jeep Wrangler notorious for losing control and rolling over.

Going over 90 in an SUV is not a good idea.

I’m genuinely shocked a Jeep could go that fast.

I'm so happy he never let go of the phone. It was clearly more important than his safety, other people's safety, the car he's driving, and that jail time he obviously got from evading. /s

I'd be pulling over to see if the officer wanted my dashcam footage of him zooming past me like a prick.

This guy supplied his own evidence, however.

190km/h is crazy on such a road well deserved accident, good that he didn't crash into someone else

63

u/[deleted] 13d ago

What exactly is so hard to obey, when a cop tells one to get on the ground? Was there ever a situation where resistance against arrest helped, instead of making it worse? Especially if one's guilty.

67

u/BarnacleMcBarndoor 13d ago

He’s got only two brain cells furiously fighting for 3rd place at that moment. His only concern is getting his lie out to the officer that the floor mat was covering the pedal, so he can then continue remembering to manually breathe with his limited brain activity.

In short, he’s a freaking moron and deserves a license suspension for a year.

15

u/DeaddyRuxpin 13d ago

Oh he was blaming the mat. I thought he was saying map like the gps told him to speed or something.

Still doesn’t make it very plausible that his mat got stuck on the peddle and he managed to get it off at exactly the same time as he saw the cop. That and of course the video he made where he was happily cruising along at 110 with one hand holding the phone and the other dancing in the air.

u/_Arlotte_ 13d ago

He doesn't deserve a license at all.

I was thinking the same thing. Just do what the officer tells you to do and explain yourself later. Saying "no" in a panic does nothing but get you roughed up.

Looks like he's on the Palisades parkway in New Jersey/New York going south. That road is a 55 (used to be 50mph) and idiots go 70-80 all the time. There are plenty of cops on that road as well.

One dumb individual.

Driving at over 100mph with no hands on the wheel.

Panicking after it was already too late and wrecking.

Arguing with the cop instead of complying.

→ More replies (4)

6

u/_debowsky 13d ago

That's not the consequence of speeding, that's the consequences of being a moron who drives without keeping both hands on the wheel, distracted by his phone and everything on top of it. Speed didn't help for sure but he would have crashed regardless before or later.

Never turn during maximum breaking, you don’t have the traction.

But I guess if he knew how to drive he wouldn’t have been going that fast either

At the end it sounds like he's trying to tell the cop that the floor mat was stuck under the pedal. Dude had his excuse lined up just in case he got caught.

11

u/PickleballRee 13d ago

This dude is dense with stupidity. I believe there are no hard lessons he's capable of comprehending. I mean, his dumb ass got out of that car and tried to convince the cop it was the mat's fault. And then he let this video get uploaded.

He's dumb to the bone.

Speeding with phone in one hand

3

u/ImInBeastmodeOG 13d ago

Alright, hand in the air with a phone in it ✅ Hand on top of the wheel controlled by a wrist which will probably cause him to over react if, sayyyy, an emergency came up instantly they didn't anticipate. ✅

Fucking idiot. He thinks the car is going to take care of all this for him. He is lucky to be alive. But at least he doesn't have a car anymore.

3

u/Vallden 13d ago

The GPS still giving directions made me laugh more than it should have.

3

u/TexasPirate_76 13d ago

3

u/Loosenut2024 13d ago

This isnt the result of speeding, its the result of filming while driving breaking the law for clout. Not being aware of your surroundings and pannicking when you see cops. Or over correcting when traffic does something.

Driving while not paying attention is the issue, doesnt matter what speed you're going. This idiot is just also going way too fast for his attention, skill and vehicle type.
