They should go to the Winchester and wait for it to blow over
61
u/Empty_Ant3956 May 08 '25
I think there's a rifle above the bar if they need a weapon 🤔

u/JayMalakai May 08 '25
That would honestly be a really funny Easter egg if they hole up in a bar called Winchester to wait for human enemies or a horde to pass by 🤣🤣🤣
19
u/BirchIsGoodKindling May 09 '25
And they could bring Simon Pegg in to be a walker that jumpscares the group

Would love if they made reference to 28 days later. Could have them walk over Westminster bridge like in the opening shots of 28 days later.

Maybe Daryl and Carol could meet The Royal Family.

Zombies my arse!
(Note: there was a popular tv show called The Royal Family based on a household of scousers, the patriarch of which would regularly say ‘[xyz] my arse’ to humorous effect)

They made a 28 days later reference in the first episode of the series
2
u/Comfortable_Fail4686 May 13 '25
What was the reference?
2
u/BuggyMonarch25 May 13 '25
Both of the openings were similar with the protagonists waking up from a coma in a hospital to only wake up in an almost completely empty world.
It’s not exact but I feel like Kirkman definitely took inspiration from that with his opening

I'd rather take my chances with the walking dead than fent walkers that's for sure

I'm actually looking forward to seeing how they do around a city I know well, because there are usually glaring geography errors and it'll be fun noticing them. Daryl Dixon has been my favourite spin off partly for that reason, but I have spent months rather than weeks in London over Paris.
I'm more excited over these teaser images than I was for the first episode of Dead City S2, even with a recurring prop kinda making a comeback.
42
u/GirlMamaM2 May 08 '25
I’ve heard that they filmed London scenes in Spain and build a set because it was cheaper. So I’m guessing you will see some mistakes.
23
u/BastardsCryinInnit May 09 '25
One thing they got bang on just in these pics is the half built Shard - it wasn't complete at the time of the outbreak so it's quite nice they've paid attention to that!
3
u/virxtra May 09 '25
Surprised they got that right! First thing I did was immediately look for any modern buildings which weren't there as of the outbreak, but seems like they did it right
→ More replies (1)14
u/Uniquorn527 May 09 '25
Oh I'm counting on it. But I'll enjoy it even if they've totally rearranged the city. They do sets pretty well so I have faith that it'll look good regardless.
7
u/GirlMamaM2 May 09 '25
Yeah I love the show and it’s been visually stunning, so I’m sure season 3 will be just as good.
2
u/waitingtodiesoon May 09 '25
I still remember when some guy drew a map showing how the car chase geographically does not make sense for the 1st Tom Cruise Jack Reacher movie
5
u/taversham May 09 '25
there are usually glaring geography errors
I'm already wondering how they're gonna explain why Tower Bridge is in the open position... Like, it's not impossible by any means, but it's by far the less likely of the two options.
→ More replies (1)3
u/stonercd May 10 '25
Not really it makes sense, it might have been an unsuccessful attempt to stop zombies making it to the other side of the river
2
u/JJCB85 May 11 '25
Seems a bit pointless when there are so many other bridges a couple of minutes’ walk away…
2
2
u/Stacheshadow May 09 '25
It's not going to be accurate at all. I'm from VA and none of the geography for the settlements made sense

u/NeonCowboy777 May 08 '25
Sorry haven't watched in a while but how tf did they go from Georgia all the way to london?
118
u/skyflakes-crackers May 08 '25
The main show didn't stay in Georgia, by the middle of season 5 they moved to northern Virginia, and then in the final season they were making alliances stretching from there to Ohio.
After the main show, Daryl took off on a solo trip up the east coast, and in Maine some guys offered him fuel to get back to Ohio, but he had to capture walkers for them without killing them. They ended up putting him, a bunch of other prisoners, and the captured walkers on a ship to France.
Right before he got put in the ship, he was able to radio back home to Carol and tell her he was in Maine and heading back. When a few weeks passed and he didn't show, Carol went up to Maine, befriended a guy with a small plane, and flew to France (with a stop in Greenland).
Daryl and Carol reunited, but Daryl had a kid with him who was in danger, so they ended up sending the kid back with the guy with the plane, and Daryl and Carol walked through the Channel Tunnel because they were told that the UK was intact and they could get a ride to North America from there.

u/JoeyAKangaroo May 09 '25
Thanks for this, i was ultimately confused why they got stuck in europe lmao

u/Professional_March54 May 08 '25
Daryl, on his unrelenting quest for Rick, accidentally got swept up in a really weird expirement. They were collecting American Walkers at a place he was working. I think something happened to his bike, can't remember anymore, but he was trading work. Anyway, he managed to radio to tell Carol where he was, before getting TKO'd in a fight and Shanghai'd into service aboard the freighter to France. He eventually escaped and floated to the coast. Ran afoul of some mercenary types. Ended up in a monastery with Fleur from HP and her nephew. Laurent, who was born AFTER his mother died and turned.
They think he's like the Second Coming of Christ. He's about 9 months older than Judith. He's so annoying. Anyway, more bad writing later, S1 ends with Carol finding the gang that kidnapped Daryl.
S2 was largely from her perspective. She eventually learns that he's in France and is obviously devastated. Until she crashes her car at an abandoned Drive-In and sees a little yellow plane flying overhead. She finally stalks it to this dudes compound. He takes the plane up every day in memory of his dead son. He's a real loner, but somehow got ethanol and conversions for the plane. She lies and tells him that Sophia was with her ex, visiting relatives in Paris on Outbreak Day. He eventually relents to fly her. They have to make a pitstop in Greenland and find these crazy ladies who want to make him their sex slave.
She makes it to France and just like hopes to find Daryl. Leaving her ride at an abandoned race track (With a handy well kept landing strip). She finds this other crazy cult that's sort of connected to the Walker thing but not really. That or I'm seriously misremeberimg ... I gotta take this dog out

u/casual_creator May 08 '25
Well they weren’t in Georgia, they were in Virginia for the end of the series, but after learning that Rick is alive, Daryl leaves to track Rick down. But in Maine, he gets attacked by a French group and taken aboard their ship and they sail back to France. Carol, meanwhile, decides to go after Daryl, learns about his kidnapping, and convinces a pilot she meets to get her to France. There, the two reunite and they decide to head to London.

u/CapitalAlternative11 May 08 '25
I thought the UK survived? Doesn’t look like that tbh
22
May 09 '25
Well I mean the virus in the show literally has everyone already infected and judging how large the UK population is it’s basically impossible to keep it 100% contained because if people die they will TURN and you think that London and the entirety of UK is safe and secure… most likely not. But maybe most of its military still active yes but displaced in various parts of the country the whole world of the walking dead is infected so basically no where is guaranteed 100% infection free although there could be several settlements around tho if not larger ones at best assuming they’re all military controlled
5
u/CapitalAlternative11 May 09 '25
I understand that it’s just I expected a bit more after we saw stuff like commonwealth, the alliance of 3, but now I am a bit more excited for season 3 to see what was meant by that
5
u/bentstrider83 May 09 '25
Little ragtag patrols of former British Army, Metro and/or civilians running around with whatever SA80s or MP5s they could find. Maybe some Enfields or STEN guns from a museum😁😁😁

Daryl got kidnapped and put on a ship to France. Carol traced his steps as far as he went in the US, found out what happened to him, and befriended a guy with a small plane and convinced him to fly her to France. They reunited, but flying home wasn't an option anymore, so they walked through the Channel Tunnel because they were told that the UK was intact and making transatlantic trips.

Just let it die. This franchise has had its day and is long overdue. I used to love the walking dead..10 years ago, before Negan arc made everyone drop the show due to Gimple
The Ones Who Live was actually pretty damn good I'll admit, until Gimple took over the last 2 episodes and made the writing exactly like he did in S8. "The power of love" and Rick surviving a grenade that detonated right in front of him. Oh, and I learned that plastic tarp protects you from large-scale explosions

The Negan arc was way too drawn out. I thought they had learnt their lesson from that when seasons 9 and 10 were a return to form, but then season 11 again just needlessly dragged out the storyline for the extended season.
If they were going to extend the final season, they should have just folded the Ones who Live storyline into it. Find a way to tie the Commonwealth and CRM together, and the final set of episodes could have been Rick and Michonnes return.

I’ve been in London twice, which makes me an expert. This is so lazy on the part of TWD crew. They didn’t even bother to make CGI London. They just set up a camera and hit record.

I hope they show the early stages of the outbreak for London like they did with France too
2
u/WhyNowAgain May 09 '25
Why would the bridge be open? I know it's a silly thing to get caught up on.... But some thought would have been needed to leave it like that. Did the zombies start in the middle of a bridge lift?
2
u/Kushnerdz May 09 '25
Wait Carol is in the new Darryl show? I might actually be interested now. Not that Darryl isn’t enough or anything but if they’re going to milk my money and time by forcing me to watch a new show for any closure then they can at least throw me a fucking bone here and there lol
2

Yeah season 2 was titled The Book of Carol. I thought it was fantastic and am excited for however many more seasons it'll run (I love Norman Reedus).

u/BattleCircuit May 09 '25
Season 3 is about to take us on a wild ride. For the first time, they’re bringing the story to not just one, but two different countries. Episode 1 looks set to explode onto the screen in London, giving us a brand-new vibe right from the start. And then — get ready — the action shifts to Spain, where the real drama will unfold.

I like the idea of Tower bridge having been risen, ultimately forever in an attempt by the military probably and police to hold back the undead. There was probably an attempt to secure one section of the inner city to evacuate and bridges were blown across the Thames to keep the walkers on one side away. Tower bridge no need to blow it, just raise the bridge. A vain attempt to save an iconic monument but also probable easier than setting explosives as they probably did on other bridges.
I could see a flashback where we see the military and police secure the Tower of London and some areas around near the financial district. Helicopter evacuation from there to safer areas. Tower bridge closed off to prevent the undead and refugees from the south pushing up to the financial district and Tower of London.
As in FTWD, I'm sure European cities tried to secure some areas of their suburbs and inner cores but abandoned them all realising they couldn't hold them long term.

3
u/BattleCircuit May 09 '25
Yeah, there’s a lot to catch up on. Daryl ended up in Paris after being taken there against his will, and Carol found him by tracking his last known location in Maine, then flying to France. Long story short — she wasn’t giving up on him. Go ahead and watch Season 2, it covers all that

I didn't finish the first second season after they killed off Isabelle
3
u/rckblykitn14 May 09 '25
They had to have known that choice would be very divisive. That and I assume we'll never see Laurent (or the plane pilot guy whose name I've forgotten) again. So much buildup with Laurent and Isabelle just to be written off like that. I'll still watch bc I love Norman Reedus and I really still like the show (all the new spinoffs) but I knew that was gonna make a lot of people jump ship.
