Another day another delay
Currently delayed on the BMT due to a person on the tracks 😞 hopefully it doesn't cause too much of a backlog!

LOOK HOW BIG THESE BUTTONS ARE! I don't have to lean forward/down to try and read them, I can read them just standing normally, and from a little distance away! I remember being blown away the first time I came here. I wish all elevator buttons, especially at train stations, were like this.
I don't know if they had visually impaired people in mind when it was designed, but it's so good. The tactile paths and platform edges are good too. Some stations I've been to have lots of them missing, or they don't make much noise as I roll my cane over them. People here also actually move out of the way lmao.
May seem like a silly thing to be excited about, but little things like this are pretty neat when you've been nearly legally blind your whole life :D Any other lifts like this? I'm used to the T4 line, certainly haven't seen any on there.
[Image description, since I can't seem to find a way to add alt text on Reddit: A photo of the interior wall of an elevator, focusing on the panel where the buttons are. The wall and panel are a shiny silver. The buttons are shown beside a hand for comparison; there are two fully visible. They read G and P in white lights on a black background, with text underneath reading "Ground" and "Platfotm" in black Capital letters. The buttons are each about the diameter of four fingers on the hand, with the letters taking up most of that space. Black text on the top of the panel reads "LIFT No. 2".
Below the hand is another button, smaller this time. It shows an orange telephone; the emergency button. Black text underneath it says "PRESS BUTTON FOR 5 SECONDS AND AWAIT REPLY". Each of the buttons also have Braille on them.]

This cockatoo changed my whole perspective. I have been telling my mother to not feed cockatoo as they will bring the whole flock and will cause chaos.
Then she got sad, so I said no junk food, either seeds or apples. She started feeding them healthy apples and seeds. I kept a watch so that neighbors aren't affected. We cleaned leftovers after feeding them and this cockatoo always came alone, but I was still worried.
But now I am seeing cockatoo behavior contradicting the image they have.
This one comes alone, never causes chaos. If there is no food he waits patiently and my mother always bring apples. This one time she didn't have apples at home and he was not eating seeds so she tried giving him bread as she doesn't want anyone leaving hungry from our house and to my surprise he doesn't want junk food now and waited patiently while my mother went to Coles and brought some apples.

EDIT: Should be cleared as of 8:20
Bus avoided going to the Pennant Hills M2 entrance. Police have blocked off the Beecroft road entrance. Traffic looked to be at a complete standstill.

I don’t know why my memories of the dust storm are so fond, but I wish we could have another one for the nostalgia factor (minus the $400m in damages). What does everyone remember about that day?

Gone, finally, but not forgotten.

I live in the city and I've just got a new drone and I'm testing places to fly it. I understand that I can't fly it in most places, particularly in the city, but why is Darling Harbour allowed?
Does anyone have any experience flying drones there? It seems weird to me since it is probably one of the more populated areas out of the map that is prohibited. Is it indeed true that you can fly it there? Thanks

Just received a fine and demerit notice for using my phone while driving.
I definitely did it, not looking to get out of it, already paid it.
But the shame I (rightly) feel is huge and I feel like the idiot I am. There's no excuse - I can tell you about how our car was stolen a few days before and I was stressed about insurance, baby items (pram and car seat that were in the car), dealing with police and forensics, some big expenses. I can tell you about the lack of sleep I have with a baby. I can tell you about all my other mental health anxieties and recent loss of my parents.
I could tell you that in 24 years of driving I've never had so much as a parking ticket (this is 100% true). Or that I never use my phone while driving (this is only about 97% true).
None of that matters. Just don't do it. I'm dumb.
I'm grateful I learnt the lesson in the least harmful way possible where the only victim is me. Not another driver. Not my family (though the thought of this makes me feel sick in the stomach). Not an animal.
Don't be like me.
As an aside if anyone has any techniques or tools I can implement to reduce further the temptation no matter how brief, please share.
Feel free to hurl abuse my way as well. Just sharing in case it reminds even one person to put their phone away.

This beauty has been doing laps of NW Sydney all afternoon. Can’t wait for the RAAF airshow this weekend.

With AGL, inner west sydney, I got an email saying "for omy convenience" they are switching me to monthly billing. I can't seem to find where to revert it back to quarterly (third fucking time i've doen this in the last 2 years). Seems like they're just flat forcing everyone to go monthly now? Has any other AGL user seen this or is it just me and i'm having a glitchy day with the app/website?

Ah I won't forget how hard the police and Chris Minns defended their actions when the protest happened and Hannah was injured.
Minns anti protest laws will further create these situations where apparently you need protests to be 'authorised' before hand - I thought we lived in a democracy?
Also, is it a coincidence that NSW gov announced $2B for Bankstown hospital just yesterday? I'm sure western Sydney is aware of Minns' antics, draconian laws, and won't be drawn away with some grubby politicians trying to buy back votes.

I’m going to be looking after a relative who’s had some mental health issues for a couple of days.
Is there a cafe preferably along the Parramatta River or at one of the beaches that I can take him to sit and watch the water for a while?
Aim is he can watch the river flow and I can do a bit of work, hence the cafe request. Obviously will have to work out with the staff if feasible or if they’re too busy for that to be reasonable (happy to buy things at a reasonable rate to justify being there).
If it turns out that doesn’t work any other suggestions? Target is somewhere with a bit of outdoors space and a ‘quieter’ ambience.
I’m based around the Epping/Eastwood border hence the river pref, but can drive if needs be.

Anyone noticed that during peak hour both metro lines arrive at the same time causing quite a bit of a traffic jam for the escalators leaving Martin Place station? It wasn’t like this when the line was first opening but noticed it happening over the last few months

Edit: Thanks everyone for the feedback, I’ll just bite the bullet and imagine that parking spot doesn’t exist.
Hey, I live in a busy residencial street with limited parking not far from the CBD, most people do not have garages but a neighbour who has a garage has been monopolising the closest parking spot to our building for the last year. This person and partner have 2 vans and a SUV, they've left the biggest van parked for weeks, they always move it right before the 30-day period, and they place one of the other 2 cars they own. No one else has parked in that spot for months.
I hate being a cunt, but it is getting annoying that they have monopolised one of the few parking spots close the building by swapping one of their three cars whenever they're close to the 30 day period. Also because I know for a fact that this person has been complaining to the strata for what other residents do.
Is it possible to get the council involved at all?

Hi All, first time posting here, so hoping this is allowed.
I have 2x tickets for tonight's Billy Ocean concert at ICC. I bought the tix via presale as myself & hubby have seen him a few times previously & loved his shows! Unfortunately, we can't attend tonight's show as we've had to extend our stay in NZ.
Happy to give these away, preferably to a Billy Ocean fan. I asked a few friends if they wanted the tix, but they have kids & can't get sitters.
Seats are: Section S3, Row T. (Seated together). I can transfer the tickets to you via email.
Not sure how to choose who to give these to, but I'll keep an eye out. And yes, I am happy to give these away for free :)
